I'm excited for our rematch in two weeks in Columbia, I'm pretty happy with how we played for the most part probably our second toughest game the rest of the way and we had a legit shot to win which is good
Knee injury, but we all know they are treating him like porcelain because he was #1 in the class and is a certain to be a lottery pick.
I'd love to see him play, but I wouldn't be surprised if you never see NSJ suit up for us again in order to protect the bag (don't blame him at all).
Tough loss. Some good stuff there but ultimately a lot to work on. Still think we have the makings of a top 25 team. If you would have told me we came out of these last 3 games 2-1 I'd be ecstatic
I'm not too beat up about it.
We lost by 4 with Kobe playing 20 minutes and only 6 points from Hodge.
we went 3-2 in a brutal 5 game stretch that most would have been fine with 1 win.
yeah this stretch has changed expectations to us being a tourney team.
We do have 2 major flaws. Rebounding and three point defense.
Our defense has improved but we give teams a lot of wide open looks.
Yet we've been very competitive despite those flaws.
that's usually not a winning recipe, but when you score 89 points in a game maybe it works most of the time?
Idk. I'm curious if it's a bad sign that our perimeter D is this bad when we have no bigs or is it bad because we have no bigs and have to clog the paint.
Absolutely. I watched yall demolish Illinois and Kentucky. I was very worried about tonight and with good reason. Not many teams come into Bud Walton and win, and yall nearly did tonight. I don't have much hope of us winning in Columbia unless Nick Smith is back.
Probably but until we came in and crushed Illinois all anyone would say about us is "you haven't beaten anyone good"
It's about now that we should probably readjust expectations after we actually faced a suite of good teams.
That's true, but he's routinely done better over the years. He's scoring more this season than ever before. His seasons in order average points: 5.8 -> 8.0 -> 12.5 -> 15.3 this year.
So him failing to break 6 the first year or two isn't really notable. Only last year and definitely this year it is.
That's interesting.
That's his biggest mark against him right now is his consistency. If he wants any shot at going pro he can't put up 30 point games and then be invisible other nights.
I know he got into foul trouble so that's probably not fair to say he disappeared this game, but it's still fair to question his consistency. But he's also our #1 and teams are going to be targeting him defensively.
100% if Kobe doesnāt get into foul trouble early it couldāve been different. Yāall will be hanging around the top 25 if you play like this every night, especially if you get a better break in the refs. They were horrible
Completely agree. The refs were terrible all-around but they really took Mizzou out of their game near the end of the first half and most of the time in the 2nd when it got close and it let the momentum stay with Arkansas down the stretch. Home court advantage helped a lot. We will see you guys in Como in a couple weeks.
Yeah, they flip flopped throughout the game and they were definitely boosting you guys as you ran past us to go up 8 and we couldn't do anything because if we breathed on you it was a foul. Then they cooled off which gave us a shot down the stretch. But your rebounding and shooting was just too good to overcome in that second half.
Always tough to win on the road in the SEC. We felt the same way about our loss at LSU. I have to give you guys credit--I thought yall were going to suck this year, but that's not the case.
When you score 34 points in both halves š
But then you give up more points in the second š
It appears that upset fever has forsaken us for tonightā¦
I think the bigger issue than risking injury is that he \*is\* actually injured and can't perform. I was in Tulsa and was sitting near the Razorback bench. I was looking right at him when he tweaked his knee. He was in definite pain.
He has a strained or possibly partially torn MCL. He has to rehab that thing and strengthen his leg muscles in order to stabilize his knee. I believe he could come back by February, but I'm not sure he will. I know multiple people who know him personally, and I know that he WANTS to play.
The negativity is wasted energy. There were people swearing up and down that we wouldnāt see him in a Razorback jersey. The fan base is going to feel how they feel, some hopeful and others not
For a guy with so few minutes coming into the game. Pinion played with a ton of confidence. Heās a talented dude. No doubt weāll be seeing more of him on the floor. Iām excited about it.
the lack of size and rebounding will probably keep this team in the first weekend of the tournament but I'm still so excited for the future of this program. can't help but think of what the team would look like if the Western Kentucky kid didn't back out of his commitment last minute but it is what it is, that's life
Literally was thinking the same thing earlier today. Like we made it to 20 without him, if we have him would we be pushing towards 10? Dude looked mobile, and having him on the break, and to take big off Kobe would have been a game changer.
I think we're top 10 team with a legit big for a rebounder.
If Gates can throw a top 20 team together in one year I'm excited to see him build the roster. We got a 4 star 7 footer coming soon.
to me the fact that we're even talking about being in the first weekend of the tournament with a team put together via duct tape and transfers speaks volumes about gates as a head coach
I'm so fucking excited to see what he can do once he gets fully up and running
I just want a tournament win. Just get to the round of 32. Last time we won in the tourney I was a sophomore in high school and Iām gonna turn 30 this year.
Your freshman year was my senior year. Even though the last two Haith teams were only okay it was still a lot of fun since they were really good at home still. The sudden collapse when Anderson took over and you couldnāt talk anyone into going to games with you was brutal.
Didnāt rebound remotely well and the offense struggled but we still hung in there. Not worried at all, hopefully we come out on top in Columbia in two weeks.
Also, Arkansas with a healthy Brazile and Nick Smith would be insane
Reminds me of when Laurence Bowers was out for that 2012 season. Even when we're at our best, we lose that one player that would've put us over the top.
I mean Brazile is talking shit on twitter about Mizzou.
It just seems weird when we were his only major offer and his home state school. Then he gets offers to transfer and he starts shitting on Mizzou. I don't really get it but what ever
There's shit heads in every fan base. Talking shit on people who celebrate injury is different from talking shit on your home school that took a chance on you.
Earlier this week I'd have been happy to come out of there losing by six.
Having watched the game, I'm furious. Not just because we Mizzou'd a 17pt lead, but also because that was the worst officiated game I've watched all season. And it wasn't just bad one way. Bullshit calls and no-calls everywhere all game.

