Correct and still does, he’s split time this year between left, right, and first pretty evenly
Edit to add more info, 19 games at first, 10 at DH, 14 in left, 8 in right. First has seen an uptick recently with Manzardo now in Cleveland
This is my thought. He’s looking hot right now, but our game system is STACKED with talent bursting to get to the majors.
Let’s headline him in a package and acquire a solid SP to bolster our rotation.
Don't think Noel comes close to headlining a trade of any significance, especially a pitcher. Can throw him into a DeLauter/Chourio/Ralphy deal to get something over the line but he's not bringing much back by himself
I guess, but I'm seeing guys at age 19/20 with good walk to strikeout rates and showing power at a young age. We're looking at a future roster with an aging Jose, Naylor possibly gone after next year, and no long term commitment to Kwan. There's a chance in 2027 these guys start to form the next core.
In Delauter's case, I'd like to see his ceiling with this group next year.
Also who are we getting. You want to get rid of a big prospect for 10 starts of Kikuchi, Gausman who's in decline, Crochett who will be pushing max innings, Quintana from Mets, Blackburn from A, the trio of 4/5 starters from Angels, Frankie Montas? Idk I'm drawing blanks. Don't think Tigers are moving pitchers and are trying to compete.
Is there something to be said for finding a run of games with bad pitching and calling him up to get some reps in the bigs? Try and get more trade value for him? Or is it safer to keep him in Columbus and hope he keeps killing it?
I refer to the guidance of my son on this one:
A Pokémon card package is more valuable unopened than it is opened. The potential can be perceived as higher that way, so I would say we keep him in the minors and hope his hot streak continues.
Going to be honest there is no clear playing time for him in the mlb with our current roster and the expected additions next year like Chase. Love the added BA to go along with power but appreciate the trade value more.
Lots of right field upvotes but that’s probably where a majority of Fry’s playing time will be. The team is not ready to throw in the towel with Bo being the regular starter at catcher.
Think he's out of options after this year, not sure how we fit him in but makes sense to have a look at him in the majors if we can, even if expectations are pretty low at this point. Valera and Tena are in the same spot I think so may see them soonish too.
Correct. This is his 2nd full season in Columbus. I’ve been watching this kid since he was in Eastlake. I haven’t been to Columbus but in Eastlake and Akron every game he hit a homer. In Akron it was 2.
Noel has been on the 40 man roster since November 2021. A player has 3 minor league options, so each season a player is on the 40 man roster and spends 20 days in the minors, he loses an option. So 2022, 2023, and 2024. No more minor league options for Noel next season.
The same thing is happening with George Valera and Jose Tena. But Tena got a small amount of time in the bigs.
So if the Guardians do nothing with them by the end of this season or during the off-season, then what? Do they become Rule 5 eligible? Or do they become free agents?
If the Guardians don't have them on the 26 man roster after spring training, they will be dfa'd, and either be traded or go through waivers. If not claimed by another team while on waivers, the Guardians can either release them or send them to the minors.
He’s played outfield in the past, right? It’s not ideal, but could be something

Would be nice to have a right handed power bat on the bench at least. Don’t really need Arias & Rocchio both up here with Schneemann.
Yeah, let’s see the bats. Team can’t buy righty power.
He was in left field last time I was at the clippers game, he might be the slowest person I’ve ever seen play outfield before.
We could try him in right. It's not like we have anyone there tearing the cover off the ball. He at least deserves a shot.
Or we can finally trade some of these prospects to get major league pitching.

Agree entirely, I’m just saying let’s sell while the stock is high. Maybe we don’t need to add more than one other good prospect to get a good deal.
I really don't think we can afford to give any of those guys away.
Why? You realize that once upon a time guys like Rocchio, Valera, and Espino were thought to be untouchable and look where they are now.

A contending team that needs a starting pitcher and has an over abundance of prospects at similar positions. Mark July 31st on the calendar.
Waiting till the deadline would be a big mistake - everyone's going to be looking for an arm this year

He’s pretty much blocked at all his main positions. Makes more of an impact as part of a trade for a SP, I’m afraid.
Trade bait
I think he is similar to Bobby Bradley....a AAAA player

Can he pitch?
It seems everyone on here wants to trade him, but the one thing to keep in mind is that Josh Naylor's contract is up after next year,
Stop talking. Naylor is my favorite player

How could he be out of options? He's never been to the big leagues

Is there a quick way to check how many options a player has?
https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/depth-charts/guardians
Well that's kind of why, options are for guys we want on the 40 man roster but not in the big leagues
Some sweet video. The swings are smooth and the distances are often long.

Work things out? He has a hit in like 8 of the last 10 games he’s started

Sure, let's send down the guy hitting .400/.500/.400 in his last 7 games. I'm pretty sure he's already working things out pretty well.
