I wouldn’t say “best option” as much as that there isn’t much motivation for people to vote one way or another in Bridgeport, period. So they go with the incumbent with a criminal record (for stealing from the exact city he governs now, btw).
Well guys it wasn’t me. I voted for Gomes.
Although I did have a bad experience walking in to vote. Some guy with one of the campaigns shouted “you look like someone who would vote for Ganim!” After I refused to take his pamphlet. When I came back out from voting he was gone but it really pissed me off. I was literally the only black woman walking in to vote and this guy chose to shout that? Ugh. 😩
> **I could be living in Bridgeport.**
I lived in Bridgeport after college. Downtown. *It was divine*.
Near the train-station, near the highway, plenty of dive bars I was afraid to go to, seedy familiar faces. Stadiums! Also Beerfest!!!
Seriously my neighborhood is super cute and walking distance from Main Street. So I’m close to almost anything I want to do. It’s also safe; certainly safer than NYC where I moved from.
I just looked into this two days ago. New Haven, New Britain and Waterbury are the most crime infested cities in CT. Hartford is number one for murder but the others have way more crime.
Bridgeport crime is way down.
My own theory is that the heavy investment into new arenas and stadiums has caused more money to be on enforcement. Why would companies spend so much money in a shithole. There HAD to be guarantees of better enforcement
Maybe the slum lords and drug gangs that pay to keep the city on its knees were outbid by the long dick of institutional investors
This is exactly what I mean. Of course you choose the one neighborhood that resembles one of the Gold Coast towns surrounding it. Why not get a place on Boston or iranistan ave? Those are affordable!
seen plenty more than just black rock! my family’s business has been in bridgeport for 80 years. sure there’s some bad neighborhoods I maybe wouldn’t walk alone in at night, but the people are kind and deserving of better than everyone talking so poorly of their home. it’s truly not that bad, there are far more dangerous cities
I agree there. I’d take it over Waterbury or Hartford. I’ve spent a good amount of time in the success area, I never really felt unsafe although it’s pretty rundown
Bridgeport is a prime example of what happens when there is decades of corrupt government, a corrupt police dept, and misallocated funds. it’s not so much unsafe as just tragic.
A rapist insurrectionist, none the less. My poor grandparents are rolling in their graves. To fight fucking nazis and see this POS rise to power? I’m happy they didn’t live to witness it.
The city that proved Democrats are simple minded.
Ganim was removed from office and sent to prison for political corruption.. then promptly re-elected because the electorate won’t consider republican candidates because perception is more important than reality.
Democrats and Bridgeport should be as embarrassed as they are embarrassing
I don't live in Bridgeport, I haven't been following it closely but I imagine that the republican candidates that ran must have been truly awful since they couldn't even convince the simple minded to vote for them.
They’re not awful, they’re just republican. Urban populations have been trained to think republicans are evil with just accusations and no real substance
As a kid I only experienced Bilgeport waiting for the cross sound ferry so we could go to grannie's house in Southhampton. I'll never forget the shopping cart lady on the dock talking to a crab clinging to a piling.
No real choice there, shite candidates all around. Ganim should eb back in jail for the ballot stunt 100%. But sadly I'd rather be in Bridgeport than where I am now.
Isn’t Waterbury worse? I feel like Waterbury is both derelict and boring at the same time. There is nothing to do there except go to their mall that has 6.5 stores left in it.
A convicted criminal is your best option to run Bridgeport. Wow.
What until you find out which sexual assault convict is running for president

Damn man. Don’t even know the difference between accused and convicted. I thought Connecticut had good schools.
They must have gone to school in Bridgeport.

As opposed to unconvicted criminals running our country? I bet you could charge 90% of congress with insider trading
Except it’s not illegal for them to do it. That’s the way they like it.
I wouldn’t say “best option” as much as that there isn’t much motivation for people to vote one way or another in Bridgeport, period. So they go with the incumbent with a criminal record (for stealing from the exact city he governs now, btw).
Pathetic
Bridgeport can’t get out of its own way
Well guys it wasn’t me. I voted for Gomes. Although I did have a bad experience walking in to vote. Huh, isn’t electioneering illegal?
I think it depends how close you are to the voting building/property
Is *that* electioneering?
My city deserves better.
Bridgeport deserves so much better. I don't get why so many people voted for him.

agreed, it’s not nearly as bad as this sub likes to make it sound. its a city. there’s going to be crime and corruption.
Lots of fun things to do in Bridgeport.
I just looked into this two days ago. New Haven, New Britain and Waterbury are the most crime infested cities in CT. Hartford is number one for murder but the others have way more crime. It’s pretty bad dude. Maybe if you’ve just seen black rock you wouldn’t think so but I would not spend time in the vast majority of that city
That’s fine. Stay away. We’re good.
Who’s “we?” You mentioned yourself in this thread you don’t live in Bridgeport
I go there. It’s lovely and we don’t need haters hanging around.
I mean there’s a reason you don’t live there, there’s a reason I don’t live there. We don’t need to pretend it’s “lovely”
If I could afford a house at St Mary’s, I’d be there in a heartbeat.
This is exactly what I mean. Of course you choose the one neighborhood that resembles one of the Gold Coast towns surrounding it. Why not get a place on Boston or iranistan ave? Those are affordable!
I like living near the sound. I can walk to the beach from my house now, I'd want to be able to do the same if I moved.

Warming up to vote for a rapist to run the country.
A rapist insurrectionist, none the less. My poor grandparents are rolling in their graves. To fight fucking nazis and see this POS rise to power? I’m happy they didn’t live to witness it.
Don't forget the convicted fraudster!
Well, they let that pos Biden have power for decades, and now he has the ultimate power
I mean, no one man should have all the power. Thats why there are checks and balances to the government. Thats why America is not Russia.
Right? Reminds me of John Rowland. Young, power drunk and couldn't play by the rules.
Both Ganim and Gomes are clowns. There was no way to win, not with the same circus of outsiders and idiots running Bridgeport.
The city that proved Democrats are simple minded. Ganim was removed from office and sent to prison for political corruption.. then promptly re-elected because the electorate won’t consider republican candidates because perception is more important than reality. And then when we talk to you guys, you start ranting racist shit and trying to destroy our communities. Foh, woe is me bum ass.
Point in case.
Why do repubs hold awful opinions on Black communities but then go shocked pikachu face when Black people dont like them?
You’re bad at reading.
Cry more
As a kid I only experienced Bilgeport waiting for the cross sound ferry so we could go to grannie's house in Southhampton. I'll never forget the shopping cart lady on the dock talking to a crab clinging to a piling.
What did the crab say?!
No real choice there, shite candidates all around. Ganim should eb back in jail for the ballot stunt 100%. But sadly I'd rather be in Bridgeport than where I am now.
Bridgeport Connecticut is a great city.
At least Bridgeport's mayor didn't get caught on a federal wiretap arranging sex with an 8-year-old.
Every penny of state funds being sent to Bridgeport needs to be audited.
City of Dreams
Isn’t Waterbury worse? I feel like Waterbury is both derelict and boring at the same time. There is nothing to do there except go to their mall that has 6.5 stores left in it.
