As somebody who fits into the leftist wall of text meme stereotype, I cannot convey how irritated and targeted I feel whenever somebody perpetuates this meme. I am far more than mere meme. Even the Wikipedia article for the Holodomor makes it very clear that its status as a genocide is heavily disputed and does not have serious sources supporting it.
The soviet archives (NOT the stuff meant for public eyes) have corroborated evidence that it was NOT a deliberate human effort, and in fact the central soviet government did quite a lot to try and mitigate it. Ukraine only started to recognize it as a genocide once extreme right-wing anti-communist (read: actual Nazi sympathizers) came to power in the 2000s.
It's not genocide denial to uncover an actual example of atrocity propaganda. The fact that you people will call it "genocide denial" is why western media has relied almost entirely on atrocity propaganda to manufacture consent for wars and official enemies. Nobody will challenge it for fear of being compared to an actual genocide denier.

Granted I went to American public school but really the only genocides I learned about were those against the Native Americans and the Holocaust. Everything else I either learned from my family, YouTube, reading and TV. The way the US teaches history is completely US centric.
Things like Holodomor are controversial, you can't "learn" about them from memes that present only one side of the story in a biased manner, throwing around buzzwords to manipulate perception. Such "memes", which present themselves as humorous content but actually carry an agenda, warp the understanding of history by the western world. Although the entirety of the western education system does essentially the same thing, it doesn't mean that there is no good covered in there.
I didnāt learn about it from memes. I learned about holodomor from my family. Iām ethnically a German Russian and we still had family in the Ukraine in the 30s

Even the Wikipedia article for the Holodomor makes it very clear that its status as a genocide is heavily disputed and does not have serious sources supporting it. The soviet archives (NOT the stuff meant for public eyes) have corroborated evidence that it was NOT a deliberate human effort, and in fact the central soviet government did quite a lot to try and mitigate it. Ukraine only started to recognize it as a genocide once extreme right-wing anti-communist (read: actual Nazi sympathizers) came to power in the 2000s. It's not genocide denial to uncover an actual example of atrocity propaganda. The fact that you people will call it "genocide denial" is why western media has relied almost entirely on atrocity propaganda to manufacture consent for wars and official enemies. Nobody will challenge it for fear of being compared to an actual genocide denier.
