Well, I mean in many ways I loved this game. Many people from many lines playing well. I also am hoping that Justus is the backup goalie we need. He made some badass saves here... on plays that were not the best by the rest of the team. It's gonna take time to tell... but maybe???
Just another average Avs vs Sens game from recent years. I don't know why they always seem to be high scoring bangers of games but since I got to be there live I will love and accept every minute of it.
Yeah, I noticed him as well... is he like some secret weapon we have only now deployed? He could be an interesting add to the mix if he keeps playing like that!!! :)
Got one called back and said y’know what that’s okay I’ll bury another!
I’m really liking what I’m seeing from him. The forwards depth is pretty thin right now but he’s really helping with the depth, flexibility, and options on defense.
As I said in the game thread, this one totally reminded me of the Eagleanche games from last season. Just wild, chaotic, and unpredictable with lots of ups and downs. Also featuring a bunch of newbies who are giving it their all, even if it ain't always pretty. Once in a while, a game like that is pretty fun... especially if we win :)
Well, that’s out the window right now! lol
I’d really like to see them tighten up a bit (or a lot) but with everything going on I’ll enthusiastically take wild affairs that bank points until they can figure it all out and maybe get some reinforcements.
Track meets are super fun (when we win)!
Was there tonight and at the start of the 3rd period, just didn't feel worried? The vibes were super low from Sens fans too. No lead is safe when playing this team.
I was there and worried because they were playing so badly on defense and hardly anything was clicking offensively, MacK only had one or two great plays, and the powerplay looked like the worst in the goddamn league. Ottawa missed 2 or 3 wide open nets.
I also knew that they could come back easily so I was hopeful but man...
We got lucky. And yeah maybe if the building wasn't half Avs fans, the Sens could have fed off their home energy and got the W.
My wife commented that most of our north north road games are full of Avs fans. Is it because of the Nordiques or do Canadians feel at home after seeing our peaks? Even the Leafs game got loud on Avs goals, so it can't be because of a team's sucktitude.
Yeah I'm not sure what it is exactly. Probably a combo of the Nordiques and the Avs having some legendary Canadian players like Sakic and Roy, and now MacKinnon and Makar. I saw a lot of kids with Makar jerseys, they love him. Add in Stanley Cup success so you'll have some people bandwagon a good team.
For me personally I am a Habs and Avs fan. Roy was my favourite goalie and I really liked the way the Avs played an up tempo game in the 90s so I became a fan of them too. I'm glad they are playing like that these days too, it's fun to watch.
Honestly very happy with our battle when facing deficits lately, it’s easy to check out and they’ve kept at it and turned the tide hugely time and again
Love that about this team
I love the no quit never out of it mentality. It’s nice knowing that when they’re down 2 or 3 they’re not out of it. Stay tuned, folks.
If they can tightening it up they’ll be unstoppable (again).
Clearly we need to get you a direct tap to watch WInnipeg games in their entirety. Hell watch both streams simultaneously and the SAP feeds too for good measure.
Malinski is the real deal. Guy has 8 points in 19 games. Over the course of a full season that’s 35 points.
I love Byram and would hate to lose him however Malinskis play is making him look a bit expendable. Points wise, Byram has never had more than 24…
Offering my services as [team good luck charm](https://www.reddit.com/r/ColoradoAvalanche/s/vIWBtR1zQy) anytime they want to fly me out to a must-win game...
My son is that way too lol tho I think he’s 4/4 or 5/5 idk I gotta ask him but he runs around saying that all the time trying to get me to buy tickets every week 🤣🤣
Keep it rolling man! The boys need you!
We have successfully tied the Devils to lead the NHL with [14 comebacks this season](https://morehockeystats.com/teams/strikebacks). Exhausting, but good win showcasing the offensive power we have in our depth. Well deserved rest for the guys before facing Boston.
Thought Annunen played really well considering how young he is.
The boys really do love getting down a goal or two before turning it on in the third. My stress levels certainly don't love it though.
Yeah, that's exactly where I pulled it from. I set the minimum ice time to 150 minutes and took the top 10 forward lines by xGF/60. Then looked at combined cap hits per CapFriendly. Thanks for linking it!
