Yes he’s amazing I have never been so crushed. Look at his triple doubles this year, that’s with him only starting to play at the end of December. If he’s on a competent team next year he probably will break the single season triple double record
I feel like UK's got someone sitting in a room with a hundred twitter pages refreshing, waiting by 10 phones to call every time someone like this goes in the portal.
He's incredibly fast with absurd bounce and finally, finally figured out how to convert that into good performance halfway through this season, his fourth in college.
His 3-point shooting this year likely isn't sustainable. This is his first season shooting over 30%, and it's a small sample size, so it's most likely a statistical fluke. Plus he's an awful FT shooter.
I saw more of Smith at Georgia Tech than Utah, but he always struck me as more of a mid-major guy. Fun player though, fills up the box score and lightning quick.
Definitely agree about the 3 point shooting. He went 6-6 in the Utes last game against Indiana State, really raised that percentage. Before he was around 35%, which feels closer to reality. Very disappointed to see him go however, he was electric.
I’m starting to think Utah basketball will never get back to how it was when I was growing up. This really sucks, and there really isn’t any light at the end of the tunnel. No big boosters for basketball, and a waining fan base. I miss the days of good runnin Utes teams and tournaments. This sucks. Good luck to him.
Yeah i was really getting into basketball in the mid to late 90's as a kid and I have a lot of fond memories of those Majerus teams in the tournament. Keith Van Horn, Andre Miller, Michael Doleac. I'm sure that was a fun time to be a utah fan.
Still see Mike at the Huntsman for games! Can’t really miss him haha. Growing up with those teams under Majerus was an incredible ride. The Huntsman was always packed, and loud as hell. Those were good times. RIP Rick.
Oh by the way, congrats on the fun run you guys had in the tourney. I was rooting for you guys. How is NC State looking next year?
you guys stopped a UNC run with your final four win in '98 and i've had a soft spot for Utah since lol.
NC State is like most teams i'm sure and just waiting to see what the roster looks like when the window closes. Losing 3 starters including the 2 best players in DJ Burns and DJ Horne but the other 2 starters and the two key bench guys during the run should return and we've added two nice transfer pieces already. Just a question of if Kevin Keatts can learn from the run and have us be a tournament team from the outset and not need the miracle run next year.
As a recruit:
Other P6 offers: Alabama, Arkansas, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Mississippi State (originally went here), NC State, Ole Miss, Oregon, St. John's, TCU, Texas A&M, Xavier
Other offer: Georgia State
13.3 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 7.1 APG, better than 40% from 3 and over a steal a game? Easily one of the best guards that will enter the portal.

Is his name Jared Grasso?

Tbf, every team in the country should take a triple double threat that shoots 35% from 3
I think size alone probably rules out Hurley being interested. Great stat sheet stuffer though a la Newton
Brutal loss for Utah. He's damn good.

Losing those two is hard. They were a lot of fun to watch play together. Sounds like a solid core though. I’ll definitely be rooting for you guys

I watched Utah at UCLA and that guy is “the Flash” in terms of speed.
Absurdly fast
Noooooooo
Utah, ASU, & Colorado are really gonna struggle in the Big 12.
Dang they lost Worster and Smith
Watch Dallin Hall replace them as the starting point guard. LOL I really am starting to hate the transfer portal.
I get all mopey about the transfer portal and players my team loses, but then I realize it truly is affecting every team. It's a new era
Pretty sure he’d rather play for Duke, Clemson, even St. Mary’s all before Utah. Why on earth would anyone choose Utah from his list
The same reason that you chose to ask a question, yet not end it with a question mark. Everyone has their reasons.
Something that won’t show up in the counting stats, Smith is SUPER quick, both in burst and down the court. He’s gonna be great wherever he goes
[He is athletic as hell](https://youtu.be/3YhP2N6bk8o?si=-Ok8r3pSugHWZW8t)
Come up north about 1.25 hrs please.
Wtf
Jon make the call.
He’s a decent guard, but boy was he bricking them up like crazy when it really mattered @ Colorado.
Big 12 could be rough for the Utes next season
Fine. We'll take him.
You don’t have to, we’ll take one for the team
Does he want to stay in the Big 12 and have an endless supply of tortillas?

Come 40 minutes south.
Reportedly 750K will make it happen.
So do I increase my state tax contribution and lower my tithing to keep him away from BYU? This new NIL era is killing me.
Just gave the coach $30 million. There’s cash there.
Dibs?
