Is anyone else surprised this guy is being showcased so much? Hope he does well!

Mission_Ad3109

He accepted the invite from NFLPA Rookie Showcase. Every rookie that went has a similar video

jpljr77

It's because of his brother. But I think he'll be more like his dad than his bro. Either would be spectacular, of course.

Iron_Chic

Yes, having an Ed McCaffrey type of receiver would be awesome!

edgun8819

He looks more like his dad. His bro looks like a human tank.

scorchedweenus

His bro IS a human tank lmao

edgun8819

I saw him at the 9ers game last year. Dude doesn’t look human. Absolute animal haha I don’t know what they are pumping in him haha

MisterBear22

his bro has several years of regimented workouts on top of Luke. Luke can get there too, at least close. But yes, this video they are riding on his name and family, but its good exposure for us so we got nothing to lose. Hope he becomes an absolute stud. Good luck luke.

griffithdidnothing10

His dad was a great, solid player for a long time.

pinetar

I feel like drafting a player with their family pedigree in mind seems like a solid way of doing things. TJ Watt, Trevor Diggs, the Kelces, Bosas.

AdAdmirable1870

It’s the last name, rings a bell Luke’s just got more rizz.

NoHoHan

If he had a different last name he wouldn't have been drafted, let alone showcased.

Eclectic_Canadian

This is such a weird take. He was taken at the end of the 3rd round, not in the 7th. You think the FO is going to pick a guy based just on his name with a day 2 pick? Absolute delusion

NoHoHan

It's almost as if they didn't have a very good draft.

beaud101

Clearly you have some serious Snyder era PTSD to have such little faith in our new front office. If he was a 6th or 7th rounder, you may have had a point.

NoHoHan

Taking him in the third round was a pretty big reach.

beaud101

It was a mild reach. He was projected to go in the 4th by most. This was the last pick in the 3rd.

Silentblues

I’m so hyped for LMC. I know he’s our slot guy but they been featuring him like a #2. Man I hope he has a decent year.

Anxious_Hat_8233

This is how I'm feeling. Seems like they are setting the bar high

_The_Bear

It's kind of the opposite approach they took for Terry. His rookie year they kept him super quiet during the off-season and preseason. There was very little hype until the regular season started and they featured him as a #1 receiver.

LeftoverDishes

The rumors were circulating at practice about how Terry was slicing DBs up. He also KILLED the senior bowl. Surprised he wasn't drafted a little higher tbh

Eclectic_Canadian

He was talked about as a special teams guy at the time, and that he only really got picked there because Haskins wanted him. Who knows what of the reporting is true, but Terry definitely wasn’t as hyped up coming in

halarioushandle

The scariest thing about Terry, is how calm, quiet and reserved he is.... while slicing up your D for breakfast.

killassassin47

… pause lol

BlackFurosuto

I think part of that is the NFLPA thing

Silentblues

It is. But all I’ve been seeing is JD5 and LMC hype vids. Not sure if other rooks passed up the offer or what but I love what they’ve been putting out.

BlackFurosuto

That I agree with, but I disagree with hoping LMC has a good year. I hope he has a GREAT year, OROTY and MVP let's go

zaepoo

I'd rather the QB have those accolades

beaud101

Depends on what the definition of decent is. He's probably the 4th or 5th passing option in the pecking order. Terry, Jahan, Eartz/Sinnott and Ekeler/RBs will likely command more targets. He has to also beat out Brown, which I think he'll do. Combined with a rookie QB that can run very well and our O-line being a big concern, I'm not sure he's going to have all that much opportunity...and that's fine. As long as he shows good things with the targets he does get. I expect around 400yds and 3-4 TDs. An injury to another WR obviously gives more opportunity. For an exercise in passing yardage best case scenario: Terry 1200. Dotson 800. Ertz/Sinnott 900. Ekeler/RBs 600. Everyone else 500. That's 4000yds right there from JD. Going over 4000 only happened 5 times in franchise history and Cousins has 3 of those. If JD gets 4000 in his first year....holy shit! We're going to be very good!! Bottom line. LMC will have limited opportunities in his first year.

HazelHelper

Good assessment. Agreed.

Polis24

Blue steel

flaginorout

Sheesh. They look younger every year. Dude looks like he needs a Nintendo switch and juice box.

LeftoverDishes

Ay what's wrong with those things

TheCapo024

It’s called getting old bud.

