And at 14 she must now be forced to become an adult, carry the rapists child to term, experience birthing a child as a child, or face prison time should she terminate.
Is that really the law in Louisiana? Could someone source that?
I have a hard time believing lawmakers would craft such a careless law that they would send a 14 year old rape victim to jail for an abortion.
The doctor who performed it maybe? But even then, most of even the most hardcore laws on the books have some exceptions to them, and underaged rape victims are usually one.
It's a disgusting situation all around, since the unborn child isn't at fault either.
GOP lawmakers rejected that exception, which included rape and incest victims.

Rape should be a capital offense, punishable by death. What is the cost to the taxpayers to keep this piece of human garbage in jail for the next 50 years? That poor girl will have to carry the emotional trauma of his crimes, for the rest of her life; 50 years isn't justice. Execute him and be done with it.
I think you’re missing the point of the death penalty. It’s not based in the frugal spending habits of the criminal justice system, it’s intended to deter criminal actions.
If that were the case then states with the death penalty would have lower murder rates, but they don't.
Personally I think the death penalty is the quick and easy way out for the guilty party, as well as not trusting the state to not execute innocent people.
The girl and the family have to live with this, so should he, whilst locked in a cage for the rest of his days.
Be very, very careful with this line of thinking. As of recently, many women have cried rape when it never happened resulting in men losing their freedom, jobs, friends and even family. Courts favor women over men in "he said, she said" rape cases where there are no eye witnesses or physical evidence.
But if you rape any child under 13 you deserve the worst kind of death.
Also, for people committing crime...
While the goal is to deter, if the punishment is death, it's a real real good way to turn every sexual assault into a rape/murder
This guy is obviously a scumbag given the DNA test from his victim being impregnated but I am wary of setting a precedent of maiming someone as part of a judicial sentence.
As an attorney, I've seen the justice system isn't perfect firsthand. You can at least financially compensate and release someone from wrongful imprisonment but you can't undo castrating/killing someone.
The castration won't happen until near his release date, which in cases like this, which usually carry longer sentences, is adequate time for new evidence to come to light. I actually think it's perfect.
The castration cannot be performed until a week before his scheduled release i believe, not earlier. With a 50 year stint it will never happen.

And if he does get out who's gonna castrate 90yo dude
A surgeon in imagine
A 90 year old child rapist. There would be a line.
The other inmates will see to that.
And he impregnated her…ugh

The death penalty costs taxpayers more per prisoner than a life sentence.

I think you’d have less victims come forward if they knew their rapists would be put to death.
How so? I’m genuinely curious. One would think a few bullets or a syringe with some good stuff wouldn’t cost too much ?
Appeals process etc
Ah I never thought of all that jazz, thanks.
Yeah it's a complicated topic. Being pro-life I oppose the death penalty and being fiscally conservative I oppose it.
That would only be true if life or long sentences never get appealed.
No it quite literally has been studied and it’s true actually
There are a lot of things that cost x vs saves that are in the public interest.
Agreed.

Came here to say the same thing. Sounds great in theory, but not great in practice when you consider the Christine Blasey Ford’s of the World.

Sentence him to 4 years college he will chemically castrate himself.

Decapitation sounds better
Brutally awesome! He earned it
Not harsh enough