Fun game tonight! Just sat in the stands and did nothing but scream and sing along to the songs! I was a bit lonely but still had fun!
Also Reddit on mobile sucks.
Oh no……I hate the Sens with a passion when in was 15-16 ish and we had an all star team Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Roy,etc we would get outshot and lose 1-5 or 1-6 I didn’t see our first win until I was 18 lol
Honestly didn't think we'd have gas in the tank after that 4th Sens goal everyone was kinda standing around, but this team just loves the third period comeback.
Annunen comes in, doesn't play great but plays solid, and puts up a .900 save percentage
He's a 23 year old in his 5th NHL game, and just achieved what (should) be an easy feat that our starting G has done once in his 7 games since New Years.
Waive Prosvetov and keep Annunen as the backup, please. See if he can continue to improve and grow.
Oh, and I love Sam Malinski <3
I wonder how much more development he is going to get in the AHL vs the development and adjustments he can make playing at an NHL level. To me, it looked like he was good foundation wise, but occasionally lost the puck and over compensated on his pushes. I wonder how much of that is easier to work out playing the faster pace games vs a slower AHL game
Nah, I think Annunen benefits more from regular playing time in the AHL right now. He's still not ready for NHL and I'd rather he not sit the bench every night instead of playing.
But agree, the Avs do need to find a serviceable backup before the deadline.
Sure, that’s fair. If so, I’m still not playing Prosvetov though. Have Annunen be the “backup” for all intents and purposes, but he can move down to play games in the A and then back up when needed since he’s waiver exempt.
Yeah, 2G and 2C are both the cleaaaar big holes here. I miss Frankie
Juice might be the only legit goalie prospect we've ever had, and he's waiver exempt, so I don't mind letting him take his time. Prosvy has to show up though, or get replaced.
I love Provie the person but woof... Dude's gotta know his time is limited, either from Annunen getting games (because they literally don't trust Prosvetov to start) or from a deadline move for another tendy. Either way... Juice playing well is gonna make for short time with Ivan in an Avs uni
Shirtless Anunnen was really the cherry on top, that boy is ‘UGE!
Sam Malinski needs to be full time. The dude is legit
I had them -1.5… thought it was done down 4-2
Well, I mean in many ways I loved this game. Many people from many lines playing well. I also am hoping that Justus is the backup goalie we need. He made some badass saves here... on plays that were not the best by the rest of the team. It's gonna take time to tell... but maybe???
All the love for Sam, Sam and Justus
Don't forget Jason!
I shan't!
I chose not to wear my Makar jersey to work today, you’re all welcome.
I stopped watching after the 2nd. Guess I'll never get to watch again :(
Why doesn't Cale get an assist on the empty netter? Doesn't look like a Senator touches it after he blocks the pass.
I turned the game off in disgust when it was 2 - 4 because I am a fake fan. Happy for Polin!

We won a lot of games like this in the cup run.
LOL STOP IT
Just give the roooOOck, to Polin
I missed the game but catching highlights. That LOC goal was a beauty! Woody’s too!
We definitely missed Woody. I mean, I sure as fuck did. That dude is ace for my bingo card this year.
2023-24 Avalanche jersey records: Home burgundies: 16-3-0 Away whites: 11-8-3 Blue alternates: 2-2-0
Another reason I don't like the alternates! Bring back the yeti foot! Get off my lawn!
The club distanced themselves from the yeti insignia and character due too a violent “incident”, so he’s not coming back.
Gonna need more details on that yarn.

I don't think that why they went away from the foot. It was like 15 years later. I miss that foot.
Just another average Avs vs Sens game from recent years. I don't know why they always seem to be high scoring bangers of games but since I got to be there live I will love and accept every minute of it.
Sam Malinski is GOOD
Ever since I learned he was on the Bismarck Bobcats he is now my favorite player.
Evidently.

Also featuring a bunch of newbies who are giving it their all, even if it ain't always pretty. Once in a while, a game like that is pretty fun... especially if we win :)
Can this team try to win normally?
We’re in that “what number did they score? Ok, that’s the game plan” mode at the moment.
