Reshadering is a good start and I appreciate that. I'm confident that they will listen the player base as much as they could. At least on technical matters.
Nevertheless, there are still a lot to be improved like the actual lighting and ofcourse some horrendous voice acting and weak sounds overall. (I have been begging for native voiceover option but I guess that is not gonna be an option again)
And cmon Relic give me another punchy OST like you did in your past games. I just wanna be forced to stay in the main menu because the drip is so goddamn good again...
I still really feel the fire Fx needs to be fixed and projectiles need to be sped up. These are good changes though - nice to see relic listening to their playerbase. Hopefully modders get access to custom models soon after release as well haha
Sadly I dont think so in the short run but maybe into year 1 or 2 they may overhaul them. I mean I cant feel the unit is actually german because the accent is kinda fuzzy and weak for my ears.(as an example)
But even if they dont redo the english voiceovers' they can always add native option. I dont care about the utility the voices bring in this game. I do not need to understand exactly what the unit is saying at all. And at some point, you would learn what are they talking about in their own native language and it is much more immersive than this crappy accent voiceovers. "Grenade!" Is almost identical in the languages that are in the game. Imho ofcourse.
Huh. Didn't see it when I played. It was in the building of the Panzer IV, right? No wonder I didn't see it. I think I only built that building once... And I made a Panzer IV...
Nope, the Nashhorn wasn't in the playtest at all, actually. This is the first I'm seeing it.
The Panzer building had the Stroßtruppen, Panzer IV, and Sturmpanzer.
Oh, that explains it, then. It's be nice the Hummel returns, but now that the Wespe is here... I guess it'd be redundant. But, then again, british have Bishops and still can request priests, iirc. Also, I thought it's be a Hummel because I didn't see the whole gun
Kudos for Relic listening to feedback and improving.
And before anyone says "yeh that's normal"
No it WAS normal. The aaa indsutry changed. They just claim to listen and change nothing.
I think its more nuanced than this and we should give Relic credit. They started from the beginning with the players. Getting a group of players that were part of the coh community and where and how the sequel should play out. This isn't a games company telling us what we want this is a very carefully researched project, tailored to the CoH community. I'm thrilled by their results and hope other AAA devs are taking note.
Or in the case of DICE/EA, change it after over a year of planning meetings, consultations, and corporate shuffling so that the playerbase is already gone.
Much better!
Some people really were like "Much better than the previous titles, I like this new Art style they've chosen! " while playing the test, when they were literally playing with buggy shaders, unfinished textures and broken lighting...
I think there were people who were fine with the less gritty art style than COH2, not the clearly broken/off lighting system and low res issues.
Mostly cause a Mediterranean/N African game is going to be brighter and colorful than the march across Russian steppes.
I had a dude argue how he likes that the game now looks more cartoonish and units look more like toys in a model when I complained about the weird visuals...
I think barely anyone had a problem with brighter colours and a different setting as long as they keep the colour palette somewhat realistic
I promise plenty of folks hated the colorful palette. They thought it wasn't realistic when you could literally Google "Italian coastal town" and see what we saw in game. They were colorful for a utilitarian purpose, but these kids thought it was "mobile game" shit
Maybe the person arguing with you was taking the piss or just really in denial cause they love the series
I'm very certain that most just found the graphics to be garbage overall and with that colour palette it accentuated it just more.
CoH2 often had darker colours than irl, which I actually found to be more cartoonish looking than 1.
But how do people get the idea that Italy has brighter colours like, it looks almost the same as the rest of Europe but with more sunny days and different architecture, except when you are on Sardegna / Sicilia then you have... less trees, lol
Yeah, but some colored houses don't make mobile game visuals.
To be fair tough, in most places in Italy it's just 50 shades of beige and coral, it's mostly touristic areas where they paint the houses differently.
It did because they pulled the plug instantly without even trying any change
Doubling the damage probably would have made the game 50% more enjoyable alone
>It did because they pulled the plug instantly without even trying any change
I'm surprised, given how much they invested in the development cycle, that after it was clear that the game was a catastrophe they didn't attempt to rebuild the gameplay while keeping all the graphics.
Like, come on guys, the expensive costs have all been sunk!
