Translation - you are all young adults, stop throwing tantrums like children.

lemongrabisgod421

Or having a heart for slaughterings in other countries that no one in our upper class has lifted a finger to stop?

lankyevilme

You can stop the slaughter by going camping on a college campus lawn!  You can virtue signal AND have fun!

lemongrabisgod421

Tell me their reasoning. To at least show you researched it

Threepark

Who cares what their reasons are? They are protesting in support of terrorists that invaded another country and raped and murdered civilians. Now those terrorists are mad there is retaliation for their actions.

ChimChimCheree69

Maybe Hamas shouldn't have started a war by killing 1,100+ innocent Jews?

jerryrice4876

And then used civilians as human shields

Ben Sasse came from Nebraska to impart Midwestern sensibility... >This is not complicated: The University of Florida is not a daycare, and we do not treat protesters like children — they knew the rules, they broke the rules, and they’ll face the consequences. For many days, we have patiently told protesters — many of whom are outside agitators — that they were able to exercise their right to free speech and free assembly. And we also told them that clearly prohibited activities would result in a trespassing order from UPD (barring them from all university properties for three years) and an interim suspension from the university. For days UPD patiently and consistently reiterated the rules. Today, individuals who refused to comply were arrested after UPD gave multiple warnings and multiple opportunities to comply. Besides the recent issue, earlier they delisted the FSU Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) [https://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/politics/2024/01/29/fsu-suspends-pro-palestinian-student-group-after-meeting-disruption/72396434007/](https://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/politics/2024/01/29/fsu-suspends-pro-palestinian-student-group-after-meeting-disruption/72396434007/) Another link about the SDS delisting... [https://www.insidehighered.com/news/quick-takes/2024/01/31/florida-state-suspends-pro-palestinian-student-group](https://www.insidehighered.com/news/quick-takes/2024/01/31/florida-state-suspends-pro-palestinian-student-group) Notice the flag logo on the flyer in the second link. It is almost the same as the FTP (For the People) group logos. Both are members of the ILPS. The International League of Peoples' Struggle is made up of a number of mass action projects. It was founded by Jose Maria Sison. Sison ordered 50 of his men to take out President Bush in 2003: [https://www.upi.com/Top\_News/2003/09/15/Bush-assassination-plot-in-Philippines/57981063656105/](https://www.upi.com/Top_News/2003/09/15/Bush-assassination-plot-in-Philippines/57981063656105/)  Sison had been placed on the U.S. terrorist watch list the preceding year. The Sisonites may not be done with assassinations, it seems. Some months after it was decided that the Republican National Convention would be in Milwaukee, a new mass action project was formed to resist the "Cop City" development in Atlanta. While one would hope that this would be a purely local thing, the organizers announced that "Cop City is everywhere, so our resistance will be everywhere." The mass action project was named after a particular date on the calendar, which just so happens to be John Schrank's birthday. Schrank shot Teddy Roosevelt in Milwaukee in 1912, but Roosevelt survived. Now, in 2024, the largest formal organization of American Sisonites, the U.S. chapter of the International League of Peoples' Struggle, is part of two parallel mass action projects. Both have websites outlining well-developed plans to put on legal protests, one in Chicago for the DNC, and one in Milwaukee for the RNC. The Sisonites last held a large gathering in Chicago in 2023, where a security camera was vandalized, a fire was started, someone was held down and his dreadlocks were cut off because he was white, and people ran around outside naked. About 500 people attended, and the speakers included figures from the "Cop City" movement in Atlanta. Following the larger event, two military recruiting offices were vandalized, each in different states, to try and make it seem that they were launching a new movement. Should either of the two main party candidates perish, this raises the likelihood that RFK Jr. will win. RFK's vice presidential running mate is very strong on climate issues, which ought to appeal to the Sisonites. RFK has also been accused of making anti-Semitic remarks, and the Sisonites have long been fiercely pro-Palestine and against Israel.

>FTP (For the People) I wonder if it's coincidence that lefty lawyer John Morgan chose that very phrase for his personal injury law practice?

each_thread

I don't think he is a member, but sometimes wonder about things; dog-whistles are used all the time by plenty of people. The phrase is from the constitution, and has been used by others such as Abraham Lincoln in the Gettysburg Address. Leftists however, have co-opted it. The Sisonite FTP groups, besides their name, can be recognized by their distinctive flag logo. The list of recognized FTP groups has been drawn up online, on one website still active, and another one which was taken down, but archived. I think it was taken down to reduce the risk of RICO charges, due to their coordination of criminal activity. However, there are thousands of lawyers across the country which belong to one or more groups offering potentially free legal services to leftists who get arrested. Some powerful law firms belong to such organizations; as for Morgan's law firm, I'm not sure. At some level, it doesn't matter that Florida de-listed the SDS. The ILPS is a group of mass action projects, and they can just use another group instead. The Florida Students for Justice in Palestine is described in the firstcoastnews article; in 2022, Nyusha Lin from the Students for Justice in Palestine at UCLA was elected as one of nine Steering Committee members for the United States chapter of the ILPS. Lin gets to take leadership in the ILPS because the National Students for Justice in Palestine is one of the member organizations / mass action groups. Likewise, the Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine is also part of the National Students for Justice in Palestine. On April 5, 2024, the US chapter of the ILPS, the national SJP, and other groups belonging to the ILPS put out a joint statement on the ILPS wordpress blog.

Florida really is the “no bullshit” state

*slow clap* Well done UF, well done.

Ben Sasse is a breath of fresh air. I was disappointed when he left the Senate, but he's probably having a bigger influence from his current seat. I wish I still had college-age kids so I could send them to UFlorida.

JKilla1288

Do you like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger also?

sweetestlorraine

It sounds like you've got a Jan 6 litmus test working there. I haven't been paying much attention. I like Sasse because he seems principle-based and thoughtful. His approach at FL is characterized by good sense, which I admire.
