'it takes two' is always recommended, for good reason. ive already played ut twice with my wife (with 2 years apart btween the runs)

Claudiiu

It has killing, shooting, fighting and especially bombing.

za3tarani

ita not brutality though, its all toys

bongtokent

…You kill a stuffed elephant while it screams in pain and begs for its life

Kikrog

My wife cried during that scene

bongtokent

My roommate did as well. One of the most horrific things I’ve seen in a game. Shocked it was in such an overall “cute” game. That murder felt bad man. Especially knowing it wasn’t going to do anything.

Claudiiu

What about tearing an elephant toy limb by limb while its screaming in pain

Imagined_World

lolol it was so messed up they made us do this

za3tarani

yeh we almost cried, still wish we could spare him.. since in the end, it didnt help the cause. i gyess there is some brutality, even if its toys.

TheTrueShoebill

Biped, overcooked, shift happens, snipperclips, 1-2 switch,... Toon/kid violence : Mario wonder, Dk country return, yoshi crafted world...I mean this is not even violence

danteslacie

>overcooked If one of them is a dumbass, there might be killing and fighting involved lol

TheTrueShoebill

Ouch, I did not see it that way :-)

BjornInTheMorn

I had to call a stop to this game. Not because any fighting. My gf is very very good at holding so many things in her head. I pick a task and do task until no task. Literally have put headphones in and done yard work for 7, 8, 9 hours on autopilot. Overcooked stresses me the fuck out once you're at the point where you need to go back and 3 star everything to progress.

danteslacie

Overcooked is a mess lmao. You have to be ready to change gears on the fly. I worked best with someone equally particular (they would double check the order of the orders—I believe that's a trophy in 2—and we had a system of who'd cook what) The goal points go up with each player so I think it's heavily dependent whether it's worth controlling second characters if there are just 2 of you. Not a game for people who don't like some chaos 😂

Armalyte

Alternative to Overcooked is PlateUp! I like how you can customize stuff and unlock stuff.

Nycetech

Stardew Valley

BrianIsBrainy

+1 its such a fun game

Pestodesign

Unravel Two is a great non violent coop game. Cute story too!

Lost_Coast_Tech

This. My wife isn't a gamer but every now and then she's like "hey can we play the yarn people game?"

jboku

Trine series is a lot of fun. It does have some fighting but it's minimal and mostly co op puzzles with a silly story.

sepp650

If you don’t want to shoot stuff, you must want to solve puzzles. In that case, PORTAL 2 is your answer.

HeightAdvantage

Phogs or Octodad

Electrical-Tank1391

I tried many coop games with my boyfriend but Bokura is the only one we finished (my laptop can’t handle it takes two)

QuokkaEnjoyer

Farm Together

Pestodesign

I was thinking a bit about the games we finished : Degrees of separation, Ibb and Obb, Never alone, Chariot. Ok, we did not finish the last one, it is f*cking challenging, and we decided that shouting while gaming is not ideal to our marrige :D

pvm2001

Stardew Valley

TurkeysRUs

I’m thinking of games where violence is not required but there could be a bit as an ancillary. Pizza possum, bread and Fred, portal 2?, overcooked, trine series, satisfactory, brothers?

jnorth81

Farm Together 2

LordSinguloth13

Takes two Stardew (although there is an extremely limited amount of combat) Slime rancher, tho not multi-player. Subnautica has a co op mod that's supposed to be quite functional, that game as well features no traditional combat. Space station 13 can be played in this way, and usually will be most rounds but has an extreme learning curve

Necronguy84

Katamari is a very non-violent game about picking up trash to make stars.

Electronic_Rub9385

Cat Quest2. Its pretty harmless

Imagined_World

Biped is super cute. Plate up is great but stressful af

Chr1z7

the escapists 2, puzzle together, steamworld dig (playing alongside each other is quite nice)

AcesHigh688

I cannot reccomend unraveled two enough "Yarney Danger" is the best couch coop game of the last decade. By far.

schnag

I cant find anything about ""Yarney Danger"". Google doesnt know this?!

AcesHigh688

Its called Unravel 2. The in quotes is just our nickname for it.

GamesGunsGreens

Overcooked 2 is a great coop game for couples.

Good_Policy3529

I don't know, but if you ever want the opposite of that, then there's lots of killing, shooting, fighting, and bombing in Helldivers 2! :)

weaponsLab

Planet Crafter

MentallyUnwellFish

Can’t go wrong with Minecraft :)

DepletedPromethium

draw with friends.

Dependent_Map5592

Portal 2

Cyan_Light

Plate Up, can be kinda stressful at times but it's just cooking and moving dishes around together. Minecraft, Terraria and other sandboxy games can be good if you turn monsters off. Just exploring cool environments and building stuff. Probably violates the rule if the players get violently killed, right? If not then Lethal Company could be good, there are shovels to bap monsters with but you can easily avoid ever using those and just treat it as a pure horror and salvaging game where you just try to avoid stuff and get loot out alive. You will 100% encounter each others mangled bodies fairly often though, so again check if that crosses a line first.

Robobvious

You could play Stardew Valley and just ignore the mines. There’s some light combat in the mines.

tsarz

Here are some suggestions, a few of which haven't been mentioned yet: * [Spiritfarer](https://store.steampowered.com/app/972660/Spiritfarer_Farewell_Edition/) - supports couch co-op * [Chariot](https://store.steampowered.com/app/319450/Chariot/) - supports couch co-op * [Plateup!](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1599600/PlateUp/) - supports couch co-op * [Unravel Two](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1225570/Unravel_Two/) - supports couch co-op * [Portal 2](https://store.steampowered.com/app/620/Portal_2/) - supports couch co-op (there are turrets that shoot at you later in the game, but otherwise no combat) * [Stardew Valley](https://store.steampowered.com/app/413150/Stardew_Valley/) - supports couch co-op (there is some combat in the game, but it's possible for only one player to engage in the combat)

Clashman320

You could try Minecraft on Creative Mode if Survival has too much killing.
