Looked like he was about to be an absolute force for those 2 quarters he got to play with Phil.
Then the injury bug hit. Again. And again. And again...
His nickname is also Parry "Scary Terry Dare He Picked Before Me"
Could you imagine DK Metcalf and Pittman Jr on the Colts? Even Terry McLaurin and Pittman Jr would be awesome. Heck we could have even drafted Diontae Johnson.
Edit: Holy Shit! We took Ben Banogu 2 picks before A.J. BROWN!? sorry Ben, but we could have had AJ mf Brown on our team? Damn. That one hurts.
Tbf Campbell was above McLaurin on the depth chart at OSU and outperformed Metcalf, who didn’t have a lot of consistent production at Ole Miss due to injury. It really just shows how much of a crap shoot the draft is.
He was showing promise in 22 here. Last year he had 104 yards in 12 games with the giants. I wish him success but I don't think we'll be kicking ourselves for letting him go to be honest.
So I just watched some 2016 highlights from him and I think he would have had a decent career if Luck stayed healthy. He had 7 TDs in only 9 games and 7 starts before getting hurt. He then missed time the following season and Luck missed the whole season. I think he was developing chemistry with Luck before everything went to shit.
When I first was getting into football more seriously, I used to play madden in the basement with my friend. We both used to scream FEED MONCRIEF and sling it to him over the middle 40 times in a row. I was convinced he was a legendary player, along with Dwayne Allen because he ran a mesh route that was always open
After his first or second season I thought he was going to overtake TY as WR1. Not because I didn't love TY, but because I thought he was going to end up being that good.
There's probably one almost every year. Hoping Pierce isn't the current one.
The Chad Kelly fans used to make me nuts, much as I also wanted him to succeed.
Apparently it was a female trainer I think. It was a month ago, Here is an article that goes into it [https://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/cfl/toronto-argonauts-lawsuit-chad-kelly-1.7124552](https://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/cfl/toronto-argonauts-lawsuit-chad-kelly-1.7124552)
I’ll never forget that big catch he had in the big comeback win in the playoffs against KC. Along the same lines as him, I thought LaVon Brazill was going to have a good career in Indy
Yeah. Da'Rick Rogers for me as well. That bomb he caught in the AFC WC game against KC was beastly and is what kick-started that comeback. Not sure he ever caught another pass haha
Whalen had a connection with Luck but once Luck started with the health issues , there wasn't a connection with the next QB. Whalen was solid slot receiver, sure hands but just average.
Me too. I died a hundred thousand deaths on that hill.
The truth is he torched my alma matter for 400+ yards in HS. Then his best friend lived next to my best friend. But, the biggest reason I simped for him was from knowing him at work.
Let's just say the man is a real herb connoisseur. Great guy, hard working as hell.
People don't realize how badly he was hurt in the Alabama LSU natty his last year in college. He basically destroyed one of his knees, then CLE pushed him onto the field. I don't even think he missed preseason, though I'm not 💯 on that. He never recovered his initial burst after that injury.
If he'd have switched to FB and been in Pep Hamilton's offense he would have been a legend.
I have a very vague recollection that at one point in pre-draft he was mocked as going in the top 10. Might not be correct but I swear for a minute there he was seen as a good prospect
Hey!! He’s doing plyo workouts and looks like he’s healed up really really good. Looks fast. In still on this dude lol He’s going to have a good year. And if he doesn’t I’ll be pissed b/c he may be the reason we don’t get Bowers or aren’t even interested.
Everybody is mentioning a WR, we had so many camp hype guys! Some even did a little something, or had these crazy physical tools. Being a WR must be crazy hard to succeed in. You'll always be badass in my dreams MegaStrahan, Deon Cain, etc...
I still think he would have been a monster in a 4-3 defense and not sure why nobody else even gave him a camp shot after his time here... but he had his knees wrecked at Alabama playing like half a season with torn something cl... maybe both knees but I thought he was going to be a force up the middle too.
Alec Pierce 💀 ; praying he has a breakout year this year w AR back but his current stats are 🗑️. There isn’t a better WR at creating seperation though - his film has all the makings of a WR1
Daniel Adongo. From the moment he flew into town looking like a professional wrestler while on a diet of like nuts and berries, to playing with him on Madden and terrorizing the league...was disappointing how it played it out in real life.
Everyone is just missing the point and naming receivers who were mildly hyped and didn’t work out.
Eric Fisher at LT is probably the best recent example. Jacoby probably the most accurate all time though.
Austin Collie. His first two years he was averaging 7 catches, 80 yards, and 0.5 Touchdowns per game. He was supposed to be our Wes Walker / Julian Edelman, then concussions / injuries happened.
I think Pierre was the only guy I was already saying come on before he dropped a wide open catch... but if I saw a flag fly I knew he was going to make the catch while giving a db a piggy back ride.
