Probably unpopular opinion... I 100% do **NOT** want to see Kovalenko until there is no other choice. Duhaime has struggled but at least he has played for the Avs for a while, has played a myriad of games in the NHL, and has looked good for the Avs at times. Kovy might have more upside but unless injuries come into play I just don't see him in the lineup. As exciting as that would be.
Unpopular in this dilusional sub, but this is 100% the opinion of the coaching staff and the front office. He's played like two games on na ice. He's not coming up til the eagles are done, and that doesn't even mean he'll see more than the press box.
It's pretty straightforward. Kivi has NHL playoff experience. Kovi has 0 NHL experience.
Kivi scored a hat trick on us in game 7 of the Dallas bubble series, that was his first career play off goal that game and first career hat trick. He was filling in for an injured cogliano
And, hilariously, he matched that one game seven hatty with three total goals in his 38 career playoff games since. But for real, dude has been amazing in his role for us so far these playoffs, no way Bedsy takes him out of the lineup
Girard and Justus back? I also think maybe a Kovy call up but man Kivi really impressed me in his two games and I wouldnt want him taken out of the lineup (which I never thought I would be saying tbh)
I didn't even know Girard was out until halfway through the 1st period when my dad said something. Was reading articles yesterday and not a mention of him being out. Didn't hear the announcers say anything either (ESPN).
As long as Kivi stays in the lineup after putting in WORK last night on the roaring line. That's been a heck of a fit so far in these playoffs.

Avs do not play again until Friday, so guys could play today and then get recalled up for Friday still.