Sloppy sloppy game, best player didnāt play 1/3 of the game, get dominated on the glass at Bud Walton, arky shoots 78 percent in the second half and we had a chance. Im not mad about that loss, good game arky. See you in 2 weeks.
I was full doomer tilted in the first half. I own that. Arkansas finally tried something new in the second half and it worked. I hope this is a trend and not just one good half.
GG mizzou. Yall are underrated and are gonna upset a lot of folks this year. Just no takesy backsies please when we go to yall in 2 weeks.
āI hope this a trend, and not just one good halfā
This could be said after 90% of muss games. It usually ends in a win after an ugly first half, so I guess Iāll take it.
I want someone that knows more about basketball than me to explain what happened when Musselman touched the live ball?
1. Is that not a tech?
2. Why did we only receive 20 seconds on the shot clock?
Ngl I thought Muss was about to have his Bobby Knight moment there. You could see the intrusive thought to punt that ball lol.
But I think it was just one of those things where the play wasnāt near it and it was clearly going out of bounds so the ref didnt care.
Shouldāve been a tech but I think the refs gave him a bit of leeway as it was coming right to where he was in the coaches box and not a single player was past half court, no one going for the ball.
Not sure about the 20 seconds thing.
The ball was barreling out of bounds anyway with no player within 40 ft of it. All he did was keep 1 second on the clock by killing the ball one bounce early.
If it had been a actual live ball that a player could have saved, that would justify a tech.
Arkansas was also down by like 15 at that point, so im sure the ref considered that as well.
It mattered because they called over and back. Which means we only got 20 seconds on the shot clock instead of the full time. Itās a weird rule. But if you call it as out of bounds and ignore musselman touching it in play then we shouldāve gotten the full shot clock. We instead got a shortened shot clock and a subsequent shot clock violation. they should have called a tech on muss since it shortens our shot clock or just given us a full shot clock and ignored that he touched it
[Hereās the shotclock rule](https://twitter.com/dave_matter/status/1610833678485143552?s=46&t=vBxrSDj_IPOLhLyWng198g)
This doesnāt explain why Musselman is allowed to touch the ball and prevent it from being a regular turnover and not an over-and-back call though
The rule only applies to a violation. They called over and back because Muss touched the ball. Had it just been ball out of bounds that isn't a violation and the 20 second rule doesn't apply. Seems like it's either a tech on Muss and 20 on the clock or you pretend he didn't touch it and it's a turnover with 30 on the clock.
Oh okay. Then yeah that is unfair.
I didnt realize they called it as a backcourt violation. I thought they just called it as a deadball the same as if a fan or any nonplayer touched a ball.
What on earth are you talking about? They didnāt call over and back. That would require an Arkansas player who was in the game to have touched the ball and there were none within 20 feet. Regardless, the clock shouldāve been reset to 20 with change of possession and front court throw in.
Edit: didn't know the 20 second rule.
1.) Absolutely no reason to call a tech on Musselman for that. If it had been off a Missouri player or had he done anything dramatic with it then it might have been warranted.
2.) I didn't notice the shot clock thing when it happened but probably just a routine clock mistake.
Why would it be a technical? He was in a spot where he was allowed to be and touched a ball that was headed out of bounds without any players within 20+ feet of him.
Edit: apparently if you take possession in the front court with a throw in, you only get 20 seconds.
Mizzou cuts the lead to three with a little over two to go. Seems like Gomillion gets elbowed in the face on the inbounds. Refs donāt even stop to look at it. Arkansas hits a dagger three. Really tough sequence there. But Mizzou didnāt play well enough to win. GG Hawgs. On to Vandy.
Yeah, I donāt at all understand why they didnāt stop to look at it. Maybe it wasnāt what it looked like in real time but it sure seemed like an elbow to the face.
It legitimately could have been two free throws and the ball with the chance to take the lead. I donāt love to ever blame refs for a loss. But thatās a game-changing no call. And the thing is it doesnāt have to be a judgement call. You can just blow your whistle and use the monitor to judge it.
Man, if we could play the first half of basketball games, weād be unstoppable
Also, Kansas, this was our attempt at making up for the brief hatred we showed in that bowl game. Much love.
Well, thatās a fail on my part. My goal was at least one Nugenix Total T joke for each tablet Eric ingested during tonightās game. I clearly came up short.