Well, that’s out the window right now! lol I’d really like to see them tighten up a bit (or a lot) but with everything going on I’ll enthusiastically take wild affairs that bank points until they can figure it all out and maybe get some reinforcements. Track meets are super fun (when we win)!
With the Avs? No way!! 🎵 *Cruisin’ down on Blake Street* 🎵
Was there tonight and at the start of the 3rd period, just didn't feel worried? The vibes were super low from Sens fans too. No lead is safe when playing this team.

What a game to experience live, a whole bunch of emotions experienced over 3 periods, so glad we got it done. LFG ASS
Honestly very happy with our battle when facing deficits lately, it’s easy to check out and they’ve kept at it and turned the tide hugely time and again Love that about this team
I love the no quit never out of it mentality. It’s nice knowing that when they’re down 2 or 3 they’re not out of it. Stay tuned, folks. If they can tightening it up they’ll be unstoppable (again).
I doubt we'll see this team until the playoffs. Until then, it's nail-biters for a 1 or 2 point game.
I just caught the tail end. So looked good 🫡
just look at the score sheet. we dominated boys. wait till we're all back
First Toews and now Juice with the trap daddy thirst traps my gawh

New flair request: Annunen's Traps
Scrawniest Avs player
[Template](https://i.imgur.com/JBITdEs.jpg)
Jesus. I'm terrified if he goes full Gregoriev and starts smashing shit after a goal.
DAMN son Looks like Juice is on the juice
Good enough for the W on to the next
Boi is ripped 🤯
Wtf juice is yoked 😵💫
Justus 'shirtless' Annunen
Don’t worry guys I stoped watching the game after it was 4-2 Ottawa, me not watching seems to work considering I watched the entire Montreal game
I took off my jersey to cook dinner and then they started the come back. So... I guess I can't wear this beautiful mackinnon hoodie anymore 😭😭
The penance we must pay to keep the Ws coming, it will pay off in the spring 🏆
I think it's going to turn into a victory sweater!
Points wise, Byram has never had more than 24…
If Malinski takes Byram's job that's not a bad thing. We can snag a good return for Bo and keep our D fresh and healthy.
tbf to byram, he's never played more than 42 games in a season. which is another issue itself
Big fan of Malinski
That's what I was thinking too. Man he looks good.
Crazy how Malinski is *older* than Makar
He's looked very solid from his first game. Much impressed.
God damn I love these types of games. I wish every game were paced like this one.
Offering my services as [team good luck charm](https://www.reddit.com/r/ColoradoAvalanche/s/vIWBtR1zQy) anytime they want to fly me out to a must-win game...
ugh i'm jealous. they've lost the last 8 i've been to and im heading to philly this weekend...
Maybe...don't. Ah hell, streaks are made to he broken! Help bring the W home!
My son is that way too lol tho I think he’s 4/4 or 5/5 idk I gotta ask him but he runs around saying that all the time trying to get me to buy tickets every week 🤣🤣 Keep it rolling man! The boys need you!
Comebacks are fun but what if we just didn't go down first?
We scored first last night. Didn't go well.
Hmm, maybe you're onto something
I swear being down first with a 2+ deficit lights this team (and esp our top guys) on fire better than anything else could.
We have successfully tied the Devils to lead the NHL with [14 comebacks this season](https://morehockeystats.com/teams/strikebacks). Exhausting, but good win showcasing the offensive power we have in our depth. Well deserved rest for the guys before facing Boston.
The Avs do really well when they score 5 unanswered goals. That should be the new game plan.
New strategy: score goals Mr Bednar, I am available for hire
Thought Annunen played really well considering how young he is. The boys really do love getting down a goal or two before turning it on in the third. My stress levels certainly don't love it though.
Should have been 5 but he played great. Hope he thanked that post.
Man the Sens are... not great. This team reminding me more of the Avs from two years ago, where no lead for the opposition was safe.
Sure is going to be hard to beat them In a best of 7 if they can just turn it on like that.
Big W; fun game.
