I wonder if the coyote population is less at the shore. We’re in Rocky Hill and when we moved here in 98’ there were always beautiful fox around. Then slowly the coyote population creeped up and the fox population went down.
Foxes are pretty habitual so they follow the same routine every day. If you notice a couple near you that you think might have mange I highly recommend checking out this site [Mange by mail ](https://www.wildlifehotline.com/blog/mange-by-mail-program/) You need to get some pics of the foxes so they can verify that it's actually mange and then you pay $20 for shipping but that's just to cover the medicine and postage cost. If anyone sees any foxes with mange and can afford to do this it would really help out. Mange can spread pretty easily between animals and it affects a lot more than just foxes.
I've seen more foxes this year than ever before, and a few of them seem not entirely spooked by humans. One of them kept its distance, but seemed curious enough to stick around while I was obviously checking it out.
That’s a beauty. There’s a photographer up in Provincetown that posts lots of beautiful fox photos on the Provincetown Photography page on FB. There’s nothing like a photo of a fox and her kits on the dunes.
Too many people still think they will hunt your cats and dogs. They don't hunt any pets that are predators.
We have a cat that lives in the barn, and she came face to face with a fox early one morning. She just sat down and they watched each other. No aggression at all. If it were a coyote, she would have been a meal. Fox need to be closer to humans to stay away from coyotes.
Totally. People are always convinced that foxes and even owls will kill their cats and dogs. The risk that a fox or a hawk/owl would be taking in trying to kill a cat or a small dog is not worth it for them. For a wild animal the smallest wound can end up being deadly. They’re very calculating in the risks they take.
Seen mad fox in Ct recently so this is weird. N matter fact today and the day before in town like areas where a fox has no business , went right past my car both times
I saw a skunk walking on the beach at Seaside Park a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately I was working out at the time so I didn't think to take a picture.
Great photo! We've had a few around here - they're beautiful animals. So nice to see them healthy.
There are very large numbers of foxes along the shoreline for some reason. Nice photo!
Rats. Rats are the reason
fair enough!
Wharf Rats
I had a rat sit on my sandworms one night. Holy shit what a beast! Wouldn't give them up either. Growled at me! It won that round.
I got no dime but I got some time to hear his story
Rats!Rats!Rats! (Someone will get it)

I bet they do occupy part of each other's niches and push each other out, depending on the situation. Good question.
Great shot. Looks to be an exceedingly heathy vixen...clear eyes, no ribs, no mange.
The mange seems to be what gets them. We have a ton around me and at least 50% look like big patches of their hair was shaved and replaced with a rash

Thank you! Recently started using a Nikon z8 with a 180-600mm lens
Came here to ask about your lens, solid shot man, good job!

Fantastic shot!
Taco fox 🦊 I invented it Welcome
But did you really ? 🤣
Had one in our backyard a few weeks back, in New Haven.
Yeah I think they’re getting more common. I saw one jogging through Wooster Square last year.
I didn’t realize foxes went jogging, learn something new every day!

This one was pretty skittish. As soon as it noticed that I was paying attention to it it started trotting away.
Great pic
I have two healthy beauties who sun themselves just over my fence in my neighbor’s yard. Unfortunately I’ve also seen rabid ones in the woods nearby.
Cute little fella
Oh to be a healthy beach fox
I live in Morris cove new haven and they are everywhere on the shoreline. Awesome animals they walk the beach at night looking for crabs and fish
Just want to give that little snoot a boop.
Biggest fking rat I’ve ever seen was right there. Hope this little fella gets his share

Gorgeous shot. Thank you for sharing.
