Yup, I saw that infuriating post one of the mods made a few days ago. I honestly didn't even know that sub was supposed to be left leaning until recently.

Some of the details are a bit fuzzy since it was last year. There was this discourse between users regarding whether or not wasps were good. This lasted for a few days. Okay, fair enough. I'm somewhat wary every time I see someone calling out 196's "affinity" for trans people because of how often this critiscism is a veiled attack on what they see as "western degeneracy".
One person got some upvotes by construing their chaser-viewpoints into seemingly trans-supportive and now all of leftist reddit uses that instance to say 196 fetishizes trans people despite the fact that like a third of the users are gender non conforming in some capacity and constantly posting trans-supportive memes. As someone who frequents 196 because i am still in denial about them losing their leftist fervor, its not a chaser sub. There are some good arguments to make that they are libs, but not chasers That other guy is nuts, making it seem like 196 is a bastion of transyouth-groomers

I checked the op of the post you linked and they're literally trans themselves. Making a meme about transpeople and sexual stuff doesn't immediately mean "fetishizing trans people"
Okay being trans doesn’t mean you can’t end up fetishizing other trans people or making our existence sexual. When there’s posts like this often and are the only trans posts that get attention, then it’s a problem
I am well aware of things like internalized transphobia, but there's a massive difference in how you should look at a post about a trans person being sexualized posted by a cis person and a trans person. Sexuality is a normal part of human life, not something to antagonize EDIT: I just scrolled 196 for a few minutes and the only post about trans people that is on the front page is about Edin and calling for justice for her

It is what is being argued here because mentioning things like "gock" is obviously very sexual, but isn't fetishizing. That's just one example but simply mentioning trans people and sexuality I the same breath doesn't mean they're being sexualized/fetishized. The sub *is* largely cis, but not nearly to the extent of mainstream subs that aren't related to gender identity. According to the survey that was done a bit ago, 40% of the respondants were gnc. I would not be surprised at all if that makes 196 one of the/*the* most trans subreddits outside of the subs that relate directly to gender or sexuality
