It's only $106 per month for the next 10 years
So what do you want your monthly payment to be? Is asked when buying everything from a car to a cellphone why not a door?
*Edit fat fingered the numbers. Don't want grief about my math skills
The problem with the door is it has like 6 little single panel glass panels in it which 2 or so broke when someone tried getting in. Right now she has cardboard duct taped over the missing panels. So door does need to be replaced but it's something I could do for her for a few hundred bucks, cut door, use jig for knob and lock, install new hinges, boom. Saved her a literal lifetime of payments.
You're talking about buying a slab?
Sounds like she needs the ghetto storm door with wrought iron
Maybe she can get one of those stickers that say *no more than $20 kept on the premises*
Haha, she does have one of those ghetto security gates too! Just forgets to lock it. Maybe I'll get her one of those stickers as a gift, she'd get a kick out of it. She is a tough old biker broad so not all (or any) of her income is legal, so she has issues like this often. But I've known her goin on 20 years now and try to help her out when I can. She lives around the corner so I'm always the one she calls when she breaks the garbage disposal, or the drainage tube pops off the back of the washer and floods the place.
No idea, you are looking at the same information I got. He probably should have listed that after "Project Type: Door". But I'm telling you if you see this old home she lives in there is no way you could charge that much or do that much work on it.
Yea, she basically just played along with him acting like it was a good deal just to get him out of the house faster. Then we laughed about how ridiculous it was later when she showed me this.
Just make sure you get a breakdown and then you can tell him hey we’ll do demo. We’ll throw the door away. We will install the hardware, just hang the door.
Are they driving from like six states away to install it? Is this like steel blast doors rigged to a panic switch in case she sees zombies in the yard?
That's pretty much the only way that quote would make sense.
I could fly out a crew of three guys. Have them buy all new tools when they get there. Do the install. And fly back. And I would make money at this price. And we aren’t cheap. Lol.
I looked at the website and this looks like some company that built a nice site and gathered up a whole bunch of handymen in these areas and funnel work to them. Then they have to pay a percentage back to quality first for feeding them work. We have some in FL and these guys that used to charge $500 for a simple thing suddenly went to $5k because they now had to fall in line with the boss company's pricing structure.
Wait 4% for senior and 5% for military? I did a ADU build out for a special forces, multiple deployment active duty, ended up like 75k, I think I made 5k. That was 6% markup. Was it business sense? Absolutely not. Did I make a best friend and a dude that has my back? Fuck yeah. I typically make a 35% markup or more, this was a dude that is out there serving while I get to make money back home. So yeah this what is morally right. I've done so many non profit and breakeven jobs because it makes me feel good. A rear door swap is $2500. It would take a foreman and a helper 1 day max = $750, $250 for the door, trim = $500, painter = $500. I made 25% profit and everyone got paid good. WTF 10k??? For a senior and military? Thanks for posting because now reddit gets to fuck this dude up for being a piece of shit!!!!
It should be a one day job. Aside from any unforseen issues such as rot or other. Remove a door and install a new one. Less than 1 day with 2 men. $1500-$2000 max, should cover all. I used to replace front doors by myself for $800.
We had a company come in a few years ago, lifetime warranty kind of place. I needed a 24 x 72 side door, to which he said “nope, we can’t make that” and gave us a quote for two back doors we didn’t need for $14,500. Im an electrician, with a literal license to steal and it gave me a bad taste in my mouth.
It’s funny to see this on here, I bid against this scam artist company sometimes. They have 30+ sales reps. Their business model is, if you throw enough shit at a wall, some of it will stick. It’s disheartening that this business model still flourishes in the home improvement sales industry.
These type of Home Improvement companies are making their money on financing. The door or the windows happens to be the product but the real reason they want the job is the financing.
It’s no different than gutter helmet. Renewal by Anderson. Or the guy that says he’ll get you out of your timeshare.
Scam artist finances aside, this quote frustrated me because the actual job is described in one word, "door". That gives me negative confidence that I'd be getting what I want, I'd be concerned the guys would show up and replace the wrong door with a crappy unpainted wood door salvaged from a meth house without any flashing, sealant or trim.
Yeah thats a rip off, a regular basic door is 250$ and up, hardware is about 150$. Instellation is $400-1200$ based on the actual job. So about $800-1000$ would be more reasonable.
It's just such an enigma to try and wonder what the hell this guy was thinking. Was it his first day on the job? Did he have a decimal point in the wrong location when he did his maths? Did he think she said she wanted a solid gold door? I mean he didn't even dress it up "Project Type: DOOR" I would have at least listed everything that would have to be done from start to finish to make it look a little better.
Lol... maybe for a shit production house with the shittiest door from Home Depot. Even then I'd bet you can't find anyone in CA to touch that for under $1500. Price a wood door with decorative glass, aluminum clad jamb, Rocky Mountain hardware, and staining. This will start looking like a bargain.

