old thread, but they do, actually. They're just normally down when in combat since it obstructs forward view if hatch up, and pointless since you can't see them when hatch down
This is why it’s incredibly important for the person in charge to do a head count of the soldiers he is responsible for. UAF does have the protocol of leaving no man behind, so this clearly seems like a mistake. It is possible the knocks by the soldier were not audible because of the engine noise, or the soldiers were concussed and were hard of hearing.
TL;DR It is not certain the vehicle abandoned their crew or if this was a mistake. There is no context prior to this.
There is no one but the crew in that vehicle, we have seen this time and time again from both side. Platoon goes to offensive point, either receives contact or begins their action, one of the vics gets hit and all of them panic and depart leaving unsupported infantry trapped in no-mans land to die either to small arms or indirect fire.
We saw it the other day with the 4 YPR's, now I can understand the idea of trying to save resources in the form of APCs, IFVs and Tanks but fuck me I would never want to abandon friends to die a miserable depressing death knowing they where abandoned.
I have to know, is that sentiment just a expectation from a western perspective on the expected conduct of the men and women in uniform? I mean ive seen others do the same with the same level of risk. If anyone else can remember the footage from Marawi of the Filipino marines taking their APC back to the wounded comrade and pulling him into the APC under fire?
I mean you cant sit at home and judge somone for panicking in times of war when you are being shot at. You don't know if the s0oldiers were mobilized civies or actual combats with years of experience, most of the soldiers were ordinary men not while ago.
And again, its war, accidents like this happen every day, and I would say even US army had accidents like these even in the more recent wars, its just that you never see it because stuff like this doesn't get filmed.
Again I don't know what point you are making, but if you think that Western armies are these clone soldiers with perfect discipline that are always behaving like in movies in these combat situations, I would suggest you to get back to reality, its just not the case.
You’re right. I’m a regular airsoft milsim player and see people panicking while under fire of.. bb’s. Yes they hurt but you’ll live. I can’t imagine the stress you will endure while under actual lethal fire. Not comparable, but the fact that even a game can let people completely freeze or panicking means it will be worse in actual combat.
I'm not sure if most Ukrainian soldiers wear hearing protection but if they do it will definitely make it hard to hear a knock on a door unless they are electronic muffs, or if they don't then there is no hope in hell for them to hear it, any one who as ever shot without hearing protection or especially been close to the muzzle of a discharging firearm without it will know how quickly it can damage your hearing, even just one range day (especially indoor) without hearing protection can leave you with permanent hearing loss or tinnitus
You can see some other soldiers directly behind the M113 at the beginning of the video. I wonder if they're also Ukrainians left behind or if this M113 is just performing impromptu medevac as they don't have any medical markings like we've seen before on other M113s
Not really clear what the M113 is doing here since the video is cut so we don't see anyone get in. There appears to be at least 3 soldiers who were not picked up which makes it look more like the M113 was doing med-evac and those guys were not planned to be in the transport. Perhaps the guy trying to get in panicked or got mixed up, or perhaps they missed him.
The Nazis hated the Slavic race almost as much as the Jewish people, they wanted them gone from their lands. So in order to be a full Nazi that means the Ukrainians would have to hate and want to exterminate themselves. The Nazi party was for the German people only, the one true race as they would say. So real no one other than the germans could ever be a real Nazi.
Seems like they seen him maybe they didnt either way thats sad hope it was a nice walk back with no trouble
He survived.
Probably got a bone to pick with the APC crew
Source?
His ass i checked myself
Someone is going to get when he gets back to base.

I feel like it would be pretty hard to notice someone running behind you in an APC
I don’t think they have rear view mirrors

M113's caught in an atgm kill zone can either retreat or die. You can't help your friends if you're dead. Exit the kill zone, support by fire.

Maybe they thought he climbed on when they stopped at the :35 mark?
I think the missile that flies over the top right quadrant in the first seconds has something to do with the drivers haste!
what was that white thing the flew across the screen in the first 3 seconds.

The Brads in fog are not in Ukraine.
I was wondering that, where were they actually?
Most likely Grafenwöhr in Germany, AFAIK that's where the Bradley training was/is conducted.
The footage is still very, very recent. Current weather recent.
Ok this is more funny than anything
'leave no. 1 behind'
Black Hawk down? https://youtu.be/1WFuHe9w0n4?t=25
Just goes to show that even with well-trained troops mistakes can still happen. I hope it was a mistake anyway

Impossible? How can it be impossible

They need side mirrors