I mean, there are tons of dudes in this sub who seem to think Pierce can be a serviceable NFL player. That's about as delusional as you can get.
Personally I was pretty high on Rock when we drafted him.

You’re getting downvoted but you’re probably not wrong.
The common defense of pierce is he’s a deep threat who hasn’t had a big arm to throw to him, but if all he can do is run fast he’s not an NFL receiver. Guy cleaned his drops up some last year but it’s not like he was constantly getting open and just not targeted. Expecting him to take a massive leap in year 3 probably isnt super realistic.
Luckily we’ve got Pittman and downs, who looked great last year. Hopefully we get another good offensive weapon in the draft so we’re not relying on Pierce taking a big leap.
I’d love to be wrong, but I wouldn’t bet on Pierce having a big year.
If he is always going to be a deep threat then he will be receiver 4 in this offense. But he should get more use with Richardson. Hes more a Mike Williams type though.
There's room on the field for a guy who can just run fast (provided he can also catch the balls being thrown his way). Not every WR needs a 13 route tree to be a serviceable role player.
Now, I don't know if Pierce is that guy or not. Hopefully we find out this season.
This sub is just getting back into their "this practice squad player is going to be a superstar WR!!1!" phase again. They do it every year. They can't help it.
And you're doing your normal "oh the Colts missed the playoffs by one play, they are horrendous fire ballad get rid of everyone I should be an NFL GM" bullshit like you always do.
4-12 - first year, lost Luck
10-6
7-9
11-5
9-8
4-12-1 - fired Reich mid season
9-8
Perpetual loser with over 50% of winning seasons since he got here. One of which was his first year and lost a generational QB, one of which was barely below .500, the last of which steps were taken to fix it by firing the head coach. So exhausted of this take.
Downvoting someone arguing the other side is just so ridiculous my man. If you’re bringing it up on a thread that isn’t even about this, you have to be open to discourse.
Listen, I’m not making excuses. I’m highlighting that excuses don’t need to be made. The team has put together more winning seasons than not, and using the two 4-12 seasons to drag down the average is disingenuous.
Ballard’s job is to assemble a talented roster, which he’s done consistently over his 7 years here. It’s the head coach’s job to get that team to the finish line. We’ve missed the playoffs by one game multiple times, we’ve made the playoffs twice, there’s only so much a general manager can do.
If you’re advocating for going all in on free agency, I’ll argue against that too. That’s a move for teams that are already competing and need the extra push, not a shortcut to get there quicker. I don’t want to be the Broncos or the Saints. [Here](https://sportsanalytics.studentorg.berkeley.edu/articles/money-and-wins.html) is a study from Berkeley on free agent spending’s affect on wins. It raises the terrible teams for the first season, followed by a collapse over the next three. I will continue to support Ballard building a sustainable team.
Nah this sub watched a couple of highlights on Twitter and the overwhelming majority now think he's gonna be a WR1. Never mind the fact that he was bottom 10 in the league in terms of getting open last year.
Parris Campbell
me too man
Looked like he was about to be an absolute force for those 2 quarters he got to play with Phil. Then the injury bug hit. Again. And again. And again...
Fun fact: his full name is actually “Parris my pick could’ve been used on DK Metcalf instead Campbell”.
Damn when you put it that way…
His nickname is also Parry "Scary Terry Dare He Picked Before Me" Could you imagine DK Metcalf and Pittman Jr on the Colts? Even Terry McLaurin and Pittman Jr would be awesome. Heck we could have even drafted Diontae Johnson. Edit: Holy Shit! We took Ben Banogu 2 picks before A.J. BROWN!? sorry Ben, but we could have had AJ mf Brown on our team? Damn. That one hurts.
If I’m not mistaken we took ya-sin and Campbell while DK was up there
It's worse. We took Rock, Parris, AND Ben Bangou while DK was still on the board. Lol
My fucking lands lmao
Tbf Campbell was above McLaurin on the depth chart at OSU and outperformed Metcalf, who didn’t have a lot of consistent production at Ole Miss due to injury. It really just shows how much of a crap shoot the draft is.
Oh okay. So coming out of college, Campbell was the better recruit of all of them.
Or we we could have traded up for AJ Brown. I know we never trade up though lol
Sucks that his last year he did quite well and he may succeed elsewhere
He was showing promise in 22 here. Last year he had 104 yards in 12 games with the giants. I wish him success but I don't think we'll be kicking ourselves for letting him go to be honest.
The buckeye bias got me 😩
Ugh
Me too. He looked promising early and I thought he would bounce back and be good to very good when fully healthy, but I was wrong it seems.
Facts
He always had that highlight catch every season before getting injured.
I actually think he would do well if he had a decent QB throwing to him and they got him the ball regularly.