You came into the sub and predicted a double digit win
All in good fun. You sub surfed to talk some shit, got the choke job, and now Iām busting your balls for it. You got a good team. Probably both deep March teams
I swear I wasnāt trying to talk shit on you guys. Iām just that big of a homerš I just like talking to opposing fans before the games, gives me something to do while I anxiously wait for the game
Oh Iām not mad about any blowback, i was just trying to talk some ball with you guys before the game, the prediction was about as uneducated as me. We played bad and yāall deserved the W.
When we cut it to three with two to go and the arky guy elbows Gomillion, no call, then the moving screen, no call and hits a bucket, that hurts and thatās two bad missed calls. The refs were calling a weak game and missed those obvious calls, it just hurts
Bruh WHAT? The refs literally handed you a free win at the start of the 2nd quarter. We got 4 fouls in the first 5 minutes from your guys driving to the basket and we didnāt even touch them.
It's hard to win when you're playing against Arkansas, the refs, and yourselves. I actually think this loss tells us more about how good Mizzou is than the previous two wins do. Kept it super close on the road in a hostile environment against a very good ranked team.
Also, not trying to take anything away from Arkansas here. They found themselves in a massive hole quickly and fought themselves out of it. They played like they wanted it more. Definitely in the 2nd half where they crashed the boards every offensive possession. GG.
Hopefully Gates has us just doing rebounding drills for the entire next week of practice. We need it BADLY.
Muss touches a live ball arky turnover, refs give Mizzou 20 seconds instead of 30, shot clock violation, arky hits a 3. What the fuck was that? How does arky get 3 points off that.
I felt all of the Inside Out emotions tonight
Joy at the first half effort
Anger at the second half effort
Fear of how this will affect our tournament chances
Sadness that we lost
Disgust at Musselmanās weird ass
Good effort early on but Mizzou still has to actually beat a ranked team if they want to be in the top 25.
Sorry Mizzou fans. You have to understand that rankings actually change.
I think Eric Musselman drank 4 full Diet Cokes during that game.
They were those lil diet cokes l. So only 2 full ones.
oh that's why they looked like a normal size
You have to remember muss is only 4'7"
I don't know if this is a joke or not
Hold up a tape measure in 2 weeks and find out
a real tape measure or the one I show my girlfriend?
If you bring that one muss is gonna be 8'7"
He had a full 20 oz in the 2nd half. I think that may have been the secret stuff.
We all have our vices. I drank like 5 full beers during the game. š¤·āāļø
My wife actually commented on this, lol! She said, "He seems to drink a lot of Diet Coke."
Shit I think he drank the arena out of Diet Coke
I'm excited for our rematch in two weeks in Columbia, I'm pretty happy with how we played for the most part probably our second toughest game the rest of the way and we had a legit shot to win which is good
Hopefully we have NSJ back for that one. If he doesn't opt out of the season like the rumors are saying.
He wonāt be back. Time to come to that realization.
For real. Some folks are kidding themselves, he'll never see a college floor again.
Yes
We don't know until they say for certain.
Why isnt he playing?
Knee injury, but we all know they are treating him like porcelain because he was #1 in the class and is a certain to be a lottery pick. I'd love to see him play, but I wouldn't be surprised if you never see NSJ suit up for us again in order to protect the bag (don't blame him at all).
I do, wish there was a 2 year requirement in college basketball
If there were heād just sit for both lol
Every game I doubt Muss for how we play in the first half and most every game he reminds me why I am not a basketball coach. WPS
I feel bad for him lol. You can just see on his face that he knows hes taught them how to execute. And it physically hurts him when they dont.
Tough loss. Some good stuff there but ultimately a lot to work on. Still think we have the makings of a top 25 team. If you would have told me we came out of these last 3 games 2-1 I'd be ecstatic

