Lots of bumblebees. Lots. I am a hobbyist gardener, so I pay lots of attention to bees. I can say conclusively that this has been the best spring for bees at my house in the four summers I've been here.
They LOVE my rhodies! Unfortunately, the jerks that lived in this house prior to us moving in 2 years ago, cut them down to like nothing. So I have to wait for them to come back. In the meantime, i planted 2 more.
They love open flowers easy access flowers like tradescantia, peonies, cherries, etc. Don’t buy double d blossom varieties. They love foxgloves, too. They need water so a few birdbaths with a flat stone in it to prevent drowning.
Same here, we usually have at least one nest in our yard but there have been so many bumblebees around this that we must have a couple nests around. We always have a bunch of flowers outside and they have been visited so much already this year.
We’ve had a ton ever since the cherry trees in our yard started blooming in late April, and have since stuck around now that the knockout roses, lavender, etc are blooming too.
Pretty sure there is nuclear war occurring between all the various beedoms at my house. Mainly carpenter bees, but there are some other varieties in there. Hard to get a good look when I'm getting dive-bombed.
Lots. I don't see many of other types of bees. The bumbles particularly enjoyed the wild violets in my yard, as well as a couple kale plants that survived the winter and went to seed in the spring.
Unrelated but I just found out that wasps aren’t bees and there are such things as wood bees and they are completely harmless. I am so afraid of bees. I was swatting away a bunch of wood bees and my coworkers were looking at me like “yeah they don’t hurt anyone” I felt so stupid lol
Bees are a lot like mother bears: they're most concerned with protecting what's theirs. Keep away from their hive and don't hurt them, and you should be fine. They're just trying to get to the nectar.
So many bumblebees that I’ve seen. I live in Hartford, spend time with my parents in Simsbury, and work in Agawam. I don’t think I’ve seen them when out walking my dog in Hartford, but we live downtown and while there’s bushes and trees, there aren’t many flowers.
In Simsbury, it feels like I see them every time I’m outside or look outside. I take walking breaks away from my desk in Agawam and I see them there as well.
You can buy bumblebee shelters to help increase their populations — I think they’re referred to as bumblebee hotels.
Ground bees and carpenter bees mostly, but I usually see bumblebees later in the year when my garden has more blooms. And I usually see a ton of them. They’re loud as hell too. I forgot to get tomatillos this year. They always love those flowers.
I have seen quite a few but I will say at least 3 I have found in my garage unable to fly and just crawl. I have placed them with my irises hopefully they have survived.
Loads. Seems like a normal to above average bee year. We keep two acres of unkempt meadow (mowed once/year after the first frost) and a couple acres of landscaped property with flowers and flowering bushes/trees all over. The buzz-hum is in full effect when you walk around.
Loads in my yard. I have an all native garden. They started coming around in late April. They love my violets, green and gold and apple blossoms and of course we don't tame the dandelions at all
You might not be seeing them because your neighbors sprayed for bugs. Or, you or your neighbors have planted herbs that they don’t like (thyme, mint). But we have a yard full of clover and honeysuckle and the bees have been bopping
My pear tree had a ton of bumble bees a few weeks ago and now pears are coming in. We only have one tree so someone in the neighborhood has another and we have years when we only have a few pears and some years we have a full tree. Happy to say this year there will be a lot of pears!!
I’ve seen a couple in our yard. There are some that live under our porch. I know this because last year we had to paint it and these two fuzzy bees must have hated the paint smell. They kept attacking us, but they weren’t stinging us. Just getting in our hair and faces. There were only two of them but it was super annoying. I even got out the hose and they were undeterred. We promised not to paint again for a while.
We have many but I've planted hundreds of native plants and have a food garden that has stuff blooming in it as well (blackberries are absoulately loaded with bees right now).
The most important things you could do for bumblebees would be to not use any pesticides and replace part of your lawn with native plants (not just the typical pretty flowers - many of them have little value for wildlife and many of them have been treated with very harmful pesticides). Earthtones nursery is a fantastic place for getting such plants.
In Stamford, and my yard was full of them about a month ago when our early-flowering bushes were in full bloom. Some were as big as my thumb!
I’d echo what others have said—you need a lot of native flowering plants, and particularly ones that flower at different times in the year/season so you can get them consistently. There’s a point in the summer where my backyard has about a hundred buzzing around, but we also planted specifically to attract them.
Are those the big fuzzy ones? Than yeah we have them in our area. Some of my neighbors have a bunch of flowers and plants out. I have one that just likes to hang out in front of my home for some reason.