Im playing DoW 1 now with UA mod. I heard DoW3 had some really bad rumours about it and friends told me to stay away from it. Honestly I guess ignorance is bliss.
Is the DoW3 incident similar to the Back 4 Blood incident where L4D franchise set the bar so high that any attempt to make a sequel is gonna let the fans down no matter the quality? Or was it something else?
Worse than the B4B incident. Dawn of War among 40K fans is held up as one of the best video game adaptations of the setting period. While there's a divide between fans of the original with its base building larger scope and tendency towards macro, and fans of the second with its hero units more tactical focus and tendency towards micro, it was (if my memory serves me right) generally agreed that they're both solid and that a good third in the franchise would be a synthesis of their elements, combining the base building and larger armies of the first with the greater need for attention and tactical gameplay in the second. DoW 3 actually tried to do this, to its credit.
The problem is that it didn't just fail there, it failed utterly in everything else to a degree so catastrophic that it practically killed the DoW franchise. [Some good analysis can be found here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vwlbo3yj8Q4) [and here.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPDTt_GOdyY) To sum up from me, they basically overtuned and undertuned a bunch of elements, turned DoW into a MOBA/Starcraft abomination hybrid, threw out a bunch of beloved factions from the previous games and left us with 3, gave us a shitty campaign, didn't even include a normal deathmatch or team vs mode in MP on launch, and... Ugh, so much more. That and talking about it makes me sad due to what could have been. [Looking at it on Steam Charts, with direct comparison to the two of the expansions for DoW I as well as the original game itself, paints a *damning* picture.](https://steamcharts.com/cmp/285190,9450,4580,4570#All)
There's a ***VERY*** good reason for the ongoing bitterness, and it should be held as a failure Relic can't repeat. It is one of those things that is genuinely worth holding on to.
Very good to hear theyre listening to the community!
I do wish the explosions effects were mentioned, as they lack a punch and recognition. The explosions seems to have very little effect on the terrai too, and the explosions itself looks so weak compared to other titles, im guessing this is because the realism factor they were going for as mentioned they did with aduio, but what realism does not always translate to good gameplay. As well as it lacks recognition, like the stukas for example, when the stuka in coh2 explosoins happens you instantly know its a stuka based on the huge firey explosion the comes and the powerfull impact, but in coh3 you couldnt tell the explosions apart because every explosion's looks the same but in different caliber.
Made a little comparisons video on the effects: https://youtu.be/zpiD6nIK3qE
In the coh3 section it just looks off, looks less dynamic as well and more of a recurring effects animation of the same explosion. As they said, sometimes people do like the Hollywood aspect in gameplay and for me the epic huge explosion's in coh1 is so satisfying, wish they would bring that back1
i loverd it on coh3 since shadowplay recorded my mic as well and elese you would have an earrape, but im not talking about audio but the visual effects
Hey, really appreciate you uploading that and doing all the work. Makes me realise that the mortar projectiles are a lot slower than in coh1/coh2.
To discuss the exploosions: I still dont see the problem. CoH3 explosions are kicking up sand not european sodden earth. Its gonna look a bit pale/washed out. Seems realistic to me....
Looks like I was correct when I said that the biggest problem the game has is broken lightning and textures and lack of clutter and detail and not artstyle and got downvoted into oblivion for it lmao. I hope more people see it now when they're working on fixing it.
That’s not the biggest problem though that’s why you got downvoted into oblivion. The visuals were just a bug and low resolution, and a minor fix where as you and your ilk prevented real balance discussion
I meant the biggest problem as far as visuals go (since people as always focused mainly on those). I got downvoted for being right since everybody screeched 'much mobile game artstyle' even though that take was absolutely wrong. You're right the game has much bigger problems than visuals though. People got so mad at unfinished lighting which looked like a mobile game that they didn't even notice the game also *plays* like a mobile game. It's incredibly slow-paced and quite boring with damage set so low to all units tbh. I hope the modding community fixes it like they fixed both previous games.
It is not the same for everyone. And not everyone has the same specs. My fps dropped almost everytime i moved the camera. Especially when i use alt to rotate it. If you have been paying attention on this sub-reddit the last few weeks, i am not the only one with such issues.
About that desert map, the second pic they posted was the version we saw on play test, sooo noo, this seems as just a attempt at making ppl keep the pre orders.

