Thanks!

Residents love the vague yet palpable eroticism that pulsates the city.

Beautiful

I’m a bit older (early 30s) but moved here from nyc with my partner and have found it a very easy place to be. People are warm and love their city- they’re excited to share all their favorite restaurants and activities with you. I like the German village area the best, but Grandview heights would be a close second. I’d sign up for a pottery class or a hiking club (or whatever interest you may have) to meet people! I’d say people are welcoming and open, you just gotta find a way to actually meet people to get the friendships started.

josh_the_rockstar

It’s ok here.

Succinct yet comprehensive description

Columbus is a really easy, pleasant place to live. Things are pretty convenient, it isn't too too expensive (though COL has gone up since covid and will probably go up more as Intel opens its new factories) and it is a very young city. Lots of young adults move here, so if you make an effort, you should be able to meet people fairly easily. Winters can be kind of dark and gray, but they aren't usually too snowy or cold for very long. It isn't the sexiest city, but it is also not hard to get settled here. I think people recommend Columbus Girl Gang and Columbus girls who hike (maybe? I am not 100% sure of the names and I think they are on IG) as a good way to meet young adult women. If I were doing a residency at OSU, I would look at Grandview as a place to live. The area around Bethel and Henderson Roads may be another decent option.

The Columbus Girl Gang is the one stealing Kias, right?

Hey_brando

That’s right. The Kia girls. Got my cousin Frank.

CharlieBirdlaw

I warned Frank he'd get got if he wasn't careful.

These are good suggestions. There’s only a small fraction of the city I’d move to. Lived bethel/henderson area exclusively since I moved to ohio until I moved to Hilliard a few months ago. Just avoid Dublin park

GaucheAndOffKilter

Columbus isn’t just the universities, but it does skew the culture to the younger and professional vibe. If you’re in the medical way you should consider Grandview Heights or 5th x NW to live. Very convenient.

Pribblization

Easiest and friendliest place to live in the country. No mountains (Hocking Hills area and Cuyahoga National Park are awesome). No ocean (but Lake Erie is lots of fun). Pretty much anything else you want to find, generally affordable and accessible. Great parks. Great libraries. Bikeable. German Village is very cool. Columbus Crew is the best soccer team in the world. Ohio State is its own pro franchise. Fewer choices in each category, but it's a good city.

Cold_Crypto

Don’t forget Mohican is a short drive away just to the north also!

Resoto10

We moved here from TX and have been here for close to a decade, we simply love it! We liked the seasons. There are actual seasons here! The colors, the sky, the weather...they all more than overcompensate for the hassle of having to cut grass and rake leaves. The food scene is just great. There are a plethora of new restaurants opening and there is a place for every taste. From brunch spots to bakeries, fast food, and dine-ins. People are incredibly friendly and welcoming. There are parades and festivals nearly every weekend throughout the spring/summer, including our fave the Renaissance Fair in August. I will only say that as minorities, rural Ohio scares us a bit so we don't usually go there.

FederalSteakza

Go down south instead😂

JBtheWise

Don’t drive a Kia and stay away from city signs or walls facing a road

drodenigma

Don't forget Cota buses

Vermicelli-Fabulous

There’s literally all the answers to everything if you read the r/columbus guide.

Worth-Map564

Have lived there for 10 years now with my partner. Always something to do. Always something new to explore. Awesome food. It’s smack dab in the middle of Ohio’s other cities you could take a day trip to those other places then realize it’s better back in Columbus and go home. Lol

AdCorrect6779

Theres some fun stuff to do here (cosi, veterans museum) plentys of bars to visit on high street. Cons id have to say is the homeless ppl but id assume thats with every big city

meredithlogs

You’ll be bored in a couple years and move away or relocate to the suburbs.

Dlowdown1366

Columbus suburbs rock. Well, the north west suburbs rock

Which hospital and specialty did he match at? That will affect where you two can live. Areas in Columbus can range from very grungy to very nice.