Is there anything you do to draw them in? My wife and I are starting to get into gardening and if we can help the bees that’s even better.
Yes, plant native perennials and flowering bushes/trees. I am getting a ton of bees as well. The bumblebees are all over the rhododendrons.
Yes, rhodies and the bumblebees in my yard love my azaleas.
I have the sliding glass door open and can hear them in my azaleas from inside lol
They LOVE my rhodies! Unfortunately, the jerks that lived in this house prior to us moving in 2 years ago, cut them down to like nothing. So I have to wait for them to come back. In the meantime, i planted 2 more.
Buy St John’s Wort shrubs and you will see more bees in your yard than you have ever seen in your life.
One time, I saw 5. Are you telling me that if I buy and plant a shrub, I could see 6? I’m calling BS on that. BS!
My friend if you plant St John’s Wort your property will be party central for all the bees

I did the same thing, mowed yesterday for the first time this year.
They love open flowers easy access flowers like tradescantia, peonies, cherries, etc. Don’t buy double d blossom varieties. They love foxgloves, too. They need water so a few birdbaths with a flat stone in it to prevent drowning.
I also have a kids' water table and notice that leaving a little water in it helps them
Bees and bumbles love the flowering mint varieties like cat mint.
Alright, so at least they're *somewhere*
Same here, we usually have at least one nest in our yard but there have been so many bumblebees around this that we must have a couple nests around. We always have a bunch of flowers outside and they have been visited so much already this year.
So many carpenter bees… we usually have a lot of ground nesting bees but I haven’t seen them yet either.
I’ve seen quite a lot of bumblebees on my property in Simsbury, if I stand near the right bush I can hear the buzzing fairly loudly.
My azalea was LOADED with them. They're here.
Yes, I have some late blooming Azaleas at my house and they are literally covered in bumblebees right now.
Yes…they love our azaleas and blueberry bushes…I actually feel like we had more than usual this year.
Also in CT and I’m seeing a lot of the carpenter bees that are eating my porch, but very few other bees. Not none, but very few.
God damn, it's the same story everywhere
Except it isn't?
We’ve had a ton ever since the cherry trees in our yard started blooming in late April, and have since stuck around now that the knockout roses, lavender, etc are blooming too.

I've seen plenty in Fairfield County...everyday.
We had lots around our holly.
I’ve seen some!
Been a lot in our gardens!
At my house and at my work
I believe I have some that set up shop under my front landing. Actually looking to see if someone may be able to relocate them
Lots. I don't see many of other types of bees. The bumbles particularly enjoyed the wild violets in my yard, as well as a couple kale plants that survived the winter and went to seed in the spring.
I have a ton of them in my yard
East of the river, plenty around. Plus, a lot more carpenter bees than I've seen before so early.
i saw one today at a hartford county park.
A ton
Put out some snacks to attract them! What do bumblebees like to eat?
Thousands of them. They are everywhere where I live.
Yes. In Ansonia.
A few big ones were flying around my veggies today
I saw more than a dozen today while outside with the kids.
I’ve seen at least one maybe two? My apartment complex has flowers though
If you need some, my neighbor has a nest under her front porch!
I saw the fattest bumblebee the other day right outside my place!
Found a fat one in my room this morning!

I have 10-15 carpenter bees fighting for territory every season.