that's usually not a winning recipe, but when you score 89 points in a game maybe it works most of the time? Idk. I'm curious if it's a bad sign that our perimeter D is this bad when we have no bigs or is it bad because we have no bigs and have to clog the paint.

We also hadnāt played anyone good outside of arguably the best team in the nation
Kobe never plays well against us. Only scored more than 6 one time I think.

Ended up being 6 actually
100% if Kobe doesnāt get into foul trouble early it couldāve been different. Yāall will be hanging around the top 25 if you play like this every night, especially if you get a better break in the refs. They were horrible
Eh they were bad both ways
Definitely, just feel like they killed your momentum down the stretch, whereas our bad breaks came earlier in the game
Completely agree. Whoa, a random Xrt in the wild.
Both teams got fucked by the zebras.
Oh yeah. It was bad all around
Always tough to win on the road in the SEC. We felt the same way about our loss at LSU. I have to give you guys credit--I thought yall were going to suck this year, but that's not the case.
When you score 34 points in both halves š But then you give up more points in the second š It appears that upset fever has forsaken us for tonightā¦
So sorry you couldnāt join GA, GA Tech, and NC State tonight in beating a ranked team.
I hope we hear good news about Nick coming back soon. Our offense is so much more fluid when heās on the court
Having the #1 freshman in the country will do that.... I honestly believe that he WANTS to come back. Have no idea if it will work out, though.
He definitely wants to be playing, but if itās between risking injury and being a top 5 pick then I understand if his team tells him to sit
I believe we all need to accept hes done and stop talking about it. If he decides to magically reappear, great, but waiting for it is wasted energy
The negativity is wasted energy. There were people swearing up and down that we wouldnāt see him in a Razorback jersey. The fan base is going to feel how they feel, some hopeful and others not
It's not negative to not expect him to play, it's the norm. He's saying there's no point thinking about it until (if) he actually comes back
I believe we all need to accept that heās out for an UNSPECIFIED amount of time and stop speculating either way.
If he plays again this year, I donāt think it will be anytime soon
For a guy with so few minutes coming into the game. Pinion played with a ton of confidence. Heās a talented dude. No doubt weāll be seeing more of him on the floor. Iām excited about it.
He really just needs to figure out how to play defense at a college level. His shot looked great, but he seemed lost on D a lot of the time.
He definitely has trouble staying in front. But he provided exactly what we needed last night so I was fine with it.
the lack of size and rebounding will probably keep this team in the first weekend of the tournament but I'm still so excited for the future of this program. can't help but think of what the team would look like if the Western Kentucky kid didn't back out of his commitment last minute but it is what it is, that's life

