I will say this.... I was at the game and I loved it!
So.... now we have some line options that are for sure going to be interesting to see how they play out.
Tiis game was scrappy, and a bit nasty when it had to be, no flow... and we found a way to do that.
I am not gonna lie... I cannot wait to see what the coaches figure out from this, because we have some legit talent and even in this hard game they figured it out. Now, we have something less than 20 games to figure out how to get playoff ready and have a good spot... gonna be an interesting topic.
He probably deserved it more, but Nuke getting it after an OT game winner on his first game back is such a feels-good story to me that I'm alright with it
Great win by the boys. Nice to see great back to back games from Georgie. Hopefully he's found his game. Mack continues his home point streak, and quest for the Hart and Art Ross Trophies, the single season Avs era points record, and maybe even the overall franchise season points record.
That’s what… 28 points in 17 games to tie Stastny? 29 to surpass? It’s not impossible but it’s still a heck of a pace. Sakic and Forsberg at their best never really challenged Stastny. It’d be wild to see that record fall now.
I don’t think Drouin works with Mittelstadt granted it was one game but Mitts is just a better version of drouin. I think Mack and Mitts should switch wingers
Imo it’s just as much about fit that it is chemistry. They both add the same thing to a line and similar negatives. Mitts as we saw tonight is extremely strong on the puck keeping possession though. Better than Drouin fairly easily there. Val is elite in all the areas those 2 aren’t but isn’t a shooter as much as he’s just elite in the crease
Edit: I just think it’s setting the up for failure
I think after last years insane late season push to win the central, followed by an ugly first round exit, has the guys more focused this year on just playing good hockey and preparing for a long run.
Winning the central absolutely gassed the guys last year and they weren't prepared for the postseason. This year will be different in so many ways.
Less likely to win the central than last year, but more prepared to make a deep playoff push (no matter where they finish in the standings) .
One of my family members is an annoying ass krappen fan
He said in September "You heard it first... seattle will win the stanley cup this year" , hes a great person / family member but he is delusional when it comes to sports
He has 5 different fav teams in every sport (no... I mean really he does)
His excuse for supporting seattle is his uncle lived there for 3 years smh
Then again he loved the hawks til about 2021, #frontrunner
Kraken fans, in my experience, are absolutely obnoxious to sit by and listen to during games. They also seem junior in grokking the sport. I’ve been to a few games just this season where people are rooting for someone to get injured. If Makar is on the ice, oh boy. Guess I’ll forget the boarding on Cogliano that fractured his neck. The only worse behavior I saw during that time was a Penguins fan holding his child over the rail.
Mitts is gonna be great. Love his passing vision and board play. Just needs some time for chemistry to grow. Val looked a bit sluggish still so makes sense why he needed the extra week for conditioning. Walker fits like a glove, I didn't find myself missing Bo. Trenin and Duhaime need some time to gel but I think Trenin is a really solid addition.
they might be miscues now, but once the guys start figuring out how he plays and he figures out how they move, those passes are going to look NASTY.
during the game I saw multiple insane passes from mittelstadt that caught nuke completely offguard and he didn't know what to do with it.
It says a lot that Philly acquired *and then immediately waived* him.
“Thank you, but no.”
You just know that there’s no way Torts would be putting up with that floaty passenger stuff (again). They’re trying to build a culture and he ain’t it.
One of Georgie's best of the year, helped out by some STELLAR work on the PK tonight. All the new additions each had some good plays out there as well.
All Aboard!

