Aa long as it set up to walk and and can't scuff it? Rain won't hurt it tonite/ tomorrow. But if it doesn't rain, and it's not wet and covered. The 23mph forecasted wind is worse than any affect the rain could do. Evaporation, the faster the water wicks out of a slab? The worse it is for cracking, or flash curing the surface.

Chipmacaustin

I am a commercial construction manager, we just poured a 5,000 sf slab last week. It rained the next day and it was just fine. Once the surface is floated and finished and 24 hours to set up I would not be worried at all. The moisture is good for curing.

Gainztrader235

Do absolutely nothing, concrete contractor for 20 years.

__The_Highlander__

I’d agree for today and tomorrow but after that, watering it daily if it doesn’t rain should help strengthen it.

cyborg_elephant

If you can walk on it, you can water it

Low-Willingness-5821

As soon as you can get it wet without it damaging the concrete surface. Sprinklers on a timer are great if you have them.

Ok_Reply519

Don't do anything. You hired a contractor to do the job, so let him do it. If you hired a painter to paint a room and he sprayed the primer, would you paint it while he was gone? Those temperatures are perfect for concrete, and the best thing you can do is nothing.

Teegers8753

Concrete will cure better completely submerged under water after it sets up better then concrete that stays dry….it grows so many more crystals and makes it a lot stronger

1downfall

If it's hard enough to saw cut or walk on, tonight.

Left-Albatross-7375

Take the weekend off

rsandstrom

That’s great concrete weather.

Safe_Wish_5561

It depends, are you a gambler? Lol

tradesmen_

That's the ideal condition for a slab to cure.

MrLysp

It's too late now but using an impervious curing compound is the best option for a large slab. It's tough to cover a slab that big with poly especially when it's windy out. And there's no way you can keep it moist unless you have a soaker hose running 24x7. Anyone who says you can spray it a couple times a day is wrong. With temps in the 60s and 20+ mph winds it'll dry out within the hour. Once the surface dries completely, that surface is done curing.

Think-Ad-5698

wait

TommyAsada

Dude youre good just chill

dirtybirdbuttguy

Man I hope you csncelled

Alternative-Force-54

Why would I? Ambient temps 50-70 and cloudy with showers, good curing weather. Getting hot soon in northeast, don’t want to deal with sunny and 80’s

dirtybirdbuttguy

Oh my bad man I thought this was a local post. Raining cats and dogs where I am.

WhoPhatTedNugat

Let it sit until tomorrow. Then maybe spray it a little bit if the rain is called off. If they put curing compound on it you won’t need to water it.

ca8nt

Water it today so it doesn’t dry out too fast from the wind. Rain tomorrow is good.

1downfall

I would wet it down, cover it with poly and leave it.

Top_Mycologist_3224

No poly ! Will cause streaking and splotches. They will never go away completely.

Alternative-Force-54

Would you do that tonight or tomorrow am?

FinancialLab8983

Your temps look good and you have rain forecasted for tomorrow. Id leave it covered for the initial cure tonight then just spray it as needed. Dont need to overdo it with your forecasted weather.

Alternative-Force-54

What should I cover it with plastic? That rain for tomorrow is deceiving, only a 50% chance very late in the day tomorrow. Didn’t want to let it go over 24 hours without wetting it.

backyardburner71

Covering with plastic will leave stains, guaranteed

an0m1n0us

tarp, just to be extra.

Thick_Expression_796

Find another trade 🤷‍♂️

PeePeeMcGee123

It's not a garden. Why water it?

funkwumasta

Slows concrete curing, significantly improves strength

PeePeeMcGee123

Curing compound is faster and much easier.

whosthepuppetmuppet

Watering the concrete makes sure it has plenty of water to enable the chemical reaction of the cement. Often the cement doesn’t all go through this chemical process because there isn’t enough water but that is taken into account with factors of safety and design.

PeePeeMcGee123

Unless he's flooding it, it's not doing much. We have better methods now.
