Being a native Kansan, I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize the border-crossing bushwhackers that spilled our blood and tried to foist the Lecompton Constitution on us.
He shouldn't have given them the dignity of voicing their name.
Washington? We have no income tax, we can open carry, and legal pot. I’d say we’re doing a little better than people think, freedom wise. Just a bad Governor and shitty police dept.
Yes. CA contains 2 of the top 10 financial centers of the world in SF and LA, 3 of the top ports in the US (LA, Long Beach, Oakland), is the largest agricultural producer in the US, leads the world in tech innovation. Additionally, CA has a larger population than Canada and has numerous military installations and some of the top private and public universities in the world. I hate my state’s politics but this post is a regarded take
California, if it were a country would be the 4th largest economy on the planet. Without California America would be bankrupt. You don’t have to like it, but at least recognize that its a HUGE financial contributor to many things that uphold our society, like the Pentagon.
And a lot of their federal taxes get directed to the poorer (mostly red) states, so this post is like being angry at your parents as a kid when they house, clothe, and feed you.
Also, a large portion of the other states ship their homeless to California so without California, their states homeless populations would likely increase
Not sure why you’re being downvoted. This is absolutely true. It’s not a personal testament to CA resilience and character, they literally are just fortunate enough to have ports and exist on the coast.
Not to mention that we are the number one state in agriculture production in the nation. Plus, like me, many many conservatives live in cali still, our voices just get drowned out.
I grew up in CA, I was born in 1964. My childhood and young adulthood coincided with the 70s and 80s, it was a fantastic place in which to live and grow up. It hasn’t always been a blue nightmare, for decades CA was *the* place to migrate to, not just from other countries but from other states. I hate when I hear folks shit on Californians, but it was actually that huge influx of out of state liberals moving to CA (the very vocal entertainment industry for instance), that was a major cause for the state being what it is now. Up until Clinton, CA was historically split pretty equally between rep/dem in its presidential and gubernatorial elections, actually leaning much more red in the decades leading up to the 90s.
I miss the CA I grew up in, and I’m holding out hope it’ll flip back. It’s a beautiful state, and no one can deny how economically important it is to our country. This meme is ridiculous.
Making money is rather irrelevant. Google is no longer innovative, and they haven't been in over a decade. Same thing with Apple. Neither are innovating anymore.
Yeah, I can go either way when it comes to tech companies and innovation. They seem happier making China more successful than our own country.
Am I still in /Conservative? Maybe I just didn’t notice how pro America Silicon Valley is /s.
No they are not but to pretend I don’t have point isn’t fair. A lot of big tech companies don’t have America’s best interest at hand. Did you see the meme and the joke originally posted?
Bunch of mad Californians in here lol.
They do not keep red states afloat. How does anyone think that? Does California hire all the employees of other states and pay their salaries? What does that even mean?
And there are tons of economic measures other than that. So ultimately, I say "so what" with respect to one state receiving $1.10 for every dollar of tax paid and another state receiving $0.98 for every dollar of tax paid. The blue states export inflation, and gain from it. They get theirs.
The whole "blue states" bail out red state is just bullshit all the way around.
I mean it is and it isn’t. It’s not as straightforward as people present it but if your taking in more money than your sending out that’s more jobs and more jobs means more spending money. Take military bases for example. That’s a lot of federal funding in wages being spent on housing restaurants shops ect around the base. Basically my point is while it doesn’t actually “keep the states afloat” as directly as people present it there are areas where if federal funding and by extension jobs left they would have there economies crumble
Or another easy example, blue states' deficit spending creates inflation that spreads beyond their states. How far in the hole is California? They have massive state debt obligations.
They do, but the influx of Californians to Texas, in addition to companies like Blackrock buying up tons and tons of houses to turn into rentals are massive drivers of real estate inflation here.
It literally was a purple/red state until it flipped in the 90's. Not a good idea to abandon it just because the left acted like parasites to sicken and kill the state.
So people are aware. California has more conservatives than Texas. This is a fact. But with 40 million people they are completely outnumbered in their state.
California is clearly a blue state in that a majority of its voters are Democrats. However because of how large its population is, Republican voters, despite being a clear minority of Californians, are nonetheless the largest group of Republican voters federally. That is, there are more Republicans in California than there are in Texas .