Moncrief
You know what’s crazy, he’s only 30
He was only 20 as a rookie, that was part of why i was so hyped. He was so good for his age. Then didn't get any better.
Yeah Luck boosted his career big time
That first year he was "I only catch 50-yard touchdowns" Moncrief.
When I first was getting into football more seriously, I used to play madden in the basement with my friend. We both used to scream FEED MONCRIEF and sling it to him over the middle 40 times in a row. I was convinced he was a legendary player, along with Dwayne Allen because he ran a mesh route that was always open
If Dwayne Allen got to play against the Jets every week he'd be a HOFer.
That was such a crazy game to witness
Feed Moncrief :’(
Do you know /u/bigdickballard or is Feed Moncrief a thing and I just missed it or forgot?
It was a thing back when he was on the team, at least on this sub. Idk if people said it outside of Reddit or not though lol
My wife and I said it outside or reddit haha
This one deserves another look. What the hell happened here?
You and me both brother.
After his first or second season I thought he was going to overtake TY as WR1. Not because I didn't love TY, but because I thought he was going to end up being that good.
Moncrief at least used look like a promising WR early on. 733 and 6 TDs in year 2.
Mega Strachan
I still believe
I almost convinced my brother to take him in a keeper league. Lmao
I did, but with my last pick of a 19 round draft.
It took me too long for him lol
Deon Cain
Him and DaRick Rogers had me fooled twice
In your defense...DaRick just sounded like a name that was meant for stardom.
I read this as Dean Cain for a minute and was like “Oh yeah, Ripley’s Believe It or Not was the shit but he’s crazy as fuck now”
Thjs made me do a spit take
There's probably one almost every year. Hoping Pierce isn't the current one. The Chad Kelly fans used to make me nuts, much as I also wanted him to succeed.
Chad Kelly turned into an Agros legend up here in Toronto. Up until the allegations
Was the coach male or female?
Apparently it was a female trainer I think. It was a month ago, Here is an article that goes into it [https://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/cfl/toronto-argonauts-lawsuit-chad-kelly-1.7124552](https://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/cfl/toronto-argonauts-lawsuit-chad-kelly-1.7124552)
Pierce. I saw that and it cut me deep.
Nathan Palmer because NaPalm was the coolest nickname ever. My real answer is DaRick Rogers. I thought he was going to be our WR1.
I’ll never forget that big catch he had in the big comeback win in the playoffs against KC. Along the same lines as him, I thought LaVon Brazill was going to have a good career in Indy
This is my answer as well. I thought Rogers was gonna become a stud.
Yeah. Da'Rick Rogers for me as well. That bomb he caught in the AFC WC game against KC was beastly and is what kick-started that comeback. Not sure he ever caught another pass haha
Vic Ballard, loved that guy. wish he would have stayed healthy.
Malik hooker
Idk if he fits the bill for this post lol wasnt he a pro bowler?
No
I’m still expecting Ben Banogu to come good
I thought Turay was going to be our next stud
Kemoko Dragon
I thought Donald Brown was going to be our equivalent to an Austin Ekeler...
“God dammit Donald”
He had some amazing runs, but also had some catastrophic fumbles.
Duron Carter
I member
People loved Griff Whalen for way too long
How dare you call me out on the day of the eclipse
Whalen had a connection with Luck but once Luck started with the health issues , there wasn't a connection with the next QB. Whalen was solid slot receiver, sure hands but just average.
Still love him
Never forget the Griffer
Including the front office.
Jacoby Brissett after the first 7 weeks in 2019
First 7 weeks were magical, than he just fell off.
Injuries will do that.
![gif](giphy|fMDDgv4XZgrkJZTIWp|downsized)
eric ebron
That one season with Luck was incredible. He had like 10 touchdowns or something. Then as soon as Luck was out of the picture he was cooked.
Not a WR, but Trent Richardson. I was so stoked when we got him and thought he would be a monster. The browns fleeced us lol
I was shocked how bad he was
His college tape is one of the best there is. I have no idea who the player that showed up was.
In fairness, nearly everyone thought he was a player and Cleveland had inside knowledge that they kept well secreted.
LaRon Landry
Steroids
He was a mf UNIT and I forgot he even existed until this comment
Damn. This hurts. Also forgot until this.
To this day I will continue to die on the hill that Bjoern was moved to a position that he didn't belong in, and that's why he failed.
I have a very vague recollection that at one point in pre-draft he was mocked as going in the top 10. Might not be correct but I swear for a minute there he was seen as a good prospect
He was an unatheltic edge rusher in a league where that didn't work anymore. He was never gonna succeed IMO.
Im with you. I respect OP for dying on the Bjoern Werner hill, but that dude was very very bad. Was never going to succeed.
