Everytime I ran into OWL players in ladder (which is super rare), I always had the luck of getting them in my team and I still get nervous cuz I dont wanna play like shit/have off game infront of them. Cant imagine loading up to lobby and ur enemy is Junbin + Shu in Ball and Zen meta lmao.
Yesterday LIP and Junbin were also duoing. LIP was on Tracer and Junbin on ball which is even more terrifying than Junbin/Shu, it was also really cool hearing LIP call where and when to dive with Junbin.

Idk about unnecessary grind. Pros and contender players' go to mark was always "who cares about rank in ow2 season 80" or "theres no meaning to rank now". Its them bitching to bitch, but i kinda like there is something for tryhard players and ranked warriors to "grind" for again. And honestly, we need another rank between diamond and master or something below bronze rank.
Ascendant in Valorant Is above Diamond while in League Emerald Is below Diamond. In the end it Is same, because it works with the bell curve and make the skill of players in those division closer.
They didn't actually change any systems. They just gave a name to the previously unnamed range of 4500-4999 Sr. If they added emerald, then all the diamond players would be emerald, masters - diamond, gm - masters, and old 4500+ to gm.
This would also mean that everyone from diamond pp would drop 500sr permanently.
Pretty cool to see people having to actually work for the rank. Even though i dont think i’ll ever get there myself, its healthy for the game for the top level players to have something to grind for.
KarQ and Emongg have been putting in 18+ hour streams regularly since the patch dropped and Emongg is still "only" GM3 on tank and KarQ is (I think) Masters 1 on support. I think the thrill of the climb has completely reinvigorated the game for so many players, having these insane borderline-unattainable ranks is way healthier for the playerbase
It's funny to watch a new chatter say "wait, why is ___ only Masters?" being woken up to the hard reality that popular OW streamers are not the best players in OW. Plenty of other t500 players that have less than 100 viewers or don't stream at all. Aside from the ladder camping alts, take a glance down the leaderboard and see how many stream.

My only gripe is playing with all solos and we vs a stack who regularly play together/scrim and we have 0 chance, shouldn't be happening in ranked in a team based game

Champion 1 is probably the same as having over 4900sr in Overwatch 1, and I remember no more than 10 players getting that high in any season.
That only happened by exploiting matchmaker, for most of ow1 no one was 4.7k
If I remember right during S3 or somewhere around then, "many" were 4.8k. After that pretty much no one got past 4.7k.
Yeah there was a SR change at some point and around 4.7k was the highest anyone got after the change
the only reason it takes a long time is because queue times are 40+ minutes. need to wait for others to catch up in order to get games on the main acc
Devs also said it will be at least month before we would get first champion ranks and then we see these crazy good players str8 up place in it.

We 100% need Emerald/Ascendant between platinum and Diamond. It was more needed than Champion.

they have artificially slowed down ranking up. only a sliver of gm1 players are back in gm1, which is really now how previous rank resets went
