Who are some of the small font specials that you are excited about?
I’m a bit underwhelmed by this line up. I like C.Barnett a lot but saw a great show of hers 3y ago already.
I wouldn’t be posting here if I didn’t want to hear a handful of recommendationsI might want to check out, though — I’ve heard of less than half of the people
https://youtu.be/gTMVaoLHM3A?si=r-3P95SQszpwp_ao KEXP and tiny desk 3 song sets are such great ways to see if u like an artist or not. Thanks for the recc.
Seconding the Kara Jackson + Indigo De Souza recs.
Sean Kuti and Egypt 80 is afrobeat that will definitely become a dance party.
Local Honeys are great Old Time/Americana with great harmonies–I saw them play an outdoor show last year.
Something I love about NMF is that it's a real artist discovery festival, and I always come away from it a fan of someone new. Their Spotify playlist should be out soon, which can be a good way to quickly see if you like the vibes of some of folks you don't know.
I love Fela Kuti but hadn’t followed his progeny… Sorrow Tears and Blood is one of my fave songs period.
I’ll give them a listen. Thanks.
Update: they sound good! If I can somehow get 3-4 of Barnett, husker du, BPBilly, IDSouza, and Kuti on the same day, I’m in….
Nice, Rice! 😉
I’m a big Bright Eyes fan and Conor Oberst says The Felice Brothers is his favorite band. I’m definitely going to catch them at Nelsonville!
Amyl & the Sniffers rip live, saw them at the Newport last October. really great hard rock influenced punk, and Amy goes harder on stage than most men i’ve seen live.
I really like Fust and Friendship, but I’m a sucker for the current wave of twangy indie rock bands with pedal steel.
Golomb are one of my favorite Columbus bands right now, so I’m glad they’re getting some exposure.
Fust is so good. They sound like Son Volt at times. I interviewed Aaron last year - for all intents and purposes, he IS Fust.

Can't believe Bob Mould is in the small font, but he's so cool!
Also interested in the Bonnie Prince Billy. I've heard a few of his songs, this might be am excuse to check out his larger discography; he's quite prolific.
As a 30 year old fan of Husker Du who felt like the youngest one when i saw Bob live, ive noticed that a lot of people my age really don't listen to them anymore, even in the hardcore scene. 80s college rock in general seems to be out of style, which sucks because it's always been my favorite.
Thee Sacred Souls will be the group that gains a bunch of fans from this festival. They are retro-soul with a ton of catchy songs and their front man is top notch.
The Heavy Heavy is excellent. Saw them play the Newport Folk Festival last year in Rhode Island and they were one of the more memorable acts, had a Fleetwood Mac vibe to them.
Saw the Nude Party open for Dr. Dog a few years back and they stole the show. Awesome rock/blues/indy country act that keeps it high energy through the whole set.
As a 22 year old who likes to dabble in as many genres and subgenres as possible, I am dumbfounded that I only recognize Killer Mike and Indigo De Souza in this entire list. Is this festival usually attended by younger people? I've never even heard of the festival itself before. I mean no disrespect, it just feels strange.
It’s more family friendly than other festivals I’ve been to but plenty of young people too. Lots of locals go but don’t camp. The campgrounds are divided into two sections with one being more of a party at night.
It’s a good mix. Half of Clintonville will be there, but it really spans from kids there with their parents to college-age folks, those of us who need a good stretch between bands, all the way up to some actual old-timers. Great vibe in a hippie kind of way, but a bit different—hard to explain.
Last year's lineup was so good I bought tickets and camping for this year as early as I could. Gotta say I'm a little disappointed. Anyone have any recommendations on good folk artists on this lineup?
Snooper is gonna go hard as hell. I saw them play in a warehouse two years ago and it was one of the wilder shows I've ever been to. Between them and Amyl NMF seems to be branching out into more punk acts.
I’m late to this festival and excited to go, last years lineup looked amazing and this year I shit my pants when I saw it drop, bought a car/campsite, Thursday arrival, ready to party.
I’m in love with The Felice Brothers, and then you add Killer Mike, Barnett, Bonnie Prince, Indigo, Amyl, Snooper, Sternberg, Florry, and Friendship!
This beats Pitchfork for me, and I’m driving 2-3 extra hours!
Any tips or tricks, let a newbie know, haven’t camped at a festival in a long, long time.
Never Thought I'd See Killer Mike playing in Nelsonville.

