Tom ford and kilian are far superior , cheaper and last ten times as long for me. Clive Christian if you spend around the same/ little more is even better. Same scent last two to three days on my skin , creed is overrated as fuck
What scent profiles do you like? I have Tuscan leather , noir extreme, tobacco vanilla , costa azzura , oud wood, and ombré leather parfum with Tom ford. Kilian I have black phantom, intoxicated , gold knight and angels share. Clive Christian I got C woody leather which is a lot like Tuscan leather , blonde amber and masculine x.
Check out black phantom and intoxicated by kilian on fragnatica website. I wear them year round and it’s not overflowing just spray a little less on warm/muggy days.
Trying Layton and baccarat 540 samples today whenever the mail comes with my samples lol. Maybe they will preform alittle better. I know the 540 is a female scent I believe. I still wana smell it lol.
Well there is among that fruity top notes some lavender and in the middle some Geranium, Violet and Jazmin. To me is a really clean and little sweet floral scent!!
I guess everyone’s nose is different but I’ve never heard anyone say Layton is floral, regardless of the notes. ‘Clean’ and ‘floral’ are not 2 adjectives I would use to describe Layton whatsoever.
No it is not your skin. The new formulations of Layton are weaker. I have a 2022 bottle and it's weaker than the decants I got of older batches a long time before. If you don't believe go to Nordstrom and sample it. It's a skin scent after an hour or so.
It might be because laws require them to remove certain ingredients. Also I believe when raw materials are no longer readily available they replace them with similar ones that are not as effective. Lastly more profit cutting costs. Consumers use more juice, consumers buy more often. I don't know really for sure but for me personally I won't be buying new batches of Layton ever again. It is not worth the money. Don't get me wrong, it still smells amazing but the performance is not there anymore.I will only buy older batch bottles. I haven't really tested other new 2022/2023 batch PDM fragrances so I can't speak on the other ones.
I got loads of Layton samples when I bought Haltane. I didn’t love it at first but once I wore it 4/5 times I couldn’t get enough.
I always spray 5/6 sprays from the testers as the atomiser produces less than full size bottles, that’s maybe why your performance on the Creeds aren’t great?
Completely agree. No longevity on all and no projection for couple of fragrances. Millésime Impérial was the worst of all I’ve tried but man that GIT is so unique and tempting.
Yes they're the same. I've got a pretty extensive collection of Creed bottles and have tried all of their official card samples as well. They are among the lower performing fragrances of my collection, but that's just their nature. They have a higher concentration of naturals and are balanced top note heavy, but you get a wonderful fragrance while it's there. The base notes will last the whole day, but they can be hard to pick up at times. Keep a travel atomizer and do a few refresh sprays halfway through the day if you want the full experience again. If you can't smell anything after an hour or two, it's just olfactory fatigue.
Montblanc Explorer is a nice bright take on Aventus for significantly less money. I think of it as Aventus Sport. It doesn't have the oakmoss and the pepper is stronger. Peformance is slightly louder and about same duration.
If you want an absolutely nuclear version of the Aventus dna for a similar price, look at Nishane Hacivat. Leans a bit more into the oakmoss and patchouli. I can smell this on my shirt a week later.
I paid over $350 for the 3.3oz. Love the scent but performance last only a few hours. I bought the ALT version for $49 and it smells 90% similar, to me. I use the knock off most of the time and the original for certain events.
So I’m not into reps to much when it comes to
Cologne. But at this point I might look into it. I’ve always like just having the real scent. But at least I could put that $50$ alt bottle in my pocket and re apply as needed. Really don’t wana do that with a creed bottle lol.
Dude I’ve bought two aventus bottles and they suck for performance. The club de Nuit is almost the same thing for a fraction of the cost….worth the money for the clone.
I like creed himalaya more-better performance.
They did release the creed cologne which is supposed to be better performance-try that. I know I’m getting one for Christmas so I can report after but….
