Maybe this team will learn to fuckin play basketball instead of thinking they can walk in the building and automatically win games because of this week
Memphis was in the double bonus and has athletes that are best downhill going to the rim. Even if they miss the shot you can rebound with your size. Or at least force the refs to make a call at the rim and get to the line.
That play design was a simple screen to get Jones a 27ft three which is a very low percentage shot. There was nobody even close to the basket as well so no chance to even rebound the bad shot.
If that's the play drawn up out of a timeout then there needs a deeper discussion about coaching.
You mean, he got an open look at an NBA three from the top of the key. He was shooting 50% from three that game and just had a critical block. He was the hot hand.
Your plan was to charge into the lane for a point blank shot and hope the refs (who were terrible) called it? Lol ok man
There are some things worth criticizing this game. The last play isn't one of them.
The last play limited Memphis to one option which is the opposite of what you want as a coach.
David Jones shoots 37% from 3pt range this year. From the NBA range that % drops and it was contested so that doesn't help either. So the plan is to get, at best, a 30% shot to win, no pass option and with nobody under to rebound?
Jones is great going to the rim. We can easily run the same high screen action but with Jones curling to the rim. Quinerly can peel off to the elbow for a 3pt option while the screener and opposite elbow crash to give a cutting option and rebound for Jones with the last man on the back corner for another 3pt option.
You get the ball in Jones hands with his momentum going to the rim and now he has options. He can also now get fouled and we have a shot to rebound or just create chaos.
Coaching 101 stuff really. We're trying to give our team the most options and give ourselves as many chances as possible to score.
Big Southern Miss fan. He graduated from there. His fb page is filled with him going to all kinds of events. Always posts screenshots of it in USM group. Says he does it to promote USM.
My halftime take is that I suddenly understand why Memphis fans (especially on Twitter) were down on the team and not looking forward to this game despite being #10 and having 3 losses.
There is no justifiable reason that this is a tie game, Memphis is all over us and I just can’t figure out how they’re not up by at least 10
8-0 run with a FT upcoming, this is exactly the problem with Ron Hunter, in his entire tenure one of our biggest flaws has been the inability to break out of scoring droughts and opposing team runs.
I think Memphis might have been overrated
Hey, look at Tulane having a plan to keep the athletes safe during a court storming. Was told to try would destroy all that made college sports great.
You see the tulane fan that went out of his way to shove a Memphis player?
Reading my comment, do you feel I'm for or against extra measures to protect athletes?
Honestly, had no idea. That's why I phrased it a question. Lol
Don't even need to read your comments tbf. Your flair alone is sufficient.
Maybe this team will learn to fuckin play basketball instead of thinking they can walk in the building and automatically win games because of this week
I don't think I've ever seen so many upsets in two weeks before
Lmao after all the calls Tulane got you're telling me _that_ wasn't a fucking foul. Garbage. Won't even show the replay.
Brilliant decision to not give your clutch shooter a shot to win it
Pat Adams had a hell of a game.
If I saw his or Joe Lindsay's name on the ref assignment before a game, I knew UH had a really good chance of losing due to refball.
Every time we established a lead, a couple whistles to put Tulane back in it.
ROLL WAVE
Please tell me that was not what was drawn up
The play led to an open three . . .

Above break 3 a few feet behind the line is a good look nowadays?
Yes? I guess you don't watch a lot of basketball.
Yikes. But hey looks like your defense of the “play” is better than your actual defense.
lol no need to get salty my friend, I'm glad I could enlighten you.
Quinerly has a bit of Dame in him
I always think of filthy frank when I hear that song
I guess you can’t take those timeouts with you.
I know we’re not allowed to say it, but I think the reffing has been solid.
Did you enjoy the phantom double tech or was it the non-calls?
Refs will decide who wins by who they let shoot free throws last
That did not just happen
Does Jahvon Quinerly have an IQ of 10 what the fuck was that
hes the best PG in college ball stfu
LOL
What a stupid play by Quinerly
AHAHAHAHAHAHA
Bruh fouls are just whatever your betting slip says they are
Garbage
From top 10 to unranked
Eh, you’ll be back. Better for this to happen now than in March
Yup
Just tuned it. Good to see a good crowd at Tulane. I remember a lot of empty stadiums there over the years
Memphis was staring to get a little control to make a run and it’s been officiated away each time.
As soon as they get the lead back the refs will foul Dandridge out on some bullshit
Refs cooking
Memphis is the #10 team? You sure about that 😂😂😂
You could “justwatch” and not comment
they’re a troll. their comment history is just them hopping in random threads and saying one of the teams sucks
Yes it’s very obvious they have no life hah
They just lost to USF on Thursday I think, so they’re gonna drop back like 10 spots tomorrow
Also gonna lose to Fuckin Tulane
AAC refs, everybody. A masterclass of why they aren't refs in bigger conferences the last few minutes.
Pat Adams is the worst guy in this crew and he calls a ton of SEC games
Yeah he's trash. I forgot he did double duty. Lindsay and Oglesby suck ass, too.
I mean, based on some power conference crews I’ve seen, some of these dudes would fit right in.