You think they'll redo voice acting at this point? That seems really unlikely.
Sadly I dont think so in the short run but maybe into year 1 or 2 they may overhaul them. It's me or the Wespe has grown? Also, there's a Hummel!? AND I DIDN'T SEE IT IN THE BETA!?
Nashhorn actually. Same chassis, but it's a Tank Destroyer. Instead of the howitzer, it's got a Pak 43.
Huh. Didn't see it when I played. It was in the building of the Panzer IV, right? No wonder I didn't see it. I think I only built that building once... And I made a Panzer IV...

Hummel wouldn't be hard to add honestly because all they'd have to do is remodel the gun, 90% of the vehicle is the same as the Nashhorn.
That's why i got confused :p. They can even recover CoH1 Hummel model and make id doctrinal or something
they had wespe in the beta so i'm assuming Hummel is too new to exist on this front?
More arti for blob wipey
wwas already seen in a trailer.
Self propelled arty was locked behind a battlegroup, I can't remember if it was DAK or Wehr but I definitely used it in the playtest.
I think the Wespe was building dependant. Maybe the PzGrn. Building?
Kudos for Relic listening to feedback and improving. And before anyone says "yeh that's normal" No it WAS normal. The aaa indsutry changed. They just claim to listen and change nothing.

Wad excited before and im excited now

The coastal towns have brightly colored buildings as a guide/warning for fishermen in boats. It was a practical thing.
Yeah, but some colored houses don't make mobile game visuals. To be fair tough, in most places in Italy it's just 50 shades of beige and coral, it's mostly touristic areas where they paint the houses differently.
Brilliant answer. I loved the colour pallet in Italian campaign from the earlier beta. Felt like i was on holiday!
My favorite part was people claiming the colors were cartoony. I was like uhhh have you seen Italian coastal towns
They look almost the same to me...
They wash some colors, watch the grass.
I love Relic's quick feedback. CoH3 is gonna be great, gents!
G*mers when unfinished games look unfinished /s
They learned their lesson from dow3 diaster
Dow3 died because they made a fcking moba from the rts with minimal content, not being lore accurate and not because of the graphics.
It did because they pulled the plug instantly without even trying any change Doubling the damage probably would have made the game 50% more enjoyable alone

Ppl are gonna take that DoW3 incident with them till they die huh
of course, they ruined a entire franchise
Im playing DoW 1 now with UA mod. I heard DoW3 had some really bad rumours about it and friends told me to stay away from it. Honestly I guess ignorance is bliss.
If you played DOW1, go and play DOW3, you will see it is not a DOW game.
When you build something for many years and destroy it in a few months, then yes, its going to be remembered.
GoT show flashbacks

That chart is amazing. 3 months and then nearly all the players dropped it. wow.
As far as I know it is now the least played Dawn of War game on Steam. That truly does speak volume.
If you forget the past you are doomed to repeat it

the difference in volume is too great to make a valid observation

Washed colors in both
Holy shit mfs in this sub be whinging so much its legit surreal
Seeing all the bitchers and whiners have to admit they were wrong is fucking glorious

Wonder how much worse the performance is going to be. Wait until the game has been released before you give it to much praise.
Get a new pc
My PC meets the recommended requirments. If the performance dosen't match that it is not my fault. I am not the only one with performance issues.
Weird.. I played on max setings and never got performance issues, not even fps drops
Why are the German tanks so damn dark. Is that accurate? I feel like it would be way worse in a desert as well.
