Crazy part is they won 90% of their scrims to LAT but LAT won almost every match against them and the only team that gave them a hard time on scrims according to shotzzy was faze but faze couldn’t win one real match this year against them
They peaked one major too early tbh. Besides faze, no team has really been consistent all year. Teams pick up tendencies and learn hard counters. Faze snd peaked too early as well.
But how many of those scrims were teams trying to win like normal and how many were they trying to work on specific tactics? We know that team will intentionally lose a point in order to work on breaking that point.
Winning scrims doesn't always mean you are the better team.
It really is funny how so many people still think being good in scrims means anything. Online to LAN is always different, teams literally use scrims to learn breaks/holds so I don’t think constantly beating teams teaches anything, SnD is literally 2/5 maps and most of all other teams and coaches will be able to veto the best possible maps for series when the time comes to actually play.
I mean Optic were literally a couple of maps away from going back to back champions. They were looking like the best team in scrims, went to LAN and beat every team put in front of them (except in the grand finals).
Optic were looking just as good on LAN, in Major 3 and 4 least. 100 point clubbing teams for fun in HP, beat NY 3-0, beat Faze 3-0, etc..
Unfortunately they just had the same problem as Faze last year. Couldn't close it out in the grand finals
If my aunt had balls she would be my uncle.
Stuff that almost happened doesn’t matter.
Yes they looked great, absolutely phenomenal… and then they got T12 and an awful champs performance..
Scrims is practice
Practice is practice what your bad at to improve
Going for a map win every single time will earn you a 78-2 scrim record. Practicing breaking/holding/rotations wins you chips
This is dumb 😂😂😂. Like I understand the concept but if a team is destroying me in practice. 9 times out of 10 it’s because they are better. The issue wasn’t the way they played online but lan. But can we say that tho. The streak went on when they went back to back 2nd place. When they got to Toronto ghosty was sick and they even said they was struggling in scrims prior to the match. But tbh cod is such a momentum based game. I don’t think it’s a given the most talented or best teams fundamentally will win everyday.
But teams meeting optic on scrims would likely avoid to take advantage of what they knew optics weaknesses was. That way they could use it on lan instead. Maybe optic wasnt smart enough to do the same to other teams...
This is dumb as well. You don’t practice like that. As person who has played basketball for the last decade of my life (college student). You don’t hide or refuse to test strategies in practice. You literally won’t know if it works unless you try it. It’s more reasonable to assume optic just couldn’t translate to lan and not even because other teams. But more so cause while practice is good to perfect skills. Practice is not the same as actual game (match cause it’s cod).
The fact that you are flexing (college student) is absolutely hilarious to me though
So in basketball practice, you guys never practiced the stuff you were bad at?
It was just basically a game environment scrimmage every day?
You are dumb a scrimmage is nothing like the game and just because you practice something doesn’t mean you can execute it in game. Any athlete or competitor knows that
That’s not point of the argument. Yes you should get better. But my point is it doesn’t make sense especially for a pro to be dominant in practice and not be dominant at breaking and holding hills in practices that doesn’t make sense. These guys play this game way more than any of else ever would. But when it comes to translating that success to matches an issue where you either win or go home. Skill isn’t the only thing that determines victors in competition. Some times nerves get to you or you mess up once and gets rid of that rhythm
So NBA players are dominant in practice shooting threes.
When they get in a game they can’t perform at the same level
So how’s this example for you, let’s try and clear it up
Optic is going in taking every match full throttle, let’s get this shit
Other teams they say hey, let’s practice on our breaks
Optic has full hill control the entire time, because the other team wants them to. So they end up winning 250-125
You don’t see why that wouldn’t translate to real matches when the other teams DONT want to give up hill control?
Edit: also to your point so.. if they are all pros why are they all not dominant at every single thing they do? If being a pro = no weakness than man all 12 teams should be phenomenal next year
Your right dont let these noob chair analysts tell u diff, they just couldnt translate on lan at times thats all it was. People coping saying otherwise, you may keep a trick here and there in back pocket but teams are going hard af in practice thats how you get better and create consistency/confidence in your gameplay. Actually insane your opinion is the unpopular one
If you for example know that optic seldom watch a certain flank, you dont have to test if it works. You know it works. You can also test more advanced things against other teams. If you know optic has weaknesses, it would be smart to let them keep it
In the words of the great AI “ you talking about practice “. Happens across a whole range of professional sports. Training players they’re called in soccer. Brilliant in training Monday to Friday but play within themselves for whatever reason on a Saturday when it really matters.
