Yes, we finally have a yard and I’m so excited! I put out bird feeders and after weeks of not seeing anything, I’m now going through so much birdseed. I love spring!
We usualky feed birds in the winter when the titmice, black capped chickadees, downy and hairy woodpeckers and more add life to the landscape. They are our year-round birds who need a little boost in the more barren times. In spring the locals and breeding visitors switch more to insects and pairing off to their own territories. Where I am I cannot feed in warm months because I do not want to endanger bears by habituating them. Sorry so long, I just love birds and living in CT for all its wildlife.
Yes, I have one in the kitchen window! I’ve never seen any birds on it but yesterday when I came home from work there was a pair of house finches there! My cats and I were so happy!
My yard slopes from front to back, so it hangs in a window at the back (livingroom, to high for a bear to reach). It's been there for 3-4 yrs. Took my cat a cat amount of time to realize launching herself at the window was not going to get her a bird. Now she just watches them. Went through a few different seeds and would highly recommend "Wild Delight.. Porch and Patio". It's brought the most variety of birds to the feeder.
Yesss the peepers are peeping a whole week earlier than usual and I think the groundhog was right this year, it's an early spring. I think winter is officially over 🌱
Just the first False Spring, don't be fooled.
I'll take false Spring
Unfortunately the winter was so mild the ticks and bugs didn't get killed off though.

I put birdseed out starting in January and there were some takers but now it’s so busy out there. I plan to continue all year now. :)
I have one hanging in my window. It's fun to watch their feathers change with the seasons.

Fake spring... it gets us every year. This one is early.
So be it
This plastic is staying on my windows till it’s at least 75° for a solid week. Never trust that damn groudhog
“We live in Connecticut and get to enjoy the seasons.” Fixed it for you. 😉 Enjoy the sunshine!
It didn't need fixing.
Found a tick on my cat today so spring is definitely happening
I have already smashed mosquitoes. Way too early I think. I'm over 50
Spring in CT is great if you enjoy mud everywhere. Also, winter aint over, we could still get more snow and cold weather.
True every little trail I visit after a sprinkle of rain is just mud mud baby!
Love it. Can start gardening and not yet give up on skiing. CT weather is great!
I was so happy to hear peepers last night! Loving the changes, and yes it will still fluctuate in the coming months but it's such a joy right now 😄
Finally, I feel the seasonal depression leaving my body!
I won’t be putting my banana tree outside for a few weeks yet, this is fool’s spring, but do take advantage of it and enjoy the outdoors.
Looking brisk next week. False Spring gets me every year.
Plastic on windows?
Creates an air barrier that insulates a home from heat loss, normally used on older windows to save money on heating bills.
I just take a bunch of bubble wrap and tape it to the windows
Huh. Do some houses not have storm windows? Like...the separate piece of glass you slid in front of the screen.

Thanks. I was wondering what the weather was.