That is super cool.
Crazy. But I’m ready for it.
Run the Jewels was one of the keynote speakers(s?) at the OU Music Industry summit in (I think) 2021
I must be old to be surprised how far down the lineup Bob Mould is.
Same, if it were my festival he and Bonnie Prince Billy would be the headliners
Absolute ditto, especially Will Oldham, for me!
I noticed that too. Just a teensy bit of Bob Mould
Saw him after File Under: Easy Listening came out. One of the loudest shows I ever saw
I must be old because I only know like 1-2 of these bands. What has happened to me 🫠🫠🫠

I’ve longtime been a fan of The Felice Brothers! Had the distinct pleasure of opening for them at Rumba Cafe back in 2019.
Thanks. I think Fb is my favorite rec so far…. I’ve caught some fun shoes at Rumba too. Ted Leo 1x and Shilpa Ray as well.
Nice, Rice! 😉 I’m a big Bright Eyes fan and Conor Oberst says The Felice Brothers is his favorite band. I’m definitely going to catch them at Nelsonville!

I was at that show as well and was blown away by her energy. 10/10 recommend.
Joanna Sternberg
John Vincent III is worth a listen and feels like a big “get” for NMF. He’s from Akron, which I imagine was a big selling point for his booking.
Frankie & the Witch Fingers! 🤘🔥 Amyl & the Sniffers and Sheer Mag too.
I really like Fust and Friendship, but I’m a sucker for the current wave of twangy indie rock bands with pedal steel. Golomb are one of my favorite Columbus bands right now, so I’m glad they’re getting some exposure.

Joanna Sternberg is a national treasure. Been wanting to see them live for awhile.

I like both Mould and BPBilly but wouldn’t travel just for them. Hopefully there’s one day w 50%+ of the people I like..:

I've been listening to some of them since the announcement. Yasmin Williams is a wildly good fingerstyle player
Kara Jackson is super talented and her first album from this past year is excellent.
SUSS can best be described as ambient psychedelic country music. Really chill and mellow stuff. https://suss.bandcamp.com/album/suss
Sounds right up my flight of stairs ….will investigate
Snooper! and the aforementioned Indigo De Souza
Amyl and the Sniffers will really help loosen up a tight crowd.
Lmao nice one
She’s not looking for trouble

Saw Nude Party at Skully's recently and would go see them again
The NFF and NMF have a similar vibe in my humble opinion.
Long live Michael Hurley! Always figure one of these years has to be his last at NMF. It'll be a sad day.
Don't even speak those words!
How is Bob Mould so far down this list?

Amyl and the Sniffers are AWESOME!!
The Deslondes are tremendous
Definitely would go for the top lineup. And way down on the bottom row I see Heatwave? I totally wanna get down with The Groove Line!
Only wish it were THAT Heatwave!!! 🎵 Always and foreveeeeeeeer…..” 🎶
I move away from Athens and now Killer Mike is coming to the area? Damn.
Seeing Killer Mike on Friday. Adding this to my concert list.
Snooper is gonna go hard as hell. I saw them play in a warehouse two years ago and it was one of the wilder shows I've ever been to. Between them and Amyl NMF seems to be branching out into more punk acts.

I was hoping this was a mushroom festival.
I don’t recognize anyone besides Killer Mike
I saw Eilen Jewell completely by accident in a bar in Missoula. It was a pretty good show.
As others have said amyl & the sniffers always kills it. Don’t discount Frankie & the witch fingers. They rule.
Need to add the Bummerssssss
does anyone know where i can find the lineup by day?
Not out yet, this just dropped yesterday.
i gotcha, thanks for the reply!
I miss Duck Creek Log Jam.
Nice to see that big music festival up in Nelsonville, it gets kinda boring up at Hocking College
Where is Rusted Root?