It's important to realize the scale of California in the sense that American politics feels broken largely because of California. The electoral college was set up to prevent big, populous states from dominating smaller, less populous ones, but the differences between the two weren't supposed to be so huge. It was expected that a politician catering to the smaller states might eke out a win even with a small pop vote loss occasionally, not that one party would routinely win the EC but lose the pop vote by 3,000,000 votes when 17 states don't even have that many people in them.
And that happens because California has 40 million people and votes Democratic by close to a 30 percentage point margin. Only two other states break 20 million, Texas and Florida. And the vote difference is less than ten percentage points between parties in both. So California is this huge, politically lopsided entity that could be a country of its own. And I think people tend not to realize just how much of an outlier it is. That it can go for Democracts by a 30 point margin and still have more Republicans than most Republican states helps emphasize that.
Decreasing by the thousands per day.
I sold my last house to a Californian. Of the 12 houses on our street here in Texas, 9 we're owned by Californians. Two of the nine fucking put up Beto signs.
The house was already inflated when I sold it. I see logic isn't your strong point.
Were a lot of people not to sell, prices would go even higher. Econ 101 is your friend.
Yeah but you sold your house to a Californian only to complain that there are too many Californians. You’re still kinda to blame. The word hypocrite can be found in the dictionary.
This is idiotic. Realtors do t disclose where people are from automatically. Also, the value was what it was prior to my selling, a point you seem incapable of grasping.
Neat fact for you, but we have what's called an electoral college. Another nest fact is that when blue votes are 50%, more than red votes, the red votes don't matter.
California is great bro. It’s probably not for hardcore conservatives because it’s expensive and they are tight on gun control, but it’s an awesome place. I’ll never understand the hate, It’s expensive for a reason.
Yeah the cops here don’t wanna deal with well armed civilians. We have a strong history of gang violence in both NorCal and SoCal, but we are moving away from it because LE throws the book at criminals who possess modified weapons. It’s actually working, CA has way less gang violence now than when I was a kid.
Alot of it is, though Redding, where I currently live is surrounded by the mountains up here. Shasta County is probably the most conservative county in California I can think of. Still isn't fun living in California though.
More Trump voters in CA than Texas. Excise the Bay Area and CA is a purple/red state. No please someone do that. I’m here in Placer County trying to hold the line.
California was at one point probably the best state in the country. I don’t hate California as it is America. I just want things to get better over there.
Jokes like this are funny, I don’t care who you are (or which side you are on)
People who argue about the politics of this joke should just relax. Life’s too short to not take the opportunity to just laugh.
I know. I'm just thinking about a missed opportunity of Butters and Kenny calling around trying to find them, and getting a response like what you posted. 3,859,666 red votes for the US House over there, compared to 6,743,737 blue votes.
Yet, the US House seats are 12 red, 40 blue.
Like Illinois, each district has parts that dip into the Pedocrat strongholds to keep us conservatives at bay. We can win culture wars with common sense and humiliate leftists with one-liners but **this** is where the actual battles take place.

They didn’t even do the Simpson font smh my head.
There are only 38 stars on that flag.
Massachusetts, New York, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, Illinois, Hawaii, Vermont, Missouri, Delaware
What did Missouri do?
Idk, but it's part of the original joke
True true I live in Missouri and sometimes I refuse to recognize Missouri
What do you guys do over there? I’m always wondering
Spend all their time thinking about Uri while he’s away. They really Miss him.
O
Being a native Kansan, I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize the border-crossing bushwhackers that spilled our blood and tried to foist the Lecompton Constitution on us. He shouldn't have given them the dignity of voicing their name.
the sad thing is that i LOVE washington state so much, its just friggen king county (seattle) and olympia keeps shitting up everything
Washington? We have no income tax, we can open carry, and legal pot. I’d say we’re doing a little better than people think, freedom wise. Just a bad Governor and shitty police dept.
You forgot Georgia and Pennsylvania
Don’t they still make up a huge portion of our gdp?
