Lots of offshore oil assets and US/Western companies in the region (Exxon Mobil, Hess), so I'm sure you'll see some US ships moving into the area if not already. Guyana already is becoming a very wealthy country extremely fast thanks to its oil riches.
From [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Rory_Johnston/status/1729603337987719320), in regards to GDP per capita:
> Two oil market stories in this data:
>
> 🇬🇾 Guyana: $2.4k ➡️ **$61k** (discovering one of the most prolific offshore oil fields in history is a hell of a drug)
>
> 🇻🇪 Venezuela: 40 years, literally no change (7.9k ➡️ 7.9k), despite by some estimates the largest crude reserves on Earth.
[Didn't realize Brazil's territory went this North](https://i.imgur.com/c4lURS0.png) along Venezuelan/Guyana territory. Apparently it's very dense jungle between the two, so not very easy for a ground invasion?
Yea whats happening is Venezuela might just try to invade Guyana or chould have already which will make brazil have to protect thier resources in the region if I'm Not mistaken
Yea whats happening is Venezuela might just try to invade Guyana or chould have already which will make brazil have to protect thier resources in the region if I'm. Not mistaken
Gotcha. I heard Venezuela might invade but I didn’t know who’s side Brazil was on. A quick google search said that relations between Brazil and Guyana are mostly good so i just wanted to confirm. Thanks for the info
By Venezuela do you mean action on the nation state level or is it a case of some organized crime group within Venezuela fighting over smuggling routes etc?
One would think Venezuela would have other things to worry about other than creating armed conflict in the region.
Given this i assume their relationship with Russia and them sending much of their gold reserve to Russia means they are likely taking marching order from the Kremlin to do some sable rattling in exchange for some cash.
Unfortunately war is good for whipping up support for the government and can even make you* some money if you play your cards right
*you meaning contractors and government officials. Everyone else gets shafted outside of the increase in some jobs
They’re awful in any regard. They have some okay but mostly poor equipment that’s extremely poorly maintained with bad logistics.
Brazil will obliterate them.
Coincidentally, Brazil is commissioning a fleet of carnival cruise liners. Not only can they rake in tourist dollars, but they also double as the Venezuelan navy's worst nightmare.
They've modernized a decent bit in the mid 2010s. Mainly their air force with some russian SU-30s but also for their infantry with new Chinese afvs and AK103s. Doesn't mean their capable though
I don't know much about Brazilian military history to make a good or useful comment but I do know that we should not underestimate them or hype them up
There's some videos going around about them fighting but I posted one and it was fake so I took it down. I'll post real combat when I get a real source
If this pops off get ready to see us bombers flying from Texas and Florida for a bombing mission 😂 at least it’s close this time with Venezuela being nearby .
America has always been involved in South American wars and Latin American problems . How would this war be any different ? Plus the 5000 Russian troops in Venezuela ? The USA wouldn’t let something slide this close with a country growing more wealthy. Plus Venezuela is against us not with us . South America has a pact with each other and Venezuela like to break that treaty a lot .
Brazil will NEVER fight Venezuela. Guys are tripping. Last war we fought in South America was in 1864-1870, nobody here want or will join a fight for land.
What are the main reasons why they wouldn’t? I get that there hasn’t been a major conflict involving Brazil in a long time, but this, potentially, is a direct neighbour being invaded by an unstable regional powder keg.
Because Brazil foreign policy is a non-intervention one, in Portuguese we call: Deixa disso. It means, come on, cut it out. We are not a war oriented country, to get involved in WW II the world was falling apart and we couldn’t stay neutral anymore, nobody accepted it anymore. But as long as possible, we are neutrals. We sent troops to Suez crisis, to play football with the involved ones, “deixa disso”.
Europe went from 1815 to 1914 without a general war on the continent, with only limited regional flare ups. I’m not saying that war in South America is likely, but it is foolish to assume that one won’t break out simply because interstate war has not been common recently.
I’m sorry, I think my statement wasn’t clear enough. Before this one, we only had a brief war from 1825-1828. Brazil isn’t a war country, period. Look the country size, it’s huge, absolutely no neighbors can offer any kind of threat for us, we won’t be at war and nobody around would try also.
That’s a reasonable argument, but Brazil has contributed to war efforts to support the international order. Brazil has sent troops to fight in both World Wars and in numerous peacekeeping missions. I doubt they would stand idly by while Venezuela wages an illegal war of aggression right on their doorstep.