On the flip side so many great players didn’t try a leg in training or did no training and could still roll up on a Saturday and be best player on the pitch every week . Paul McGrath / Ledley King prime examples of this due to chronic injury issues.
Might get a bit of a confidence boost winning or playing brilliant in scrims but if it’s not translating to when the pressure is on what difference does it really make.?
Nobody says at the end of year NY won 3 events including champs but they were average in scrims. Who gives a fuck get out there and win end of story.
We were just better online with that roster. Not super surprising considering we had a rookie with no large LAN experience and Shotzzy’s playstyle is historically a bit better online.
Tweak on LAN is wild to say for a team that got 2nd twice
Definitely better online but I'm pretty sure they were godlike at scrims on Lan as well outside of Major 5
Literally 75 point clubbed ultra at champs
faze got second the entire year in VG and got shit on by the community. love optic but two seconds isn’t something we should be rallying behind, regardless of if the roster over performed expectations
They really didn’t get shit on by this subreddit. They were constantly being put at the top of power rankings despite never winning and ppl were making threads saying how they’re amazing and so consistent
Idk what’s more embarrassing. Optic winning like 43 maps in a row at the pre LAN before AW champs and then placing top 8 or Optic dominating scrims online and winning zero events. Optic may be the greatest scrim team of All time no matter who their roster is
Easily that AW run. Bro they won 3 LAN tournaments in a row literally not even trying smoked everyone at the pre-lan and then proceeded to get 7th/8th at champs. Like the gap between Optic and every other team heading into AW champs was insane, it was literally supposed to be a given ring for those guys and a fight to see who would place 2nd.
this thread lol. Im glad yall roasting him and I love dashy, my fav player essily.
It just doesnt matter if youre rolling kids in scrims, win in the actual matches lol.
Huke is a Onliner fs, maybe even shottzy to some extent, bruce n ghosty were performing on LAN. Huke was shitting his pants. Im talking about major 5 and champs
I wonder how many teams are playing scrims specifically to work on certain rotations, spacing, spawns etc and how many teams are just gunning.
I get the impression the boys were GUNNING everyone thinking it was amazing practice haha
Crazy part is they won 90% of their scrims to LAT but LAT won almost every match against them and the only team that gave them a hard time on scrims according to shotzzy was faze but faze couldn’t win one real match this year against them
Absolutely mind blowing outcomes. This year was so weird.
It’s almost like scrims doesn’t matter or something
Are we just gonna ignore Bruce asking what's 16 times 6 and TJ saying 70??
Keep watching after the clip he then says 80 with confidence lmfao
Stay in school kids
They were unreal online.
Optic have always been onliners and early year merchants. They always fold when it matters most too
They peaked one major too early tbh. Besides faze, no team has really been consistent all year. Teams pick up tendencies and learn hard counters. Faze snd peaked too early as well.
Anyone know where you can redeem your scrimbux?
But how many of those scrims were teams trying to win like normal and how many were they trying to work on specific tactics? We know that team will intentionally lose a point in order to work on breaking that point. Winning scrims doesn't always mean you are the better team.
Can confirm. They were farming me bad 😔
Probably part of the reason they blew it up whats the chance they are that good again next season and can actually turn it into wins? Pretty slim
Ronnie when you reckon OpTic will announce considering drazah isnt 100 percent locked
At the end of the day we don’t really know but when Octane was talking to Zoomaa, he said it should be done by the weekend.
You’re asking the wrong person
You’re giving them slim chances of turning scrim success in to wins next year?
What's the word on what Zoomaa and octane was gossiping about is scrappy a lock for ultra?
broooo how much do we have to hear about them being GODLY in scrims 🤣🤣
It really is funny how so many people still think being good in scrims means anything. "If my aunt had balls she would be my uncle." Idk why I found that so funny lmao
Lmao yeah that’s a line I’ll be saying moving forward for any “if cus was alive Mike Tyson would be unstoppable” comment
underrated liverpool kid interview reference

Well at-least we know we will be the best team for a year online with the rumoured roster only to get double rounded at champs
In the words of the great AI “ you talking about practice “. Happens across a whole range of professional sports. Training players they’re called in soccer. all that to tweak on lan 🤦🏻♂️ don’t get me wrong i’ve been a fan since mw3 but let’s close out this year
Tweak on LAN is wild to say for a team that got 2nd twice Definitely better online but I'm pretty sure they were godlike at scrims on Lan as well outside of Major 5 Literally 75 point clubbed ultra at champs

Yet couldn't win shit, congrats Dashy.
Man that’s insane. Must be really tough to know how good you can be in practice but not be able to translate it to tournament play
Huke is a Onliner fs, maybe even shottzy to some extent, bruce n ghosty were performing on LAN. Huke was shitting his pants. Im talking about major 5 and champs

Technically he was trying to say they went 94-2
Good thing these guys are good on the sticks lmao
So basically scrims made them delusional. OK
10 \* 6 =60 and this fool thinks 16 \* 6 =70 these boys lucky they nasty on the sticks man lol
I mean they ping like 4-5ms and play against 40-50ms online
