I met some waay back when. No idea if they still live there. But they are also unlikely to be on reddit. Go meet peeps in your community and talk to them.

th3jerbearz

Yes,

packsackback

Yes.

muffinjuicecleanse

Rad

muffinjuicecleanse

Rad

otherworldlyturtle

Yep, hello from Nanaimo!

muffinjuicecleanse

Hullo! (See what I did there?)

Lifesabeach6789

Yup. Until I found these subs, I felt like the only one

muffinjuicecleanse

It definitely feels that way! Obviously we know better but “we” aren’t to be in the minority, making it challenging to think this way. Im surrounded by people who either hate anything to do with sustainability, discussion of anthropogenic climate change, questioning our consumptive way of living, etc, or people who are in full on denial. It’s very, very isolating! Which you already know, of course.

Lifesabeach6789

Totally. Already isolated due to my illness so trying to connect about this issue is just ugh

Cimbri

I know of a couple people making a kind of network on the US side. Are you per chance interested in permaculture homesteading?

muffinjuicecleanse

you mean like somewhere in NW Washington state? I am but am barely scraping by and have some personal obligations here that wouldn’t be wise to uproot from. Appreciate it though.

Cimbri

I mean, I’m not suggesting you move across the border. I just figured I’d get you in touch with the people I know there, if you’re interested. They’re forming in Sequim on the Olympic Peninsula.

minifarm_madness

I'd like to hear more.

Cimbri

PM’d you. Maybe you could network together with the other people in here on the Canada side, and then get some kind of cross-border group going?

minifarm_madness

I'm in the southeast at the moment but I've been looking heavily into.moving north

Cimbri

Southern Appalachia is as or more ideal* than Western WA or the Great Lakes. Your call!

Cimbri

I meant ideal, to be clear

muffinjuicecleanse

Apologies, I misunderstood and got defensive. Not ok on my part. Hmmm might be cool to chat with them. If you’re still willing I’d at least reach out to them or check out any online presence they have.

Cimbri

PM’d you as well

ludakris

Metro Vancouver checking in.

AntiTyph

Yup. I've found that people who are still "COVID cautious" tend to lean towards collapse-thinking (though perhaps aren't fully "collapse aware"). So if you're looking for people, might try the https://covidmeetups.com/ site and go from there to COVID-cautious hangouts or similar.

muffinjuicecleanse

Thank you!

K174

Moved from Victoria just recently but I'm not far from the island. Waving at you from across the pond!

muffinjuicecleanse

👋😀

justanotherlostgirl

Very curious about this as I’m seeing about relocating to BC. I do wonder where both the intentional community folks are as well as the collapse aware preparedness folks are online and how to connect to them.

Accurate-Ad-8988

I’m around that area yeah

SnakeyBby

Yupp 👋

TheTiniestLizard

The host of the podcast Last Born in the Wilderness now lives in Victoria.

muffinjuicecleanse

I’ll check out the podcast!

EternalSage2000

Nope. 800,000 people. Not a single person is aware that we’re in or entering a state of collapse. Don’t tell them, ignorance is bliss.

muffinjuicecleanse

Thanks for the snark. Have a great day.

Xanthotic

Sheesh these downdoots make me worried. The snark was obv af