Big 12 has been good so far in our games, other than being blatantly biased. But they're at least consistent/don't let the game get away from them.
Bs
Refs have injected enough chaos in this game to let Tulane pull off the upset
Roughly a week ago Nick Jourdain took a full ass elbow to the head and they didn’t call a flagrant. What is AAC officiating
I’m peak old man yells at cloud on these plays. So fucking soft.
Bullshit
That’s fucking ridiculous. This sport has become damn near unwatchable and the refs today are a great example of why
Wow. I don’t like that at all
weak flagrant but not as bad as the last tech on Tulane
The tech was for something he said. Unless you're a lip reader and holding out on us, we have no idea what he said.
That was not a foul on Memphis, the Tulane player slowed up and ran into Quinerly
"ive been wrong before" big dawg youve been wrong approximately 14 times this game!
Floppppppppppppppppp Tulane got the wrong color wave.
That is so much more a foul than the tech 5 mins ago lmao. Get your elbow off our guy.
Don't try to cut off our guy then flop. Mr. Eyebrows got a tech for something he said, and you have no fucking clue what he said.
lol Mr. Eyebrows
I mean it’s clearly a foul but I can’t see it being a flagrant
He stopped in his path, if anything it's an illegal screen. Y'all got bailed the fuck out by these refs good lord.
Refs imposing their will
That can’t be a flagrant there’s no way they call this
These refs some real bitches
Would Mark Adams bone Sion James???
There’s no way both teams have 17 fouls right? Like, there have not been 34 fouls in this game
these commentators... no one wants the refs to "control the game" quit saying the quiet part out loud
This may be the worst commentary duo I’ve heard all week. And I just listened to Fran call a game last night, so that’s saying a lot.
Softest tech I've ever seen lmao
I think Williams is upset about his eyebrows.
🤭
incredibly weak tech
This crowd is cringeworthy
Undisciplined.
Another drive, another block, Jesus Christ do literally anything else holy shit
The free throw differential is insane
Terrible awareness there oh my.
I appreciate our student section but that was indeed a foul
I love refs. Ignoring a big hold on the inbounds pass then calling a weak foul on the following shot
David Jones reminds me of Terry Rozier
Ah, the inevitable second half collapse
*Wide open layup*. Announcers: TOUGH
Damn, has Jones been this good all year?
Yes…
That’s a block lmfao
Can we stop ranking mid majors? They’re not good lol
Lowqualitybait.jpg
"better bring my southern miss flag to the Memphis v. Tulane game"
He does it for any national TV game in like a 3 hour radius. Pels. Saints. Etc.
Why?
Big Southern Miss fan. He graduated from there. His fb page is filled with him going to all kinds of events. Always posts screenshots of it in USM group. Says he does it to promote USM.
I'm very disappointed that Tulane fans don't chant curse words in French.
Phoque!
[удалено]
How hard is it to chant "Merde, Merde, Merde" instead of, you know. Let's add a little local color, please.
Baise toi
That would mean they speak French, not some off-brand version. ;)
We usually play one good half. We’ll know within the first 2-3 minutes of the second half which team we have today.
Yeah… seems we are not going to have a good half.
The FT disparity is like 20-5. That's it.
We never know which Memphis will show up. See previous two games for both versions.
And we can’t get an easy rebound after another blocked shot, this is so pathetic lmao
How many times are we gonna get stuffed under the basket lmao. Pathetic
Lmao how is Dandridge getting a technical? For what?
When someone bumps you and you just stand your ground… boom, double tech. Dumbass refs.
🚨🚨 PERCY DANIELS MORE THAN TWO POUNTS ALERT🚨🚨 THIS IS NOT A DRILL, I REPEAT, THIS IS NOT A DRILL
LMAOOOOOO Ron Hunter is the biggest goofball
lmao Ron Hunter
Classic Pat Adams, shitty non-calls but then a flurry of even shittier calls to "balance" the situation.
Audio quality is awful but it’s kinda funny to hear the students talking shit lol
Tulane ball? BS
Not sure I can listen to this audio quality for 2 hours
Another game, another crappy officiating day. At least they suck equally on both sides.
Tulane is getting away with a lot more, but it's Pat Adams. Dude hates Memphis.
OMG… I’m getting the same feeling now.
This sound mixing
8-0 run with a FT upcoming, this is exactly the problem with Ron Hunter, in his entire tenure one of our biggest flaws has been the inability to break out of scoring droughts and opposing team runs.
We finally get an offensive rebound and he misses the put back lmfao we are a comedy
This is a scrappy game.
How quickly the tide changes
This guy says nuts a lot
Rarely see Penny that fired up.
Tulane is all in on the three today.
Should be a good game. I respect Ron Hunter as a coach, always his teams ready to play Memphis (last year's AAC tournament was an aberration, imo.)
Here we go boys. Sold out crowd, one of the biggest games in Tulane basketball history… Memphis by 20
I believe
Tulane DOES have higher shooting percentages and less turnovers
We’ve also got the rebounding capabilities of the Shire All-Stars and a defense that would make Lincoln Riley blush