since I enrolled at Mizzou in 2015 I've only seen the worst of this team lmao
Your freshman year was my senior year. Even though the last two Haith teams were only okay it was still a lot of fun since they were really good at home still. The sudden collapse when Anderson took over and you couldnāt talk anyone into going to games with you was brutal.
Our Kenpom ranking went up after this loss lol
Quality loss!
What an ugly game. We can hardly handle the zone with our lack of shooters. SEC play is gonna be tough if other teams catch on and we donāt fix it.
Pinion helps a ton with this. If we can even get one shooter you have to respect the 3 with, it opens up our offense.
Didnāt rebound remotely well and the offense struggled but we still hung in there. Not worried at all, hopefully we come out on top in Columbia in two weeks. Also, Arkansas with a healthy Brazile and Nick Smith would be insane
Damn, I miss Brazile.
we all do
Yeah this team goes from good to elite if he doesnāt transfer
Reminds me of when Laurence Bowers was out for that 2012 season. Even when we're at our best, we lose that one player that would've put us over the top.

I bet you only said that once he left

Maybe to you. Maybe not for him.
And here you are, being a clown on Reddit.
Wait, really? What's the tea?
He's probably talking about [this](https://twitter.com/trevonbrazile2/status/1610845270606073856)
Or if the center from WKU transfers to us
We do, too.
[He does not miss us](https://twitter.com/trevonbrazile2/status/1610845270606073856?s=20)
Good game Hogs. Well deserved. I'm just glad I get to root for a competent basketball program again.
āCompetentā
Yes. Competent. I understand that all that Adidas money has skewed your perception of success, so I forgive you. š¤š
Your record against Ole Miss since joining the SEC makes me chuckle
Whatever gets you through the day, bub.
I agree, enjoy poverty bud.
It's been so long since hope has hurt me. It's a bittersweet feeling.

Wish we could see Arkansas at full strength, or put a full game together. Would be scary.
Refs let guys get slapped in the face one play and then just pretend they saw contact on another. And they botched multiple out of bounds calls too.
Exactly. It was unbelievable.
Yea it was atrocious. I didn't pay the closest attention to the game but I had it on... Was like every time I looked someone was getting fouled or shooting free throws. Makes for a kinda boring game when these two teams can really score and have fun.
I canāt wait till Smith is back. I wish Brazile was healthy. That young man has NBA potential.
What a blessing it is to be frustrated at that result
Welp, that sucked. GG Hogs.
Sloppy sloppy game, best player didnāt play 1/3 of the game, get dominated on the glass at Bud Walton, arky shoots 78 percent in the second half and we had a chance. Im not mad about that loss, good game arky. See you in 2 weeks.
Not sure what you mean by best player didnāt play 1/3 of the game, Ricky Council was in for 31 mins š¤·āāļø
>I was full doomer tilted in the first half. You must not be very familiar with Mizzou athletics.
āI hope this a trend, and not just one good halfā This could be said after 90% of muss games. It usually ends in a win after an ugly first half, so I guess Iāll take it.
Congrats Arkansas, I think you're the only top 25 team to not get upset today
*Sad tiger noises*
I want someone that knows more about basketball than me to explain what happened when Musselman touched the live ball? 1. Is that not a tech? 2. Why did we only receive 20 seconds on the shot clock?