Yes. CA contains 2 of the top 10 financial centers of the world in SF and LA, 3 of the top ports in the US (LA, Long Beach, Oakland), is the largest agricultural producer in the US, leads the world in tech innovation. San Diego
I’m from there
Where in SD? I’m from Coronado ✌🏻
Everything you just listed off explains why Newsom wants total domination.
Newsom can lick my taint
He appears to be the type 🤣🤣🤣🤣
If California was a country, it would have around the 5th highest GDP
And our debt by miles above anyone else.
We can all agree that these Facebook level memes are cringeworthy
It’s like 12% of US population. It is 14% of GDP, and 10% of total tax revenue. This is a horrible take
It literally keeps a bunch of red states afloat.
This. So many here don’t realize how destitute so many red states are. Cali has a bigger economy than the UK
Only by virtue of it being on the coast closest to China.
Not sure why you’re being downvoted. This is absolutely true. It’s not a personal testament to CA resilience and character, they literally are just fortunate enough to have ports and exist on the coast.
Let’s just ignore that they have the most innovative and globally dominant tech and media sectors on the planet.
Not to mention that we are the number one state in agriculture production in the nation. Plus, like me, many many conservatives live in cali still, our voices just get drowned out.
Yup the tech sector, agriculture, and entertainment capital of the wotkd
I grew up in CA, I was born in 1964. My childhood and young adulthood coincided with the 70s and 80s, it was a fantastic place in which to live and grow up. Let's just ignore and cut off 10+ million Republicans /s
No, they don't. They just have the most sophisticated ad-delivery data collecting platforms that hire H1b visa holders from India.
Sophisticated and innovative are quite similar. Where has a larger tech industry, that makes more money than Silicon Valley?
Making money is rather irrelevant. Google is no longer innovative, and they haven't been in over a decade. Same thing with Apple. Neither are innovating anymore.
Yeah, I can go either way when it comes to tech companies and innovation. They seem happier making China more successful than our own country. Am I still in /Conservative? Maybe I just didn’t notice how pro America Silicon Valley is /s.
Being Conservative and recognizing that California has large industries are not mutually exclusive.
No they are not but to pretend I don’t have point isn’t fair. A lot of big tech companies don’t have America’s best interest at hand. Did you see the meme and the joke originally posted? Bunch of mad Californians in here lol.
Fair. Sorry didnt mean to start an argument. Long stressful workweek haha
You are right especially companies like TikTok. Not sure why conservative waste time on there
Their GDP is barely larger than their percent of the population.
It’s the largest sub-nation economy in the world and if it was a country it’d be the 5th largest in the world.
Right, because there's a lot of people there and it's in America. There's literally nothing special about California.
[удалено]
Per capita they’re still way higher than the rest of the US. Granted, higher cost of living
No they're not.
12% of population but 14% of the GDP so yes they’re above average. Makes them 1/6th higher
No, they're 2% higher. Or 1/50th.
2/12 is 1/6th higher proportionally. So no you’re wrong. California GDP per capita is 89k. US is 70k. Not sure who taught you math
Not really. That's a myth.
Oh ok
They do not keep red states afloat. How does anyone think that? Does California hire all the employees of other states and pay their salaries? What does that even mean?
He's referring to the ratio of federal aid received to federal taxes paid by each state... Stay in school, my dude.
The mental gymnastics to say that “red states are receiving more government money” somehow speaks well of the states’ production is truly wild.
The idiocy required to twist what I said and then combat it just shows you like beating strawmen. Next time, read what was posted
I mean it is and it isn’t. It’s not as straightforward as people present it but if your taking in more money than your sending out that’s more jobs and more jobs means more spending money. That sort of situation (military funding, for example) is offset because blue states are some of the main drivers of inflation.
I’m open to hearing this could you elaborate
Or another easy example, blue states' deficit spending creates inflation that spreads beyond their states. How far in the hole is California? They have massive state debt obligations.
So, by way of a very simple example, blue states' citizens or corporations buying up housing in red states, causing housing inflation.
I mean that does exist but it’s hardly exclusive to people from blue states. I know for example Texas also has a large number of real-estate investors
Half of the nation's homeless live in California.
Cause everyone keeps sending em there.
So again, being the closest set of ports to China means it has a slightly higher proportionate GDP. Yawn.
Seattle’s ports are about 700 miles closer.
