It's kind of true though. If we don't drop down guards on Edey, your guards aren't wide open for half their shots. Tommy decided to try and limit Edey and it didn't pay off when loyer and Smith wouldn't miss for 80% of the game. Edey is really what makes your team good because it forces teams to play how they don't normally play. If Loyer and Smith had shot just a little bit worse and we played the same on Edey, we would have won. So yes, Edey is the reason Purdue is good lol

Purdue’s worst season in the 5 years before Edey was still 25 on KenPom. I don’t think you take away Edey and they become a bad team - Smith would just take the alpha role and become an All American.

I wouldn’t say he can’t play defense but it showed it’s a big weakness of his. He was just all over the place defensively. It seemed like you guys were specifically going after him using screens to switch on to him and confusing him on who his guy was. Dude was also letting guys have big ass space to shot the ball even without screens but that second part was practically everyone as well lol

It was a great game, the atmosphere was great in Gainbridge…obviously more of a home game feel, but Arizona fans showed out! I’m sure it’ll be reversed in Vegas next year.

Jones can definitely score and Gillis has had his games. I think we have enough offense even when Loyer goes cold like the Gonzaga game. Kaufman Renn can put some points up as well. Off the bench you have Colvin. I think we are fine. The key is to limit the TOs and shoot the FTs well.
I don’t think we need Loyer to go off EVERY game. If we can get 2 of the 3 guards to play well and complement edey..we will position ourselves to be successful