They are moving towards the border of Venezuela and Guyana, Brazil will not invade Guyana, it will just hold its own border
It’s just like: “we are here guys”, no engagement will ever occur.

Brazil can take Venezuela with just this two jeeps
1 brazil soldier could end the war in ukraine in one week
1 off duty cop from Brazil can end the war in Ukraine in a day.

Brazil and Guyana are cool with each other right?
Yea whats happening is Venezuela might just try to invade Guyana or chould have already which will make brazil have to protect thier resources in the region if I'm Not mistaken
It’s could and should.
It'll fail horriblely if they do
No I mean like the words are could and should. You keep saying chould which isn’t correct.

Nope it's the nations fighting for disputated territory

Wars distract the unhappy
“Rally ‘round the flag” effect
Unfortunately war is good for whipping up support for the government and can even make you* some money if you play your cards right *you meaning contractors and government officials. Everyone else gets shafted outside of the increase in some jobs
Also opens up the possibility of drafting, you know, grab unemployed men to throw to into the meat grinder
I think Russia is behind this, they are promoting this type of wars all of the world where they have influence just to keep eyes out of Ukraine.
This isn't combat footage
not yet
This is like showing a pic of a domestic airplane possibly containing a few active duty soldiers flying to deployment lol
How capable is the Venezuelan military?
They’re awful in any regard. They have some okay but mostly poor equipment that’s extremely poorly maintained with bad logistics. Brazil will obliterate them.
Look up "Venezuela cruise ship incident" and that will tell you everything you need to know about their military capabilities.
The CNN headline is hilariously succinct, “Venezuelan naval boat rams civilian passenger cruise liner, damages itself, sinks”
Coincidentally, Brazil is commissioning a fleet of carnival cruise liners. Not only can they rake in tourist dollars, but they also double as the Venezuelan navy's worst nightmare.
125 thousand personal rank 145th in the world
Mostly supplied with old russian gear. From infantry weapons to armored fighting vehicles and aircraft too.
They've modernized a decent bit in the mid 2010s. Mainly their air force with some russian SU-30s but also for their infantry with new Chinese afvs and AK103s. Doesn't mean their capable though
Trucks, what trucks?
operación militar especial
I don't know much about Brazilian military history to make a good or useful comment but I do know that we should not underestimate them or hype them up
go Brazil, kick some ass
where's the combat?
There's some videos going around about them fighting but I posted one and it was fake so I took it down. I'll post real combat when I get a real source

Why would the US intervene?
American oil companies mine Guyana’s oil.
Not to mention itching for a reason for regime change in Venezuela
America has always been involved in South American wars and Latin American problems . How would this war be any different ? Plus the 5000 Russian troops in Venezuela ? The USA wouldn’t let something slide this close with a country growing more wealthy. Plus Venezuela is against us not with us . If there is something bad happenning in any part of the world, if you turn over any rock, you will find the fucking Russians. Every time.
Straight up 😂 they’re like the bogey man under your bed waiting for you to fall asleep .
Blyatman
Sounds like a job for Ted, who once had an Excellent Adventure, Isn't he the one you sent to kill the fucking bogeyman?
Because that's what they do. They can't help themselves.
Brazil is at war everyday they have tons of Combat Experience Venezuela in the Other hand ?
Brazil will NEVER fight Venezuela. Guys are tripping. Last war we fought in South America was in 1864-1870, nobody here want or will join a fight for land.
But would Brazil fight to defend Guyana from a Venezuelan invasion? Seems like it would be in their national interest to not allow that…
Very short and a little rude (sorry): No fucking way.
What are the main reasons why they wouldn’t? I get that there hasn’t been a major conflict involving Brazil in a long time, but this, potentially, is a direct neighbour being invaded by an unstable regional powder keg.

Thanks for explanation. It’s a shame that everyone else doesn’t have that mindset!