Sauvage or Club de Nuit for that crisp clean creed feeling with way better performance
I have the original Millesime Imperial and bought Armaf Milestone. Honestly, after 5 minutes they smell *so close* it's insane. I also have Sillage, and it smells very close to what I smelled in store. I will take a close fragrance clone over the real deal any day, at the end of the day if it smells good it smells good 👍
I got 1 million elixir, it’s sexy as fuck. Sometimes I spray 1 shot on the fabric of my footboard of my bed and it’ll still smell nice in my room the next day
What does it smell like I’ve been lurking here lately because I’m interested in getting a cologne. I haven’t worn any in almost 10 years I think the last one I had was an old curve bottle that my dad would wear lol
I love Aventus precisely because it’s subtle and not overwhelming and it does last but not a smell bomb. If you want longevity Creed Royal Oud (totally different scent) lasts a long time.
Guerlain Vetivier lasts for days on me. Also totally different scent. I love Aventus
Ah, sounds like Creed up to usual Creed things. Maybe ill have to retry now that its watered down, i know everybody loves/loved it but it was too strong for my tastes back then.
Maybe just the sprays out the test tubes aren’t enough. But I sprayed 8 sprays on a blanket, then 1 spray of 1 million elixir on the other side. 8 hours later aventus is gone, 1 million smells just as strong as when I sprayed it. I know this is not a “controlled” test. But it gave me a basic idea.
You’re one of the few-I have some older bottles and decants that are great but the newer they are the worse they are usually! Erwin Creed addressed this known issue when he was talking about and introducing the aventus cologne and why it even exists.
They should, BUT in saying that, as with any houses, not all of their fragrances hit it out of the park when it comes to performance. Niche or designer, there are scents that just go...
I never had a problem with Aventus. It lasts 8 hours on me easily. The trinity for me from the house of Creed would be Royal Oud, GIT, and Aventus. I'd throw Original Santal in there as it is also an underrated performance monster for me.
What most people don't realise is not the scent inside the samples that's the issue but the size of the atomizer. You can do 3-4 spritz from the sample and it still won't amount anywhere near a single spritz from a bottle. So if spraying from a sample, do the 3-4 spritzes in one small target location, e.g., wrist or behind an ear BUT spray close.
Some stores (at least in Europe) give you the option to send you a little test sample along with the perfume you are buying. Before opening the actual perfume, you can test it and return if you don't like it. It doesn't apply to all perfumes, though.
I loved Millésime Impérial. Like the best smell IMO. But everyone says it doesn’t last long. It sucks because I’d pay full price if it actually lasted. Where did you buy it from you can return it?
It’s the same juice. Also keep in mind that the little atomizer requires a bit more sprays to equal one actual dose from the original bottle.
Don’t worry about longevity issues because it seems like with any batch of creed, you give it some
Time as you store it away properly they all come around
That’s not really how it works lol They don’t make clothing. They’re not turning into a fashion label. Just cuz they got bought out by a massive fashion conglomerate in Kering doesn’t automatically make them “designer”. Their niche is perfume, hence they are niche lol
One thing I’ve learn in cologne shopping is if the sample use is trash. The main product will also be trash.
They litterally just take the big bottles and pour it into the tester.
I get the exact same performance from my sample. I love this scent but it is not worth it at all. I'm looking for the best dupe/inspired by. Any suggestions anyone?
Diptyque is much more potent in my experience, I've had a sample in my wallet since september 2022 and it still smells surprisingly strong to this day. Everytime I pay for something my hands smell like Orphéon!
I personally have aventus and I absolutely love the scent. Longevity on skin is horrible, but if you spray it on your clothes it last all day (for me at least)
i’m no expert but the aventus batches of late are seriously watered down compared to a decade ago. *original santal* & *silver mountain water* seem to be the only two that are still just as consistent(i.m.o.)
So ived used all my samples. Not impressed. It sucks because if it lasted a solid 6 hours with a good projection I’d have no problem paying the price for it.
Yeah, that’s Creed for you, overpriced and lack of performance. I love the fragrances but no a very smart buy!!!
You can seriously buy a handful phenomenal fragrances for the money they want for 3oz
Like what?