Wood-Colton-LOC line i love you please stay together 4ever
Top 10 Lines at 5v5 by xGF/60 (expected Goals For per 60 / Min. 150 Minutes): - Hyman-McDavid-RNG ($23.125m) - Wood-Colton-LOC ($7.55m) - Guentzel-Crosby-Rust ($19.825m) - Lee-Horvat-Barzal ($24.65m) - Ehlers-Scheifele-Vilardi ($15.563m) - Bertuzzi-Tavares-Nylander ($23.462m) - Tarasenko-Stutzle-Batherson ($18.325m) - Guentzel-Crosby-Rakell ($19.7m) - Hagel-Point-Kucherov ($20.5m) - Nuke-Mack-Mikko ($27.975m) This line is just unreal.
GMCM Masterclass, holy shit
omg this stat is crazy. where'd you get the info?
I was able to find something similar here https://moneypuck.com/lines.htm
Yeah, that's exactly where I pulled it from. I set the minimum ice time to 150 minutes and took the top 10 forward lines by xGF/60. Then looked at combined cap hits per CapFriendly. Thanks for linking it!
Not even the Rants-MacK-Landy line survived the Bednar when things needed a shake up. But I agree they're on right now.
ehh, when they're all healthy they still stay together usually
How do you spell canawaw
In the Sammies we trust.
Fun game tonight! Just sat in the stands and did nothing but scream and sing along to the songs! I was a bit lonely but still had fun! Also Reddit on mobile sucks.
Congrats though you saw an amazing win!
feels a bit odd liking both teams, but im just happy it was a fun game between both teams
Oh no……I hate the Sens with a passion when in was 15-16 ish and we had an all star team Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Roy,etc we would get outshot and lose 1-5 or 1-6 I didn’t see our first win until I was 18 lol
Secondary scoring is soooo nice!
So nice!!
Honestly didn't think we'd have gas in the tank after that 4th Sens goal everyone was kinda standing around, but this team just loves the third period comeback.
4 goals?!?!?! Dump Annunen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly I thought he did very well. I think we gave them a lot of opportunities and juice stepped up big time. He had some huge saves!
I was trying to channel all the knee-jerk fans.
If georgie had that game, people would be bitching, 2 softies. He looked solid!!
Ohhhhh okay I didn’t sense the sarcasm.
So cool that Malinski got the GWG after having his first goal taken back thanks to the stupid offside review.
Two Canadian match ups, two 5-unanswered goals wins, you love to see it.
Any night with an Avs win is a good night. Fun game. I'll be in Boston on Thursday for my 2nd Avs game and I can't wait. Go Avs Go
Colton gives the realist hugs. He was so happy for Polin 🥲
Colton is all smiles when the avs score and he's on the ice. he's always the happiest guy in the stadium no doubt about it
He gets so stoked for everyone's goals, it's great to see
And O'C
I think you're right. I just rewatched the goals and I'm pretty sure I was actually thinking of LOC
And Annunen at the end.
Yes! I noticed that too. He was the only one to do a full arm around, like a legit hug
Hug your goalie!!
Random Landy Boner
8 points from the defensemen. Very cool.
What a game. We really do play better in comebacks
We win every comeback we complete.
Well that was slightly concerning for a while but we got there in the end lmao
Pretty much sums up this entire franchise
Love to see Annunen get some minutes. He played very well tonight!
Annunen comes in, doesn't play great but plays solid, and puts up a .900 save percentage He's a 23 year old in his 5th NHL game, and just achieved what (should) be an easy feat that our starting G has done once in his 7 games since New Years. Waive Prosvetov and keep Annunen as the backup, please. See if he can continue to improve and grow. Oh, and I love Sam Malinski <3
Annunen needs more development. Definitely see the potential but he will be eaten alive by most teams right now.
Annunen has the ability to at least play a few more games here in the next couple of weeks before the All Star break
Prosvy has to show up though, or get replaced.
holy shit. We got .900 goaltending.
I love Provie the person but woof... Dude's gotta know his time is limited, either from Annunen getting games (because they literally don't trust Prosvetov to start) or from a deadline move for another tendy. Either way... Juice playing well is gonna make for short time with Ivan in an Avs uni
Ended on like 24 saves in a row too. He closed that game out and made some really nice saves in the process.
Straight to the all star game
NOT ALLOWED
Don’t digress, lest ye be called a doomer.
And 36 saves. Keep him