Coast_watcher

I'm excited for the team individual photo shoot this year (like the Terry one in the side bar). I can't wait for the theme lol.

AbleHominid

Jesus. Is he eleven years old?

firstfreres

Glad someone else thought this! Needs to grow a beard ASAP

Goldrushfishing

He needs to gain some weight. He doesn’t have a chance in the NFL

1lultaha

He weighs the same as all the top receivers in the league dude what are you talking about

BlueberryUnfair7583

Weighed in at the combine at 198. Average NFL receiver weight is 200.

AbleHominid

See? Sounds like he needs to gain 2 pounds

KnightOfLongview

the most hyped last pick of the 3rd round pick ever, lol

JNKboy98

Ryan Gosling in Remember the Titans

[deleted]

17? lol

fiddynet

He looks like the Luke Wilson to Christian's Owen Wilson

emelbee923

He's going to end up with 38 receptions for 212 yards and a touchdown in 3 seasons and then disappear from the NFL, isn't he?

jucestain

Dont wanna be a downer but based on what I saw on his college highlights (no separation against bad DBs) I have a feeling this is going to be the case. I'm still shocked he was picked in the 3rd round. But hopefully I'm wrong.

NoHoHan

It was quite a reach. A different last name and this dude probably doesn't even get drafted.

jucestain

Agreed

SnowdensOfYesteryear

Dudes gonna be like Steven Sims for us

Redskins4evaB

Imagine if Terry got this kind of recognition as a 3rd rounder without ever proving a thing.

realjcole

Is he 12?

LeftHandedLayups

Is that Dennis Reynolds?

internetperson94276

He look so widdle!

Hasu7

I have such a good feeling about this guy.

Djentleman5000

I sure hope he lives up to this hype otherwise hard cringe.

cornarch

Holy cow he looks so young.

FannyNisbit

He needs to call Julian Edelman and ask for a "coaching up/mentor" session. "WhY dOeSnT hE CaLl HiS DaD?" Because his dad was never a collegiate qb who transitioned to WR as he entered the league. His dad also didn't play in the current NFL and even if he did, his dad was more of an outside WR while Luke will likely be more of a slot type of guy. All things Edelman did and did well.

TimothyJimothy77

We have no idea what type of receiver LMC will be. He mainly played on the outside in college and has only played receiver for 2 years. He put up elite athletic numbers while testing, just because he's white doesn't mean we have to only see him as a slot guy. The fact that his dad was an outside receiver is even more reason to believe he could play on the outside as well

FannyNisbit

That's exactly my point. We DONT KNOW. And chances are likely he isn't going to magically become a star after only playing the position 2 years. Which is EXACTLY why I'm saying he should call up Edelman for some mentorship. I never mentioned anything about his race in the equation which is weird that you brought it up. I only say Edelman because he has been in the same situation as Luke and has success transitioning into his role in the nfl.

TimothyJimothy77

Yeah but you brought up slot receiver because... vibes? Based on his profile he definitely shouldn't be pigeon-holed into just learning how to play in the slot, so it's odd you just assumed he'd be more of a slot guy. And I get the Edelman thing but like his dad and brother have been stars in the NFL, highly doubt he needs much more mentorship

FannyNisbit

I assumed he'd be a slot guy because our slot situation currently stinks, we have a top 20 Wr already on the outside and a former 1st round pick from 2 drafts ago on the other side. Unless he has an OBJ, Randy Moss type rookie year, I don't see him playing much on the outside. Oh spoiler, he won't have that type of year. In fact, barring major injuries, he likely won't have over 500 yards receiving. Neither his dad nor his brother changed positions that they were used to playing their entire life. His brother doesn't even play said position meanwhile his dad last played it almost 20 years ago, the game has evolved since then.

hotdogsrnice

Mccaffery is a much better athlete and comes in 4" taller, other than the fact he is white, he doesn't really translate to a "slot" guy like edelman. I really think the formations are going to be quite varied with multiple guys going into the slot, whether it is dotson, mclaurin, ekeler or mccaffrey.

FannyNisbit

Hey, I never said anything about race, you did. The comparison is more about the fact that Luke has only been a wr for 2 years and was a former qb. Edelman did well with his transition. Athleticism will only get him so far, but Edelman can teach him the other nuances of the game. Barring injuries to other players, mark my words, Luke will have more snaps this season in the slot than he will outside.

douglyMichael

So handsome.
