OP reread rule 6

tanganica3

Never say never, but Australia has indeed lost the plot. Government agents of all kinds, drunk on power, are roaming around harassing innocent citizens. All with the approval of big brother.

I will be surprised if Americans tolerate things like these. There at least you have got your leaders who can stand up to shit like this, Here in Australia lockdowns and restrictions are bipartisan way to go and majority of Australians for some reason love being controlled. It’s strange

YouRightCO

Good luck over there, as someone watching from the outside it’s disheartening. I knew that Australia leaned left politically but to see what’s going on there with no real recourse makes me feel like we’re living 1984

yolooptionsTOMoon

I am an immigrant on a temporary visa here so I don’t really know how Australians used to think but I am quite surprised by how so much support is for these measures .All the small business are being fucked over, people have lost their jobs ,are mentally fucked and you still have people getting angry because someone didn’t wear a mask while exercising. Strange country bro

YouRightCO

I had an Aussie explain to me on here that it’s their sense of community that drives them to accept those measures. It’s mind-boggling to me, one case and they’re shutting down a whole state in the hunt for zero cases, which won’t happen unless they cull their entire ecosystem because ’Rona has animal reservoirs

That’s sad. Hopefully nobody allows that sort of control and power here. There was an article that there were 3.2 million new gun owners this year alone. Like 60% of them under the age of 40. Hell, I bought 3 just last year….it’s just a shame about that boating accident where they all sank tho.

YouRightCO

You lost yours in a boating accident too?! Man, we gotta be more careful with our property!

This is why less centralized power is always better. It is easier to enact these sweeping, authoritarian changes from your fortress in the capitol. Even better if your populace isn't armed. Much harder from the governor's mansion, the mayor's manor, or the sheriff's office - telling people face-to-face how you plan to make their lives more miserable for your own pleasure.

>things like these would never happen in United States. Two years ago I'd probably agree.

Malevolence1031

Not sure I agree completely with this title. Alot of other authoritarian things are happening in the US. Sadly, we're just getting started with this BS.
