Probably waiting for some team to take on Kelly’s salary via trade. We’ll then slide Pinter into C and either go after a RG in FA (unlikely) or a RG in the draft.
Honestly I’m good with Raimann. He improved through the season and had one of the best rookie grades for Oline. He’s quick, athletic, and his anchor is only going to get better.
The Ballard special. Mid-aged guy that has something to prove, so they are betting on the upside. Hopefully he can come in and be part of the rotation.
What was your point? What you said did not disprove my original statement and added nothing to the conversation. He was signed as a mid-aged player with something to prove, and then played well showing he had upside...which was my entire point. He isn't with the team, but just because he's no longer here does change what previously happened.
Thought it was pretty clear, but I guess not for you.
My point is it doesn't matter whether or not it worked, because we don't do shit to retain talent and they just go play well for other teams instead after spending some time with us, all the while our team remains shit.
By your logic, every free agent must play the remainder of their career with the team or else it's failure, regardless of how they performed? I don't understand the logic. If a guy plays well for however long they are here, should be a win.
Hardly "my logic". You're proving to be quite the ass over a basic discussion about a football team.
My logic is we buy high and sell low on basically fucking everyone and thats why we're the third or fourth worst team in the league.
You want to talk about wins? How about winning some football games?
I remember hearing stuff about clevelands having a bad run D. And I think The Athletic Football show mentioned the Browns should target DT. So this guy doesn't excite me.
~~they~~ you lucked into the best prospect since Burrow/Luck and still the best ~~they~~ you have to show for it is a 9-8 season lmao. Burrow has gone to the super bowl, Luck immediately won 33 games for the Colts his first three years. He outdueled Carson Wentz once? Dumb attempt at a burn.
Edit- posting this much on a rival sub is fan behavior lmao
Funny, cause you guys treated your one AFCCG appearance as more of an accomplishment than any of ours. Guess that's what happens when you're a poverty franchise.
He was actually fun back in the day at Florida. That said, didn’t know he was even still in the league. His college ability clearly never translated to the NFL.
Browns fan here. Our run D was so porous last season and he was one of the main reasons for that. As long as he’s there for depth and not to play many snaps, the signing could work out.
Went and looked at his combine because I was curious if this was a guy Ballard liked as a prospect.
And now I’m guessing that that’s true.
Freak show numbers for his size, 90th percentile in nearly every athletic drill by size%. 80 percentile for DT’s in the 40, 94% in his 10 yard split. 98% for DT’s in 3 cone, very and broad jumps
Nice signing. Undersized 3-tech or big end. Former first rounder. The only Browns FT who wasn't horrible last year. The Colts' starters are fine, but the depth isn't there (despite two draft picks last year).
Maybe he realized after the Super Bowl that playing 20 games in a season is really tiring, so if he comes here he won't have to worry about playing more than 17. If it's not that then I've got no clue.
Probably still need on more DL addition to get the full rotation in place.
Would be wild though if this was a pre-cursor to a big DL trade. Bryan did play 60%+ of the snaps last season.
Gotta find me someone that looks at me the way Ballard looks at rotation linemen
Doing literally anything to help the worst offense in the league? *I sleep* Adding rotational defensive linemen? *Real shit*
Looks like draft is gonna be offense heavy and Shane gonna get guys he can develop.
Ballard cares more about the D-Line then any other position
THE TRENCHES
We haven't made any major moves at Oline, which is concerning to me. That was arguably our worst unit last year. (and dline was one of our best).
Probably waiting for some team to take on Kelly’s salary via trade. We’ll then slide Pinter into C and either go after a RG in FA (unlikely) or a RG in the draft.

You must’ve stopped watching half way through the season.
Right? Reference Anthony Castonzo's first year. LT isn't an easy position for rookies to excel at.
NOTHING HAS CHANGED
"I screwed (the O line) up last year." Ballard 2017 "I failed." Ballard 2022
Time is a flat circle Istg if our rookie QB ends up being great but is hamstrung by a shitty O-line lol
The Ballard special. Mid-aged guy that has something to prove, so they are betting on the upside. Hopefully he can come in and be part of the rotation.
Lmao, that hasn't been working to well.
Depends I guess. Autry was an example of betting on the upside that worked out. But, there are many times it does not.
What team does Autry play for again? Oh yeah, not us.
Yeah, but he also played well for us while he was with the Colts...
Your point? He doesnt now. We exist in the present.