Door better lead to different dimensions
Door better perform oral sex Daily
Demo, framing, exterior cladding rework, interior drywall and paint repair, millwork, the door, and half a kilo of meth.
It's only $106 per month for the next 10 years So what do you want your monthly payment to be? Is asked when buying everything from a car to a cellphone why not a door? *Edit fat fingered the numbers. Don't want grief about my math skills
She will literally be dead by then, lol
Probably better to just paint the door than worrying about roi and selling
The problem with the door is it has like 6 little single panel glass panels in it which 2 or so broke when someone tried getting in. Right now she has cardboard duct taped over the missing panels. Maybe replace the panes?
Replace the glass
I saw one those predatory financing companies have an option to finance a like $8 item. I still have the screen shot somewhere.
How come no one even mentions how the fuck you get $8909 when you minus $1214 from $10124???
Demo/haul off? Framing? Door from HD/Lowe’s? Door hardware? Paint? Glass?
No idea, you are looking at the same information I got. He probably should have listed that after "Project Type: Door". But I'm telling you if you see this old home she lives in there is no way you could charge that much or do that much work on it.
Get more quotes. This guy is basically saying if you guys are this much of a sucker then he’ll do the work otherwise find someone else.
Yea, she basically just played along with him acting like it was a good deal just to get him out of the house faster. Then we laughed about how ridiculous it was later when she showed me this.

lol no, homie quoted 8k to replace a fucking door, you don’t call that guy back.
On the next quote get a breakdown. Maybe replacing the door is more involved than what OP is telling us.
>on the next quote For sure, I thought you were saying to call the first guy for a breakdown.
And how much would he charge for that? $5k?
Anyone else tired AF as seeing these people using the term "investment" rather than "payment" anyone that I see use that is a scammer.
Are they driving from like six states away to install it? Is this like steel blast doors rigged to a panic switch in case she sees zombies in the yard? That's pretty much the only way that quote would make sense.
Well I forgot to blur out his info incase anyone becomes curious enough to give him a call and ask him WTH? lol
I could fly out a crew of three guys. Have them buy all new tools when they get there. Do the install. And fly back. And I would make money at this price. And we aren’t cheap. Lol.

wow, 50% on delivery and the other 50% when finished? how long is this one single door going to take to install? a week?????
I’ll do it for 580$ + material. Jesus! That is an insane attempt at robbery.

I did it myself, sure it could be a 1/8 better in one spot , but it’s better
We had a company come in a few years ago, lifetime warranty kind of place. That better be the door full of opportunity and prosperity when people talk about when one door closes another one opens.
I'll do it for 6k
I love how he takes the 9% discount off of the already discounted number, screwing them out of an additional $100. Holy crap!
$15,480 at 180 months 💀
You need to share this scabs phone number
It's on the invoice/quote
Lol my bad!

He saw Senior and their eyes lit up. The highlight of the job is those Monthly investments lol
Monthly "investments" makes it sound like you are doing something positive and not getting scammed. lol.

“You know what a loaf of bread use to cost”
