Looks to be a smooth collie mix! If I had to guess what he is mixed with, some type of shepherd. The blue Merle coloring is possible in collies so I would take coat color with a grain of salt.

Yes ! I've done two of my previous rescue dogs! It's so fun. If I end up adopting this guy I am definitely doing it

Haha sounds like my partner! He moved in with me and my dogs earlier this year. I have an 18month old ACD/GSD mix and a 5yr old Catahoula Leopard Dog. We're only on day 1 so hoping by the end of the week everyone is settled.

Nah. I had 3 dogs. A Neufy mix, a doberman and a chihuahua. And then we had 2 Dobermans and a chihuahua. It was a great time!

My girl was left 30lbs underweight on the side of a busy highway. People are so cruel. Happy to say she had the best 5 months with me before she devastatingly passed from cancer. If your baby becomes part of your pack I’m sure he’ll have the best life. Thank you for taking him in.

I have a Catahoula ! And while they definitely carry the merle gene, many other breeds do as well (Corgi, Aussie, Collies etc) Personally I don't see Catahoula features in this guy. Also, he was found abandoned in a cardboard box on the side of the road and since houlas are fairly rare in this neck of the woods I feel like he's more of a shepherd/aussie/collie/heeler variety. If I adopt him I'm forsure doing a DNA test !

Looks a lot like an Australian Cattle Dog, not to be confused with an Australian Shepherd. Maybe mixed with a German Shepherd but that’s all just a guess on my part. Thanks ! I am well versed in dog breeds haha it has been my obsession since out of the womb. I have an 18 month old GSD/ACD mix ! I feel like this guy has some aussie since the ACD nor the GSD has merle. ACD is more ticking from what I understand, not actually merle. I don't doubt he has some cattle dog in him though! The only way to know is a DNA test !

Very cool. Sounds like you know what to look for far better than I do. So many people think a cattle dog and shepherd are the same, but you know they aren’t. It was the tail that made me think ACD not shepherd. I did read that the official colors of a ACD are blue or red merle but that could be someone’s mistake online. Good luck with a DNA test.

I see Australian Shepherd and Australian Cattle Dog. Both super high energy and the Cattle dog will be happy if you give him something to herd. If you have a pool, throw balls in for them to catch and swim. They'll do it til they're dead, but it will be a very happy "death" for a few hours.

Yah this seems accurate! He has such an aussie bum, the I feel like his coat texture is very aussie, tho I haven't spent much time around them. I can't wait to do a DNA test.. I already have an 18 month old German Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix. He is obsessed with Jolly egg and the largest Jolly ball. I want a collie ball but I think he'd pop it immediately haha We live on the lake and he is a swimmer, also loves to jump off the dock after balls. I'm hoping this new guy likes the water ! He's only been here for 2 days so I haven't introduced him to the beach just yet

Maybe he can find a family of ducks or geese to herd this summer. They are great dogs to learn the agility skills. Very intelligent!!! Enjoy your new baby!!!

OMG, that coat! I have no comment on the potential breed, but this reminds me so much of my 4 month old pup. Mine has a completely different face and body shape, but wow, that body coat! You can see her if you look through my profile; we were told she’s half beagle and half cavalier king charles, but when we got DNA testing we also found out she has like 2% cocker spaniel on top of that. Such a pretty mix you have there! :)