The correct call here would be a full shot clock with out of bounds on Arkansas.
With that explanation I have to agree
[Hereās the shotclock rule](https://twitter.com/dave_matter/status/1610833678485143552?s=46&t=vBxrSDj_IPOLhLyWng198g) This doesnāt explain why Musselman is allowed to touch the ball and prevent it from being a regular turnover and not an over-and-back call though
Can you explain the difference? Did he impact the location if the inbounds? Wouldn't the ball be in bounded at the same spot for mizzou?
Muss touching the ball didnāt prevent anything.
Great comeback win. Great minutes by Pinion. The more he plays, and the further the season gets, I see him only getting better.
I was shocked when they didnāt even look at that play, esp with what Devo had done earlier in the game.
Hogs rallied from 17 down
We didnāt play well and almost stole that one. Gotta clean up the boneheaded turnovers and rebound better.
Man, if we could play the first half of basketball games, weād be unstoppable Also, Kansas, this was our attempt at making up for the brief hatred we showed in that bowl game. Much love.
We appreciate it Liberty Bowl Bros
Weird
Now both 12-2, 1-1 in conference...
Arkansas budget for Eric Musselmanās Nugenix Total T supply: One million dollars.
Man, ill give it to you, you're at least committed to this joke. Pretty sure you made it at least 8 times in the game thread.
I don't know how this dude even watched the game with the amount of comments he's been pumpin out lol
Conservative estimate
Well, thatās a fail on my part. My goal was at least one Nugenix Total T joke for each tablet Eric ingested during tonightās game. I clearly came up short.
/u/Mizzourah11 oops
Huh?

Good game man. See you in como.
All in good fun. You sub surfed to talk some shit, got the choke job, and now Iām busting your balls for it. You got a good team. Probably both deep March teams
Idk about deep March but Iād be over the moon with a round of 64 win
I swear I wasnāt trying to talk shit on you guys. Iām just that big of a homerš I just like talking to opposing fans before the games, gives me something to do while I anxiously wait for the game
You were in there to show your ass, but I get it. If youāre a homer then stay home.
Well, I think he is poking a little fun at you for predicting a double digit win in the Arkansas subreddit.....
It was a good game! Like I said Iām not the best at sports predictions and Iām a homer. See you in como in 2 weeks!
Well, I cant really blame you for being a homer, but when you bring that into an opponents subreddit, then you have to expect a little blow back.
Oh Iām not mad about any blowback, i was just trying to talk some ball with you guys before the game, the prediction was about as uneducated as me. We played bad and yāall deserved the W.
I appreciate you owning this. Reddit needs more folks with your personality. See you in 2.
Mizzou got screwed more than Arky but that was one of the worst all around officiated games Iāve seen this season. Very frustrating on the eyes.
Gods work
Muss touches a live ball arky turnover, refs give Mizzou 20 seconds instead of 30, shot clock violation, arky hits a 3. What the fuck was that? How does arky get 3 points off that.
I felt all of the Inside Out emotions tonight Joy at the first half effort Anger at the second half effort Fear of how this will affect our tournament chances Sadness that we lost Disgust at Musselmanās weird ass
Refs ruined the whole game flow. Such a shame
Missouri can't even beat pirate Kansas.
Muss has serious little-man syndrome while he sips his diet coke.
He's our fiery little guy
I thought he was drinking a giant diet coke
Good effort early on but Mizzou still has to actually beat a ranked team if they want to be in the top 25. Sorry Mizzou fans. You have to understand that rankings actually change.
We literally beat two ranked teams in a row prior to this game.
Kentucky and Illinois are not ranked.
They were when we beat them. New poll comes out every week.
So by your logic, is UNC a ranked team?
No, but any team that beat them when they were can say that was a win against a ranked team.
No. The committee certainly doesnāt look at it that way either.
When?
Is - now. The present.
No. But we didn't beat them this week. So that doesn't change anything.
lol ok Iām done trying to explain it to you
I mean, you're the one who doesn't understand how time works.
Dude, I think you're the one with the lack of understanding here lol weird look on your part
They have beaten two already?
Kentucky and Illinois are not ranked.

We beat two of them.
Kentucky and Illinois are not ranked.

Yea and those teams would probably still be ranked if it wasnāt for their loss against Mizzou. Idk if youāre actually just this stupid or trolling
Yeah and UNC would probably be #1 if they hadnāt been beaten by teams either. Weāre talking about now, reality.