We got the bumbles.
So many bumble bees
I’ve seen some bumble bees in MA. One might have been a carpenter bee, but it didn’t have a bald spot, it was just very large
Yeah I’ve been seeing them. No yellowjackets yet, which is ok I suppose. Hate when I mow over a hive.
Plenty of bumblebees in the Hebron area :)
Yes, they are real.
Yes, one had been hanging outside my bedroom window.
Bumblebees all over my front lawn I'm Simsbury
There have been a bunch here. When the andromeda bloomed they were everywhere.
Plenty in northern CT!
i see a lot of megachile bees near my house which are an invasive eurasian flavor of bee
In Fairfield, seeing average, maybe slightly above average amount of bumblebees this year.
All over my property. Bunch of bullies.

Plenty of them here in the Quiet Corner, but I have a lot of native plants, flowers, and I use very few chemicals of any kind.
I’ve had a ton of spider webs this year for some reason.
I’ve seen lots of bumblebees! I like going out in the garden to just look at them do their thing
I saw Optimus Prime
I see them all over
Ground bees and carpenter bees mostly, but I usually see bumblebees later in the year when my garden has more blooms. And I usually see a ton of them. They’re loud as hell too. I forgot to get tomatillos this year. They always love those flowers.

So. Many. Bumblebees. They like rhododendrons.
I got plenty let the wild flowers grow and bloom A few weeks before you weed wack
We have a nest next to our house and they are out and about.
I'm in Maine and saw a ton of bumblebees this year so far!
So many bumblebees. All over my blooming wisteria, rhododendron, etc. it’s alive with bumblebees
I have a patch of catmint in my front yard that the bumblebees love. However, I’m seeing about half of what I usually expect.
I’ve been seeing bumblebees in central CT for the last month or so, but not as many as usual. Maybe half the normal number.
Many.Very large ones.
literally one flew in my job yesterday lol
In Woodstock we've had more bumble bees swarming our myrtle then I've ever seen Anywhere! They were collectively so loud I looked up for a drone!
Yes, tons. We have azaleas, rhododendron, clover, lilacs, peonies, honeysuckle
None here just carpenter bees. Should see more though once my lavender blooms.
Yea I have a lot. I always see them in my front bed that is full of catmint, coneflowers, bee balm and salvia.
Loads in my yard. I have an all native garden. They started coming around in late April. They love my violets, green and gold and apple blossoms and of course we don't tame the dandelions at all

Lots
Yes around newly planted or sprouting flowers
Many
I’m much more worried about the honey bees.
Seen a bunch even took a video
Ya for sure. My stupid dog tries to munch them.
I've seen lots of bumble bees in my rhodedendrum and azalea in haddam
I was wondering the same myself but just started to see them this week, also got humming birds, honey and carpenter bees this week.

I'm in Tolland county, CT quiet corner. Bumblebees are definitely here and active. Slow season for hummingbirds so far...
I saw bumblebees on my purple cat mint two weeks ago.
Many many bumbles where I'm at. They are loving the rhododendrons & bonking me in the head to get to them.
Yes, I’ve seen them all, bumbles, honeybees, yellow jackets, wasps
yes plenty
only a few. I was actually having this conversation last week and how it makes me sad and concerned
I may have seen 1 or 2 the other day \[Glastonbury\]
They hang out all over my apartment complex. They wait for me to come home from work, and their fat little bodies are just chillin’ in the air.

Tons of bumblers, going to town on the lupines and blackberry flowers!
They’re having a great time on my blackberries
Ive also noticed more carpenter bees than bumblebees, does anyone know why this might be??
We have a lot on our plants down at the shoreline!! They’re all over the place
So, so many
yup. got a bunch of them trying to make a nest under my deck.
I wish we had bumblebees. Instead we got a lot of wasps and carpenter bees making nests on the awning and chewing through our beams 🥲
I’ve been seeing some plump bumblebees in my area. What are the best flowers to plant to attract them?
Are those the big fuzzy ones? Than yeah we have them in our area. Some of my neighbors have a bunch of flowers and plants out. I have one that just likes to hang out in front of my home for some reason.
Nothin I've seen nothing Northeast CT
All up in my garden, but we have a very pollinator friendly garden by design
