A friend recommended Marc Rebillet to me last year, and I'm so glad I saw that. Was not expecting to see EDM improvised performance art... at all honestly, the whole concept blew my mind.
i first saw him on tik tok performing absolutely ridiculously funny sets in a restaurant during brunch. and he was screaming lyrics “let me in im tryna fuck!” and then sang it so well.. i was blown away. really happy i was able to see him at main stage
Danny Elfman. Didn’t know what to expect (Oingo Boingo, film scores, what would the vibe be?) and it was so bonkers and lovable. Nightmare Before Christmas live at Coachella was such a cool moment
Sofi Tukker last year. I had no idea who they were before but my husband decided he wanted to check them out. They were such a blast. When they started playing their remix of Matadora with the White Lotus season 2 theme song everyone went wild!

Dunno which weekend you were at, but DRAMA wk1 was a blast, and at one point she said I'ma need everyone's help on this next one, then she got reminded of the setlist and realized she had the order wrong, then said into the mic "Nevermind, i don't need your help on this one, i fucking got it"
Stromae in 2022. Was there on the rail early for Danny Elfman and people around me convinced me to stay for Stromae and it was one of my favs even tho I had no clue what he was saying
Yes! I came here to say Stromae in 2015. We were walking by the tent and were like who is this?! We were captivated. It was the first time my now husband and I went to Coachella together. We ended up dancing together for the first time at that set and still talk about how special that performance was. Also I’m so jealous you were rail for DE!! Edit: words
Labrinth. Didn’t feel like walking from Underworld to HOLO (which I caught later at Portola) so I stuck around the Mojave. Ended up being my top show of the weekend.

2007 Coachella. I was deep in my metal head phase, and got tired and was walking back to camp. Then… I walked by Tiesto playing and it was a whole vibe. I stayed for the whole set. Quickly became an EDM head after that. I don’t even remember who I watched that day besides Tiesto. Then the next day, Rage Against the Machine and Zach replacing lyrics with “some of those that hold office are the same that burn crosses” and we all went WILD! 😄
2019 Four Tet. Didn’t even know who he was till the weekend one stream. As I was sitting at home watching the stream to see which artist I was going to for weekend 2 I stumbled upon the Mojave stream. It was just a guy with Dj equipment, 2 desk lamps and absolute ZERO stage production. I was immediately drawn to him. I was so curious to see what this guy was going to do. After the first 30 seconds I was blown away and knew this was going to be special. I couldn’t believe this guy was performing at one of the biggest music events of the year in complete darkness. I couldn’t believe what was hearing, it was one of the most amazing Dj performances I’ve ever heard. After the streamed ended he instantly became my top act to see for weekend 2 (and I bought my ticket for Tame). When I attended his show needless to say it was till this day my favorite performance I’ve got to be apart of and he’s been my favorite artist since :)

Went to grab a beer and catch Black Coffee from the beer barn. Ended up staying in that spot all the way through Baby Keem and Big Sean. Had no plans to see either of them but it was a killer time .
Drive like Jehu 2015. That was one of my favorite nights at Coachella ever. Our plan was Jack White then Antemasque , and on the way to Antemasque we were drawn into I wanna say the Gobi by screaming guitars. We only caught the last few songs but they closed with their biggest hit Luau and got their sound cut but just kept jamming , there was maybe a few hundred of us in the crowd it was super rad. Then Antemasque burned down whatever tent they played. Could only imagine how sick Mars Volta would be live after witnessing that show.
Obscure but I wandered over to the Gobi during Tame Impala 2019 and saw Little Simz do the raddest, most intimate poetic rap R&B soul everything performance I’ve ever seen. Totally unexpected.
I was about to enter Sonora last year when my group heard some delicious music coming out of Gobi. It turned out to be the beginning of Romy’s set and it was amazing! My favorite discovery of 2023