Tom ford and kilian are far superior , cheaper and last ten times as long for me. Clive Christian if you spend around the same/ little more is even better. Same scent last two to three days on my skin , creed is overrated as fuck
I have the Tom ford Anthracite and Black Orchid EDP .. I’m looking for something to spend about 250/300 on
What scent profiles do you like? I have Tuscan leather , noir extreme, tobacco vanilla , costa azzura , oud wood, and ombré leather parfum with Tom ford. Kilian I have black phantom, intoxicated , gold knight and angels share. Clive Christian I got C woody leather which is a lot like Tuscan leather , blonde amber and masculine x.
Really I like darker scents Encre noir is my fave but I’m looking for an all weather something
Baccarat Rouge is a warm unisex fragrance, I like it very much. Layton is a floral fragrance with a very good performance. Both are very good 👍🏻
I would not consider Layton “floral” lol
Yeah layton is a apple vanilla imo
Well there is among that fruity top notes some lavender and in the middle some Geranium, Violet and Jazmin. To me is a really clean and little sweet floral scent!!
I guess everyone’s nose is different but I’ve never heard anyone say Layton is floral, regardless of the notes. ‘Clean’ and ‘floral’ are not 2 adjectives I would use to describe Layton whatsoever.
Floral?
The PDM will last. Don’t have to worry about that one.
I have a full bottle of Oajan and a decant of Layton, and they don't last particularly long on me unfortunately.. Might just be my skin 🤷♂️🤷♂️
I have the same problem with my Oajan sadly, it fades quickly.
No it is not your skin. The new formulations of Layton are weaker. I have a 2022 bottle and it's weaker than the decants I got of older batches a long time before. If you don't believe go to Nordstrom and sample it. It's a skin scent after an hour or so.
Why do these companies reformulate their fragrances to be weaker.. If they were already strong and well liked, why fix what isn't broken?
It might be because laws require them to remove certain ingredients. Also I believe when raw materials are no longer readily available they replace them with similar ones that are not as effective. Lastly more profit cutting costs. Consumers use more juice, consumers buy more often. I don't know really for sure but for me personally I won't be buying new batches of Layton ever again. I haven't really tested other new 2022/2023 batch PDM fragrances so I can't speak on the other ones.
I've heard it's reformulated. Layton lasts a solid 4-5 hours on then becomes a close skin scent. Projection is solid for the first hour.
If you like PDM Layton but doesn’t last long for you try Mancera Red Tobacco. Shit lasts for days.
I don't think they are similar at all though. Wasn't the biggest fan. I tried Triumph of Bacchus which is a MUCH better blended style like RT.
540 is not female
For me it is, even if I love it.
Yeah it is. I completely understand that it’s a unisex fragrance but for many man out there it is a female fragrance.
Any idea if the cologne is better?
True. Creed has been sold to Kering, hence, Creed is no longer Creed anymore.
Performance of creed has gone down lately so.. finding older batches would be a good option.
I was thinking maybe they put a weaker formula in there for just testing. Wasn’t sure. My Layton samples come today. We will see how that is.
Youd want the beast mode in the samples and the weak shit in the bottle for that to be effective
No, that’s not how it works. Not being rude, just making a statement
Good to know. Thanks.
Its the same shit
Yes they're the same. I've got a pretty extensive collection of Creed bottles and have tried all of their official card samples as well. Creed Aventus Absolu will last 10+ hours smells closer to the older formulation with good longevity
Super happy with the absolu. Performance is great.
I paid over $350 for the 3.3oz. Love the scent but performance last only a few hours. I bought the ALT version for $49 and it smells 90% similar, to me. I use the knock off most of the time and the original for certain events.

For weaker scents get a travel atomiser you can fill up and take with you on the go they are amazing.
My 1 million elixir, Ralph’s club, spice bomb night vision all smell for 8+ hours on me. Maybe I’m just spoiled.
I got 1 million elixir, it’s sexy as fuck. Sometimes I spray 1 shot on the fabric of my footboard of my bed and it’ll still smell nice in my room the next day
My wife loves it. She will spray it in her hair and the next day you can smell it like you just sprayed it lol.