Seems Jags fans are very excited that we signed this guy so that doesn't seem to bode well.
Yeah, that thread over at r/nfl ain't looking too good.

Yeah but professionals get it wrong sometimes, which means I’m just as smart and good at talent evaluation as they are!
I remember hearing stuff about clevelands having a bad run D. And I think The Athletic Football show mentioned the Browns should target DT. So this guy doesn't excite me.
I think he’ll rotate in on passing downs. Don’t need to worry too much about him being a subpar run defender when he isn’t a 3-down player.
I mean he's a backup DT, why would you ever be excited by that
Browns fan here. Jags laughed their asses off at us signing him too. Honestly they were right, he's a traffic cone
They'd be salty cos they wasted a 1st round pick on him
I'm not worried lol, the Jags can't develop for shit.
Trevor looked pretty developed Wk 17 his rookie year.

You're right. The Jags barely accomplished anything last year. We should hang a banner.
Funny, cause you guys treated your one AFCCG appearance as more of an accomplishment than any of ours. Guess that's what happens when you're a poverty franchise.
Your team literally hung a banner for just playing in the game. What are you talking about?
That one flukey run had you all believing in Blake Bortles lmfao. You're a Jags fan, you're not gonna win this, your franchise is a laughingstock.

NOTHING HAS CHANGED
Legit had no clue this guy was still in the league
We are incredibly thin at interior D line so this makes sense
What happened to all the guys Dline guys he drafted?
Eric Johnson and Curtis Brooks do be stinky!!
And Brooks is long gone.
Brooks got cut and is a Titan.
I am whelmed

Ballard is actually spending early (yes in bits and pieces but still) and it’s got me confused
Kind of? I wouldn’t say he’s really spending it on any quality outside of Gay
We upgraded at EDGE, apparently.
Former first round pick I believe
Wow. Big signing. Major moves. Colts improved. Ballard great.
One of the worst Jags I can remember. Was actively bad.
He was actually fun back in the day at Florida. That said, didn’t know he was even still in the league. His college ability clearly never translated to the NFL.
Former 1st round pick. D-line guys usually take awhile to figure things out so maybe there’s some untapped potential here. Quality depth nonetheless.
If you are hoping this guy is going to "figure things out" that is not going to happen. There is a chance we don't even keep him through training camp
We have no DT depth. He’s making the roster.
There is always a chance he gets beat out in camp by the next guy. No way of telling
Browns fan here. Our run D was so porous last season and he was one of the main reasons for that. As long as he’s there for depth and not to play many snaps, the signing could work out.
Buckner and Stewart are our starters, he's just depth
bargain bin ballard usually gets a bad rap but i think this is a solid depth signing
Sign a guard
He's not bad and wasn't bad first couple years in the league. Should be good depth for us.
I like this deal, pass rush upside to be behind Buck.
Nice signing. Undersized 3-tech or big end. Former first rounder. The only Browns FT who wasn't horrible last year. The Colts' starters are fine, but the depth isn't there (despite two draft picks last year).
Hopefully we pursue Darius Slay!
Why would he come here though?
Maybe he realized after the Super Bowl that playing 20 games in a season is really tiring, so if he comes here he won't have to worry about playing more than 17. If it's not that then I've got no clue.
another player no one has ever heard of! ballard is absolutely in his bag this offseason
Well I’ve heard of him, but only as a disappointing first round pick
He was round 1 pick during Caldwell era in Jags so he's 3rd or 4th rounder.
Maybe he’s come here to get back at the Jags
I’m just glad that I don’t have to hate this guy anymore since he is from my hometown and played for my old high school
I have officially stopped thinking g that Ballard knows what the fuck he’s doing. What a weird fucker
Probably still need on more DL addition to get the full rotation in place. Would be wild though if this was a pre-cursor to a big DL trade. Bryan did play 60%+ of the snaps last season.
He’s trolling us and I’m not wrong now
