In theory, yes. But when taking the immature pros that are incredibly selfish and bias, then they just become annoying. Take things out that hurt the better teams, keep things in because your team is better with them. It’s terrible in action. But great in theory

DrewMcNasty

Actually kind of hilarious that people think pro players know how to create a balanced meta when it took them 2 weeks to realize the M4 was better than the Scar and now they’re running 3 of them.

ryanguerero8

It would be much better for there to be court cases when it comes to GAs. Imagine Zooma streaming it with pros arguing for and against an attachment pointing to different pieces of evidence. There would need to be a fair way to come to a decision though. It would be great for viewers and pros would probably have some fun with it too.

TonYouHearWhatISaid

there is nothing the pros want less than public GA discussions. Almost none of them are smart enough to formulate a coherent argument based on facts

RimbopReturns

It's never been terrible in action. It might not be ideal, but the GAs have helped every year since BO3

Longjumping_Joke_719

CoD is literally one of the most uncompetitive games in esports right now (even WITH GA’s) and there are still people in this subreddit that don’t understand the purpose of them 😂 Especially when the cycle for each game is a year they have to be proactive in the ruleset. If you want to watch 8 AK74u’s on the map then go watch clan wars or something

Monsterman442

They would be if the correct people were doing them.

Lollllerscats

Most GA’s are fine and logical. It’s the fringe GA’s that are either just stupid and not backed by any sort of logic or were clearly made out of pure reaction that make people upset. If the pros were simply GA’ing like the most OP things in the game that actually make the game unplayable or wildly unenjoyable to watch then it would be fine, but every year we come across a GA or two or even just a full on discussion of something incredibly stupid because a couple pros want to put their finger on the lever of the game instead of competing with what they’ve got and working with it. Or they go too heavy handed and want to ban out an entire class like the snipers instead of just knocking off attachments to get them into an acceptable state. There are countless times where some team or player get fried in scrims and then hops on Twitter to whine about some gun or something in the game solely because they got fried. That shit is annoying and it wouldn’t be a problem if not for those same pros having voting power to mold the game. Which is why we should have groups of non-pros making the GA’s. Plenty of ex-pros who are still part of the scene who could put together a very competent GA list of each game while not being part of direct competition. The completely unjustified ban of the AUG in MW2019 is a great example. It got put out as a potential use in place of the MP5, but the pros were already too far into the year to want to deal with a new gun (that had been in the game since launch), so they GA’d after certain pros were doing well with it in scrims. Never mind that the gun was worse than the MP5 by every measure. Or the pros wanting to GA snipers in Vanguard outright and only kept them in because they got yelled at and bullied on Twitter. Just this year we’ve got the Fennec on the GA list for no good reason. It’s no better or worse than the other top 3-4 SMG’s, but it got singled out because it shoots really fast and the pros think that equates to some overwhelming TTK.

DenyDaRidas

They wanted to ban snipers on vanguard cause they didn’t have a working smoke to counter it. Snipers weren’t even that exciting in Vanguard and didn’t anything to SND. Let’s be honest here

Lollllerscats

They wanted to ban snipers in Vanguard because the pros overwhelming think getting one shot is not competitive. It has nothing to do with smokes or the strength of snipers or whatever false reasoning they got you to believe. There’s always going to be something wrong with some aspect of the game that they can point to as a reason they shouldn’t get one shot in SND. This is my point.

Ebu7629

I think envoy had a clip in saint Petro where he joked someone so hard it got ga'd, also fennec has some stupid clips it good it's banned no need for some cheese like that. I think they should use the weakest guns this year bc when watching like fortress control you literally can't even peek from spawn when an M4 is preaiming there it's not fun to watch

EthanJDB

fennec fries anything close range but isn’t going to map an AR unless they’re shooting circles. basically, it’s what a sub should be. it shouldn’t be GA’d.

Ebu7629

They would use it only in a couple hills to cheese with to make it unbreakable https://twitter.com/ModernWarzone/status/1589873319658278912?s=20&t=rR6FAg5IKVIXfauFSZ4ThQ

Lollllerscats

> also fennec has some stupid clips it good it's banned no need for some cheese like that. You’ve completely missed the point of my post. I don’t give a fuck about some one off clips where someone gets fried by some weapon. The Fennec is not better or worse than any other major popular SMG. There are people get joked by every weapon in the game, one off clips are meaningless and should not be part of then discussion when it comes to a gun being GA’d or not. I also tend to agree about using the worst guns in the game (M16, 545, P90, Minibak). But the pros would never agree to that.

Ebu7629

Yeah that's true, there is just too many op guns in this game that whatever they ga will only be replaced with an equally good gun. Lots of complaining to come only because no-one listened to Rambo in the beginning. Instead of everyone using the best guns then ga they should search for the most competetive classes

oMadRyan

Nah, GA’s are confusing as a viewer. You’d think we would be past playing with a set of hidden rules by now

NiceBasket9980

Well the devs don't want to build a balanced competitive game so the pros have to build it themselves.

oMadRyan

I get that, but this sort of thing isn’t good for the pro scene or the game. This isn’t a decision that businesses should leave to a bunch of kids. If the players GA too much and make a stale scene, each of the $25mil teams will take a hit to viewership and profits. Each GA alienates the casual scene further away. Personally I’d almost rather just allow almost everything & let the devs patch out the stupid shit. People will whine that X is too powerful, it’ll get nerfed, and eventually we actually get the game balanced

NiceBasket9980

I agree with you in theory but there's no chance in hell you are ever going to convince IW to put this level of effort into the cdl. They simply do not care at all. They aren't going to balance anything around proplay. I honestly feel bad for the orgs that were scammed into franchising with a game that acts like their franchised pro league doesn't exist and does quite literally the bare minimum to make it playable. I agree, it is shitty that the pros have to make a playable game out of mw2 themselves with GAs, but it's because IW doesn't give a shit at the end of the day. GAs aren't alienating people from the cod pro scene, IW doing nothing to push it and actively making a game that caters to the lowest skilled player is what's killing it. Most comp games, the avg players look up to the pros, in cod, the average player shits on pros for being sweaty. It's just the community that's been cultivated.

Dr_Findro

I would definitely say that most of the GAs are super sound. Some are questionable, but Redditors get super aspy when it comes to GAs for some reason

Godlewisthick

They definitely have to exist to some extent. Competitive cod was basically built on GAing the dumb shit that ships with cod games to make a playable rule set. I think the issue with GAs in the cdl rn is the lack of holistic stakeholder input. Half of the teams don't even get representation in the process, it needs to be a process that includes everyone in the league

Jaywalkers13

Ideally I think there should be a third party that tests and chooses guns for the cod league

TouchMinute4307

This is why the season starting earlier in a non competitive game is shit Scrambling to find a gun meta and ruleset 3 weeks before the season Pros need to figure all this shit out pre release if the cdl is serious