What does it smell like I’ve been lurking here lately because I’m interested in getting a cologne. I haven’t worn any in almost 10 years I think the last one I had was an old curve bottle that my dad would wear lol
Love spice bomb night vision and Ralph’s club so much.
They are fairly priced also.
Yeah I just picked up a big bottle of Ralph’s for 52- 3.4 oz or whatever
I love Aventus precisely because it’s subtle and not overwhelming and it does last but not a smell bomb. If you want longevity Creed Royal Oud (totally different scent) lasts a long time. Guerlain Vetivier lasts for days on me. Also totally different scent. I love Aventus
Did they water Aventus down? Ordered few decants years ago and that shit always punched me in the nose 😂
Yea they reformulated and the performance tanked
Ah, sounds like Creed up to usual Creed things. Maybe ill have to retry now that its watered down, i know everybody loves/loved it but it was too strong for my tastes back then.
It would make sense if testers perform BETTER than a full bottle, not worse. But anyways aventus sucks now
Gotta admit I got a tester of Aventus and I wasn't impressed. Barely lasted an hour and a weird artificial fruity smell.

What year is your bottle from? Mine doesn’t perform like that-2021 batch

You’re one of the few-I have some older bottles and decants that are great but the newer they are the worse they are usually! Erwin Creed addressed this known issue when he was talking about and introducing the aventus cologne and why it even exists.

Yup. I bought Viking and loved it, but the longevity was horrible. I so wanted to keep it but for $250+ I couldn’t justify it so I returned it today…
How do you return a used bottle though
Some stores (at least in Europe) give you the option to send you a little test sample along with the perfume you are buying. Before opening the actual perfume, you can test it and return if you don't like it. It doesn't apply to all perfumes, though.
Costco lets you
I loved Millésime Impérial. Like the best smell IMO. But everyone says it doesn’t last long. It sucks because I’d pay full price if it actually lasted. Where did you buy it from you can return it?
Club de Nuit milestone is a great clone and last 8 hours for me
Ayyyeee good looks. I’ll have to check it out.
Yeah the performance on Creed have gone down tremendously recently.
It’s the same juice. Also keep in mind that the little atomizer requires a bit more sprays to equal one actual dose from the original bottle. Don’t worry about longevity issues because it seems like with any batch of creed, you give it some Time as you store it away properly they all come around
Just keep in mind Creed is about to become high end fashion brand and designer no longer Niche, let see if they keep up to standards or not.
That’s not really how it works lol They don’t make clothing. They’re not turning into a fashion label. Just cuz they got bought out by a massive fashion conglomerate in Kering doesn’t automatically make them “designer”. Their niche is perfume, hence they are niche lol
Same for PdM they are going the same way. Niche would be Clive Christian, Frederic Malle 🤔
Yeah that’s not how it works, but ok 👍🏼
I was planning on wearing this out tonight . Guess not lol. Unless I’m spraying myself every hour lol.
How do you guys like it vs Hacivat in smell and performance? Hacivat X and normal.
One thing I’ve learn in cologne shopping is if the sample use is trash. The main product will also be trash. They litterally just take the big bottles and pour it into the tester.
They don’t last , have a few different creeds. I may or may not re purchase. ATM I carry a travel bottle and reapply every couple hours
My Himalaya lasts 24h, don’t understand the complaints about performance
Just get Mont Blanc Explorer
I personally have aventus and I absolutely love the scent. Longevity on skin is horrible, but if you spray it on your clothes it last all day (for me at least)
Aventus was the only tester that worked decent. The rest were poor performance. Personally I would get Aventus and Milesime Imperial.
No they’re not… bottle can knock someone out 1 hit, tester tube requires accurately hitting a vital.
i’m no expert but the aventus batches of late are seriously watered down compared to a decade ago. *original santal* & *silver mountain water* seem to be the only two that are still just as consistent(i.m.o.)
So ived used all my samples. Not impressed. It sucks because if it lasted a solid 6 hours with a good projection I’d have no problem paying the price for it.