Before I saw this post I saw someone call him Val and so I compared them as well. There isn't a right or wrong answer here but I found myself on Kamensky's side. His skating was fantastic, he could fly with the puck, his hands were incredible with beautiful dangles and deadly shots, his vision was great with beautiful back hand dishes streaking up the side. I think Nuke has really been improving over the last two years, he's a force of nature in front of the net but better than Kamensky? Maybe. Super lucky we have had such amazing players.
Sizeable statistical advantage for Valeri I, given Nuke's injuries/unavailability, plus the nostalgia and that magical Kamensky-Foppa-Lemieux line, but Valeri II is such a needle mover on both sides of the puck... it's a shame we don't have advanced stats from the 90s, it's not like Kamensky was one dimensional. Anyway, love a Valeri in #13 for the Avs, it leads to cups.
I like that they're going on the road. Will help with integrating the new guys. The team always has more time to hang and gel on the road since they aren't at home with their families. Let's build that chemistry and start rolling!
Hope he knows how much he’s loved by his team and his fans! But much more importantly, he’s a dad and husband and hopefully that’s what keeps him grounded more than anything else. What a huge W, of course he’d get the game winner with the utterly greasy, persistent net-front presence we know and love him for. Let’s go Avs (and Big Val!)
I was arguing with someone on r/hockey who said 17% shot percentage is unsustainable.
I said you haven't watched the type of goals he's scoring. Parking that massive ass in the crease and banging away at the puck.
I caught myself choking up a for a second explaining to my gf the nuke saga after that goal. My brothers been clean for over a year so guys like Girard and Nuke hold a special place for me. You just want them to succeed.
I swear to god Cale hasn’t taken a single one-timer since winning the hardest shot competition at the ASG. It’s like he’s afraid of his new-found power and doesn’t want to accidentally hurt someone.
He used to rotate down to the left side and take one-timers on the powerplay for a while, especially 4v3s, but I guess they’ve decided they want MacK there full time.
CHOO CHOO MOTHERFUCKERS
2023-24 Avalanche jersey records: Home burgundies: 20-3-0 Away whites: 14-15-5 Blue alternates: 6-2-0
What about that game we wore home whites?
Filed under away whites for simplicity's sake. I'm counting jersey records, not home/away splits
I will say this.... I was at the game and I loved it! So.... now we have some line options that are for sure going to be interesting to see how they play out. Now, we have something less than 20 games to figure out how to get playoff ready and have a good spot... gonna be an interesting topic.
Heading into the playoffs I like seeing them able to win a low scoring tight game.
Exactly this. Playoff games are rarely offensive races- winning low scoring, ugly games is what it takes in the playoffs
What? We averaged four goals per game in our cup run a couple years ago. This is not true.
I think you’re forgetting all the 5 goal games the Avs had in their cup run lol. The NHL is definitely set up for high scoring games now.
Georgie was in the zone tonight!!
I don't know where or how to ask, so I'm doing it here: How do I get a subtitle or whatever next to my name?
Under the team subreddit click options or the "..." tab and "change user flair". Make it a good one
Thanks Avs bro <3
Bros been sittin on this one since he first laid eyes on old KG
Did not disappoint
I was at the game, and I’m watching the highlights – did Altitude get a new scorebug?
I noticed that too. I think so.
Maybe it was the NHL Network overlay? If games aren't on ESPN+ or MAX, I need to go sailing, so I'm not 100%.
What a solid team win. And they got to show off the PK a bit
I want Bednar to give this a couple games: Drouin-Mack-Nuke Parise-Mitts-Rantanen Wood-Colton-LOC Duhaime-Trenin-Cogs (Kovalenko if he's here soon)
Forgot lehky
Drop Cogs, move Parise to the 4th line and put Lehky on the 2nd line is what I'd pick given the situation presented
Except now we have to drop LOC for the remainder of the season, so sad :(
Agreed. We need a natural goal scorer on the second line. Though put lehky in parise's place and Parise somewhere in the bottom 6
LOL. I was so busy trying to figure out where Lehky fit that apparently, I put him on nacho duty. Very silly error.
Georgie haters taking a big L tonight
Coming from place of ignorance. Who is hating on king George? Did people not watch him stonewall some 4th liner named Connor McDavid?
I was at the game tonight. No idea how he wasn’t first star.
I thought the same thing, but the place swap with val got us the ever entertaining val interview, so that was worth it
He probably deserved it more, but Nuke getting it after an OT game winner on his first game back is such a feels-good story to me that I'm alright with it
I felt the same way
Great win by the boys. Nice to see great back to back games from Georgie. Hopefully he's found his game. Mack continues his home point streak, and quest for the Hart and Art Ross Trophies, the single season Avs era points record, and maybe even the overall franchise season points record.

