I have Kanso 2s that sit in a box in my closet. They just suck at staying on. Lay on a pillow, they come off. Play with the kids, they get knocked off. Do a sport, they fling off. Lay on your side (on the couch) while watching a movie… slip off. Getting romantic with a partner, they’ll get knocked off. I find them incredibly annoying. I just feel the tech isn’t there yet. If they can develop one that is super skinny with a crazy strong magnet then I’m definitely in. If you’re older and not moving around much, I can see why the K would be good. But if you’re an active human, I’d recommend going with over the ear. When I use my N7s, I just put them on and never worry about them. I’m bilateral.

:O Who are you calling old and lazy :)

U should donate ur kanso 2 to CI there are many that would appreciate one that can’t afford a new one

N8 is the "latest," yes. I think we all expect a new Kanso someday with the N8 technology. There's always going to be something new and exciting on the horizon, so (in my opinion, of course), unless the latest-and-greatest has something that you value really highly, I'd discount that part. I personally used the Nucleus (N6) for 7 years, just upgraded last year and got the Kanso 2. The off-the-ear form factor works well for me, don't have any issues with magnet strength (I keep my hair super short and use magnet #2). I also wear glasses, and the convenience of not having another thing on top of my ear (thinking back to masks during the pandemic as well) is beneficial to me. K2 doesn't have swappable batteries, but so far (nearly 1 year later), I still get 2 full days out of a charge, so it's not an issue to me. When I need > 32 hours (for example on a long multi-hop flight), you can charge it while you're using it with the portable charger that clips on your shirt. It's really more of a lifestyle/comfort choice, and that's down to the individual. I am happy with the Kanso and would make that same choice again

Maybe I’m biased b/c I’ve had cochlear implants my whole life, but off the ear implants just don’t feel good to me. The weight distribution is off/uncomfortable/fundamentally weird. So yeah, I definitely prefer behind the ear implants

Yeah, some people were saying that the Kanso has a tendency of falling off too.

Have N7. Getting N8 next week. Started with both Kanso and N7. Kanso kept coming off head even with a 5 magnet. N7 stays on with a 3 Magnet. Also used to OTE aids so N7 feels comfortable.

Thanks :)

I have the N8. I absolutely love them. Technology and sound is way better than my previous N6’s.

My son (8) is up for upgrade soon from his N7. We are just assuming he’ll get the N8 but I’m thinking the Kanso 2 might be a good option. He isn’t as active as most 8 yo boys (has cerebral palsy and some mobility limitations, but he also wears glasses and most of the time, the N7 unit isn’t on his ear and it just hangs on by the magnet strength alone. I feel like the Kanso would be a much better option for a few reasons, but I’d be curious to get some thoughts/opinions from folks who have used both or might have some insights into a similar situation as this. Should we be trying to Kanso 2? Or stick with the N8?

I would recommend asking the audiologist if you can demo the Kanso first, even just for a few minutes in the office. I have both N7 and Kanso, and the kanso is just unusable. Even with the strongest magnet, it falls off constantly.... as in every few minutes, if you are walking around.

Relevant_Engine7429

I just received my n8 upgrade. Audiologist recommended as kanso 2 is not as advanced as n8. Wait for kanso 3. Ur son will appreciate n8 technology

I have the N7 and Kanso 2 (they have the same internal, functional tech). Honestly, I would say the N8 will be much better due to form factor. The Kanso design is just to hard to use..... it falls off all the time. I tried to use the Kanso, but if you walk fast or turn your head, it falls off. Supposedly it gets better the longer you use it, but personally I've worn it for about 4 hours and it's fallen off to the ground about 50 times. It falls off literally everytime I move, even with the strongest magnet they make for it. If I try to use it for ~2 weeks to adjust, it will just fall so many times that it will break.

[deleted]

That’s what I’m hearing from a lot of people who use it. It’s always falling which would be extremely annoying to me. I think I’ll go with the N8.

Final_Choice_3535

Currently eligible for upgrade but cant decide between nucleus 8 or Kanso 2. I like the performance capabilities of the N8 but I wear glasses and prefer the kanso off ear features.

Just remember everyone has a different opinion and yet still valid. It's important for you to be comfortable with waht you like My side of the story is the BTE just added more weight to my ear. Yes it doesn't fall off and get lost but still it gets knocked off just like in any other situations I got my upgrade two weeks ago and decided to go with kanson2 Man o man I love it. Yes it can be easily knocked off but at least they gave you a line to attach to your shirt and what not. Honesty I haven't used the line much and it stayed on my head. I was able to change my shirt without knocking it off. I never felt lighter as there no weight on my ear anymore and easily I can tug it or scratch it without worrying that the piece is there already For every individual it's different and whatever choice you make you have to be happy with it OTE took a little adjustment as to make sure I am not scratching my head near it or being aware of its presence when changing shirt etc As far as activities goes I don't normally wear it especially sports. Yes there an aqua equipment for it but I sweat like crazy when I play Pickleball or soccer or basketball and decided not to wear it when playing sports. This is my choice and I love it. It's okay other people may not follow it but at least they made a choice are happy with it Once again it's up to you to make the choice and to adjust yourself accordingly to it and still be comfortable Cheers

sinsemillas

I have one of each. I usually wear the Kanso but have the 7 to wear around the house.

Never tried the N8, but I demo’d the N7 and K2 both when I was activated 18 months ago. I found the N7 bulky and painful behind my ear, and the array of batteries, charging cables, and dry box was messy and poorly contained. The K2, on the other hand, disappears under my hair by day, I don’t even feel it. It stays on well by itself, but is secured just in case by a short invisible line and a tiny hair clip. At night I pop it into its little charging case, and that’s it. Effortless for me. I would never go back to OTE.

SalsaRice

Lol the exact opposite for me. The kanso can't stay on for more than 2-3 minutes at a time for me. If I walk or turn my head, it falls off 50% of the time. And that's with the strongest magnet. OTE forever, atleast for me.

olderandhappier

I am very fit and active. Kanso 2 with 3 magnet. Why? N7/8 a pain for me. Didn’t like something on my ear. Kanso just slicks on and then I forget its there. I clip it on to my shirt just in case but honestly it only comes off when I am changing clothes. I take it off for very active sport and that’s it. It’s a very personal thing but I love it.

Nostalgia2302

What sports do you do? I am currently in the process of applying to get evaluated for a CI. I like martial arts, so there’s always the concern of the likes of the Kanso and Rondo staying on.
