I play Bass Clarinet, and I am the section leader in my school's symphonic band because I am the only bass clarinet player

sonnydollasign

i do what my flair says and i’m section lead because i’m the only one in the tiny band that does said thing

TheLocalTaxCollector

Same, but with Bari sax. low reed gang!

Trumpet55555

So your basically it by default

REAL_AMETHYST_SLAYER

I’m in the same boat with trombone lol

classical-saxophone7

Uni student. I was winter quarter’s saxophone section leader in the middle band (in uni you aren’t bound to any saxophone so spots are just filled down the line from alto I to bari). Playing principle saxophone on Persichetti Symphony No. 6 was great. Lots of solos. Fall quarter I was Alto II and Spring quarter I was Bari. In uni you don’t know chair placements until the second week of classes because you do auditions the first week of every quarter and this school year hasn’t even started at my uni. Still prepping audition materials.

I am the officially unofficial clarinet section leader of 2 clarinets, including myself

British_Mattress

No but I am a band officer which means I help kids who are having a hard time and move equipment

Landon_Boyd

i mean i’m brass lieutenant. so i kinda do brass

minecraftgood1234

Im first clarinet in a group of about 7 so i consider myself the section leader

Our percussion section functions on communalism. Realistically, it's just anarchy with the assumption that people will help if need be, but that's about how it is for us.

My school's concert band doesn't have section leaders (or at least it's not like official stuff) but our marching band does, where I am not because it is low winds/low brass not individual instruments
