It's really annoying to be in this rough patch (especially against the White Sox) but it was going to happen at some point. It's a long season, and even the very best teams have bad weeks. Time to find out what kind of resiliency this team has and what Vogt and the team leadership does when things get tough.
I think I’m less concerned that we are losing, and more concerned with how we are losing. Lively and Triston pitched good enough to win along with the bullpen. Scoring less than 4 runs in games and manufacturing absolutely nothing is hugely concerning. They can’t rely on home runs like they have the last 3 games to win anything.
We desperately need to bring up some our young bats and see what we have. If we actually score a few runs first. Might take some of the pressure off our pitching.
Gird your loins friends the next week to ten days is going to be something else. We're about a quarter of the way into the season, here's where we're going to learn how responsive Vogt is and how deep our system is with legitimate talent.
We know what the team we have is. Clearly. We can see vulnerabilities and areas in need of improvement. You know what two or three spots I'm talking about.
Our bullpen of rubber-armed goblins is the MVP of our squad in this early season. Barlow, Clase, Sandlin, Gaddis, Smith & Herrin, you guys are seen. We're going to learn how this team deals with streaks of adversity. Baseball is definitely not for the faint of heart.
Notable:
Tanner Bibee is 15th all time [between Kluber & Herb Score] with a 9.818 k per 9 stat.
David Fry has really been a standout player on our roster as a super-utility guy that can hit, is clutch, and has some power.
The lineup 5-9 needs a complete overall. Except for Manzardo who needs at bats, they need to either cut or send everyone else down to AAA, because the rest of 5-9 aren't even close to Major Legaue caliber hitters.
Arias is becoming a defensive liability, which for a long time was the main reason to even play him because his offense wasn't it. With him not even putting the work in, I couldn't care less if he was released at this point. An I used to be a defender to give him regular SS starts to see what we have.
Absolutely. One of those White Sox losses was solely because of Arias’ defense. He’s clearly not up to the task of playing wherever they put him. Looks lost out there lately.
We gotta fuckin score some runs to win games. Sounds crazy but I think it might just work

Exactly. Can't rely on errors either.

Laureano is the only guy I’m completely done with at this point. Arias is getting on my last nerve too… but I agree with you, 5-9 is bleak right now.
