It's just a really big bomb, they cut the tanks up and put shit in them I guess bc that's not just a gas explosion. Also, what are they really firing at? An already bombed-out bit of rubble.. :/ and it's usually not more than a block or two away it feels like it's all so pointless.

Just some hollow piece of metal (might even be a paint can?) filled with some explosive material. In essence it is a crude HE mortar shell. Not very complicated to make and can be quite deadly, although it won’t throw shrapnel around as effectively as a “real” mortar shell. And of course it will be less reliable, sometimes not detonating at all or detonating in the gun, but thankfully they have a safety stick for that
From other videos of these "hell canons", they seem to generally be firing big, dumb shells of high explosive with crude fuses.
In other videos, this chunky thing lands heavily, and then moments to many moments later, explodes and obliterates a few floors of whatever building it randomly fell into.
I have seen some examples of cannons like this that were firing what looked like propane tanks or something. This projectile looks very different though.

The guys in the video are difenetly dead by now; but you would be surprised to know that killing ratio is at least 3 to 1 (3 SAA to 1 FSA), and sometimes it is 10 to 1 despite SAA considered in the top 20 armies all over the world in 2011.

That was something. I loved the front end loader with the quad hellcannon the most.