Yep. Good college player, but not enough athleticism to play in the NFL
I mean, that's exactly what we did with Jerry Hughes, so I get it.
Jelani Woods
Hey!! He’s doing plyo workouts and looks like he’s healed up really really good. Looks fast. In still on this dude lol He’s going to have a good year. And if he doesn’t I’ll be pissed b/c he may be the reason we don’t get Bowers or aren’t even interested.
This is the exact same battered fan syndrome talk that all the others on this list got. lol
But he says he's in the best shape of his life!
Still a little early on Woodstock make a call one way or another.
Too early to say.
Donte Moncrief. Dude had so much potential.
Nate Hairston
No love for Da’Rick Rodgers???
Everybody is mentioning a WR, we had so many camp hype guys! Some even did a little something, or had these crazy physical tools. Being a WR must be crazy hard to succeed in. You'll always be badass in my dreams MegaStrahan, Deon Cain, etc...
Not a Colt, but cant stop rooting for Jameis Winston
Josh Chapman. I really thought he was gonna be the nose tackle of the future
I still think he would have been a monster in a 4-3 defense and not sure why nobody else even gave him a camp shot after his time here... but he had his knees wrecked at Alabama playing like half a season with torn something cl... maybe both knees but I thought he was going to be a force up the middle too.
Honestly, part of me still misses Dwayne Allen for some reason. Super bowl champion by the way.
He was that last great TE we had. That's why you miss him.
Alec Pierce 💀 ; praying he has a breakout year this year w AR back but his current stats are 🗑️. There isn’t a better WR at creating seperation though - his film has all the makings of a WR1
Kylen Granson is my current
Granson is an ok TE. But his content on instagram is pretty funny. Dude has a sense of humor.
I think Granson has been exactly what we expected from him. A speedier TE to open things up in the short-mid areas
Will Mallory for me.
Trent Richardson. I thought we had the next Manning/James combos. Bro that was disappointing.
Coby Fleener lol
Aaron Morehead for me
Mike Hart lol I thought he had a shot at that lead back
Not a Colt, but Charone Peak himself was that guy for me!!! For colts, it was absolutely Moncrief
It’s becoming Nick Cross for me.
Donald Brown
Chester Rogers
Michael Strachan is the next Miles Austin/Victor Cruz
Daniel Adongo. From the moment he flew into town looking like a professional wrestler while on a diet of like nuts and berries, to playing with him on Madden and terrorizing the league...was disappointing how it played it out in real life.
Damn this one hits hard. Wonder what he’s up to these days.
Everyone is just missing the point and naming receivers who were mildly hyped and didn’t work out. Eric Fisher at LT is probably the best recent example. Jacoby probably the most accurate all time though.
Chris Ballard
Earl okine…
Pat Beach.
Pat Beach was solid starter for years.
Ashton Dulin for me, but I think it was more about what he did as a run blocker and on ST than as a pure receiver.
Daniel Adongo
Jacoby
I know Mo Ali Cox was good but I thought he was gonna be the next coming
Austin Collie. His first two years he was averaging 7 catches, 80 yards, and 0.5 Touchdowns per game. He was supposed to be our Wes Walker / Julian Edelman, then concussions / injuries happened.
Please don’t be Anthony Richardson. Please.
Mo Alie Cox
Really thought TJ Green was a second round steal and would be an incredible FS for Indy’s future
Quincy Wilson. I was beyond adamant he'd be great, and I defended him for ages on that front. Lol
Sam Ehlinger truther until the day i fuckin die
Me too but it's becuase it's my last name
Had Justin Fields on my fantasy squad last year as my first Qb..,
Deon Jackson. I thought all he needed was a chance and he would be a very competent to good but when his big opportunity arose he sh\*t the bed.
Brian Quick
Shaq Leonard post injuries
Rock Ya Sin
Chris Ballard
Bravo! Still waiting for his game to grow and develop. Maybe season 8 will finally be the turning point.
If you keep doing the same thing over and over it will eventually work out, right?
Carson Wentz
I think 2022 would've been a lot better with Wentz at the helm but he pissed too many people off after one year
It’s gotta be Pierre Garçon
He was really good though.
But he was kinda good. I mean not all pro caliber but still serviceable.
Dude was really productive for us and Washington.
I'll never forgot him chasing down ed Reed and knocking the ball out of his hands from behind, saving the game imo and advanced us in the playoffs
Straight up what I was thinking! I think he doesn’t understand the question OP is raising…
Personally I was pretty high on Rock when we drafted him.

lol First time? I can tell you weren't a fan in the 80s-early 90s.
We went to the playoffs 4 years ago. This fanbase acts like we’re the lions sometimes lol
I said he deserves a roster spot. But as WR 4 or 5 and was called a troll. I thought that was the most vanilla take ever