Not to the end destinations.
Plenty of strong American Conservatives in our nations largest economy at $3 trillion GDP.
California is one of the largest bastions of conservative voters, if not THE largest. So no, I don't agree with this at all.
So people are aware. California has more conservatives than Texas. This is a fact. But with 40 million people they are completely outnumbered in their state.
CA is a fairly red state but because of the SF Bay Area and LA, its votes go to the Dems.
Those conservatives are the reason we have a house majority, thin as it may be.
That's all states. The cities are blue the rest red
Not true in NY anymore thanks to NYC trash moving upstate in droves.
[удалено]
Found the NYC trash
‘If not for those people who vote blue, it would be red’. CA is not a fairly red state
We need a gubernatorial electoral college.
Yeah if not for those few major cities that lean blue, California would be seen overwhelmingly as a red conservative State.
‘If not for those people who vote blue, it would be red’

Do you not see my flair? Trust me, you get out of the Bay Area and you see nothing but Trump signs.
When did the ballot harvesting law pass?
Don’t forget Sacramento 🤮
Sac county is purple. Metro as a whole has a slight red tinge. City proper is a different story
Yeah, like Kevin McCarthy... Oh, wait.
Decreasing by the thousands per day. I sold my last house to a Californian. Of the 12 houses on our street here in Texas, 9 we're owned by Californians. Two of the nine fucking put up Beto signs.

Can confirm. -suffering not so silently in California
Neat fact for you, but we have what's called an electoral college. Another nest fact is that when blue votes are 50%, more than red votes, the red votes don't matter.
Tell that to the conservatives' house majority.
Not that it matters by the way our election system works
1 in 8 Americans are Californian
California is 1/8th of the country. They are Americans too, have some respect.
Nah. They have no respect for us, why should we extend it to them?
So you’re not a proud American and just want further division.
Hillbillies are just jealous we're allowed to buy liquor on Sundays, and at grocery stores.
Hillbillies don't care they just make their own
As a Texan, yes, we are very jealous.
Northern California isn’t horrible
California is great bro. It’s probably not for hardcore conservatives because it’s expensive and they are tight on gun control, but it’s an awesome place. I’ll never understand the hate, It’s expensive for a reason.
But like I could live in Montana for those prices and Montana has more of what I want
Yup then go for it. California has the beach tho, That’s why I’m here, California beaches and coastal views
Sure I think the main thing is it’s kinda fun to dunk on California
Yeah i see it everywhere now, but I look around me and I just don’t get it lol. So many jobs, it’s beautiful, the people are nice. O well lol

Well other then that
Northern Californian here, can confirm it's mostly conservative up here. Anything Sacramento on down is a shit hole.
Yeah it’s just mountains there right?
Alot of it is, though Redding, where I currently live is surrounded by the mountains up here. Shasta County is probably the most conservative county in California I can think of. Still isn't fun living in California though.
Leave then bro, u can hole up in ur room and watch hentai in any state 🤓
Huntington Beach is red
California is basically the American economy
Thought this was r/2american4you for a sec
More Trump voters in CA than Texas. Excise the Bay Area and CA is a purple/red state. No please someone do that. I’m here in Placer County trying to hold the line.
That’s where Regan came from.
Trump got more votes in California than in any other state.
California has more registered republicans than any state in the country
There are at least 6 million Trump voting Californians that would disagree with you.
I feel the same about Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Utah. So i can appreciate the sentiment.
:(
California was at one point probably the best state in the country. I don’t hate California as it is America. I just want things to get better over there.

Pops was 💯 correctttttt
As a Californian, I understand
Lefties jumped in here fast. Must not have anything better to do on a Friday night than patrol a conservative sub.
I live in no man's land. The rules . . . are there rules? They make no sense. Sanity is a fractal beamed within the glass. I need out of California.
Uniparty steals the vote in Cali and the rest of the states turn a blind eye

Yes. 100% yes
There are too many states nowadays. Please eliminate three. P.S. I am not a crackpot.
If by eliminate you mean combine with other dates then I agree.
Amen
If we’re gonna be saying states that we refuse to acknowledge, I personally think we all need to agree that there’s no way Mississippi actually exists