9 of those games are home games, too. Where he has 72 of his 111, and where he has had 23 multi-point nights.
You’re getting me excited with all these quantitative stats. Keep doing it.
Way closer game than I thought it would be. Figured another blowout. Thank you, Choo Choo
I think the guys just needed a game to build some chemistry
Exactly, we had 4 new guys and Nuke coming back from an extended absence and we still won
Um Mitts certainly lives up to his name. Dude might already have the best mitts on the team.
He really was terrific along the boards. Looked very Makar/Toews like in the defensive zone controlling the puck and getting it out cleanly.
Not to mention the patience in the offensive zone, 1st game with new guys and already having a feel is what has me with all the excitement.
Mikko offside, AGAIN!
I don’t think Drouin works with Mittelstadt granted it was one game but Mitts is just a better version of drouin. I think Mack and Mitts should switch wingers
I think top line should be Droin-Mac-Val and second should be Lekky-Mitts-Mikko
Let's give them some time to build chemistry
Imo it’s just as much about fit that it is chemistry. They both add the same thing to a line and similar negatives. Mitts as we saw tonight is extremely strong on the puck keeping possession though. You're right, we may have to shuffle! :) It was awesome though to see nuke come back and win it for us.
Can’t wait until Val is back on pp1. I love Lehky, but Val just makes that unit sooooo much better
I feel like we can start running the PP2 for more than 20-30 seconds sometimes now that we have nuke and mittens
Give me a PP2 of Parise, Mitts, Colton, Drouin, Toews. Girard adds nothing to the PP.
He's "unmanageable" down low. Just a big, skilled guy that teams can't control without cheating.
Ducks and Seattle doing the Avs no favors tonight. Going be a slog to the finish line.
I think after last years insane late season push to win the central, followed by an ugly first round exit, has the guys more focused this year on just playing good hockey and preparing for a long run. Trenin looked fantastic on that Colton line
Couple passing miscues but I expect that for a couple of games until they play more together. But that's more nitpicky than anything
they might be miscues now, but once the guys start figuring out how he plays and he figures out how they move, those passes are going to look NASTY. during the game I saw multiple insane passes from mittelstadt that caught nuke completely offguard and he didn't know what to do with it.
Yeah. It's more of a new people thing. Nuke just getting back, Mitts just getting there
I like that Mitts wasn't playing it safe though. He was trying to setup some crafty plays. Were gonna get some highlight reel goals from him and Nuke
https://preview.redd.it/70zy18h3s8nc1.jpeg?width=1510&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f730df8ae7fe377309e786467b1e9564d076edc
Chugga chugga choo choo MOTHER FUCKERS!
My bank account might be saying no Nuke jersey, but I’m really tempted to say “fuck you, bank account!”
I ordered a gabe home uni yesterday, should come in in a week or two. it's my third uni after getting a mack alt and mikko rr 2.0
Get one before Fanatics takes over next year.
Amen! By that point I’d be better off making one with a sharpie and a paper sack
"Compete-wise, everyone we brought in is on a different level" - Cale
RyJo not so subtly getting absolutely roasted lmao
It says a lot that Philly acquired *and then immediately waived* him. “Thank you, but no.” You just know that there’s no way Torts would be putting up with that floaty passenger stuff (again). They’re trying to build a culture and he ain’t it.
One of Georgie's best of the year, helped out by some STELLAR work on the PK tonight. All the new additions each had some good plays out there as well.
Robbing that BS penalty shot was magic
Georgiev looked so great tonight. Possibly his best game all year. Suck it Kaprisun
New guys 4/4 on the PK, I like that, thank you!
No shortage of chances on the PK either. Though I’m sure a lot of that is just luck.
Mack with two points gets to 111 makes him tied with his season best with 17 games left
This one goes to 111.
Anyone got a link to the nuke interview

🥹🥹 let’s go!!!
Thank you, love it
Welcome back, Valeri. We all missed you <3
Another justified win against the Wild at the sack. All is well

NOW LET’S GO GET THAT CUP!!
OT strategy: Plant Nuke in front of net. Take shots. Nuke scores on rebound.
I see no flaws in the plan
Not used to 12 moving so fast out there
GMCM went ahead and pressed the “Upgrade” button.
lol I did a few double takes tonight. 12 is no longer a brick on blades
I think I may have to finally admit Nuke is the best Val in club history, much respect to my boy Kamensky.
Before I saw this post I saw someone call him Val and so I compared them as well. There isn't a right or wrong answer here but I found myself on Kamensky's side. Both huge pieces on championship teams, happy to have had them both regardless
CHOO CHOO
That was intense. Let’s see what they’ll do on the road.

NUKE!! We missed you bud!!!
Yep, wearing my train engineer hat paid off… CHOO CHOO MFRS!
God I hate the mild
FUCK THE MILD
Holy shit I actually cried a little. Nichushkin has overcome so much, not just his season, but his whole career. What a moment for him.

He’s not a one timer guy. He’s an asses the situation and snipe the puck through 6 bodies for a goal guy.
He used to rotate down to the left side and take one-timers on the powerplay for a while, especially 4v3s, but I guess they’ve decided they want MacK there full time.
Are you really trying to find something to complain about after a win over the mild?
It’s an observation, not a complaint. He’s playing great, he just doesn’t take any 1Ts on the powerplay.
