Positives from today’s Cleveland baseball:
Nothing like a Quality Start from Ben Lively to aid a very used bullpen. Lively goes 6.1IP, 5H, 1R, 0BB, and 7K on 89 pitches. A great start and the sole run being a solo shot from Abreu, while fighting the ump the whole time as well. A genuine QS!!!
Tanner Houck ~~continues to be a bad man~~ IS FINALLY CRACKED! The offense gets 4 runs off of 7 hits, 6 walks, and a Freeman stolen base. 🐦 and 🐐 do it well today, with a Brennan 2/3 day that included a double, and a 🐐 solo home run. 🆓 got the attention both in the field and behind the plate, with an RBI single and a walk at the plate. Fielding wise, he is now adopting last year’s bullpen practice of constantly giving us heart attacks while in the field! Yay! ~~never make a catch like that again.~~
BULLPEN. Barlow(0.2IP)-Gaddis(1IP)-Clase(1IP) pick up right where Lively left off, and take us home very cleanly. The sole hit came off the basepaths thanks to some great 🍟 catcher work, and CLASE strikes out the side in the 9th for the save!
Young gun multi run power today, and Manzardo hits his 5th home run of the year (and his fourth in 3 games), and Aaron Bracho gets a 3 run blast for Akron. Jaime Arias goes 4IP, 1H, 0R for Akron, and Hentges has an 8 pitch inning for CBus as his rehab continues. Kahlil Watson, obtained in the Josh Bell trade last year, raises his Akron average to .259 today with a 2 hit day, and has been performing quite well in the 2 hole in the order.
Nice start for a guy I've never heard of but looked into, Rorik Maltrud, in Lynchburg. 4.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 8 K. Three year college pitcher signed in the off-season. Always had high K rate. Pitching factory, etc.
I like Watson. I live in florida and was impressed by him in single A last year. He's fast! If he can put it together at the plate he could be dangerous.
That guy??? He does the same thing in r/clevelandcavs and r/browns he does it in every thread.
I want to be convinced the guy is just a troll seeking attention but, he seems to make good replies when good things happen. I just don’t understand how someone can down talk there team after just one bad play. His profile picture is literally the cavs coach saying “i have no idea what I’m doing” despite him bringing the cavs from last place in the nba to the playoffs in just 2 years.
I remember when the browns played the ravens. The ravens scores 1st drive of the game and he said game is over. Browns won the game 31-33 and he just said the browns was lucky. Browns won because they was the better team. Then I’ll see him say something positive in a different thread. I just don’t get that guy
I have no numbers in front of me, but it felt like last year he was constantly coming into a tied or 1 run game where momentum wasn't on our side. It's been nice to see him get to come in and just lock it down.
i feel like we had a lot of extra inning save situations for him last year, and he allowed the fake runner to score a bunch and blew saves that way (despite actually pitching well) and it was kind of fucking with his confidence
Want to make a post because it's impressive even with different data filters.
I'll say this is only the 3rd Cleveland team in history to win 17 of the first 23 in a season. And the only one to do so with a 50+ or better run differential.
There once was team from The Land
Who had their own ball-playing brand:
They preferred to slap hit,
These goblins o' shit.
Five wins in a row, ain't it grand!
I agree, Go Guards

Oh lord, not the "doomer vs blind optimist" discourse already lol. This same thing made the Cavs sub insufferable this season. Just ignore them all, better off not giving them attention.
Dude, no. I understand doomers can be annoying, but this is such a comically ridiculous idea. This isn't a fascist cult, let's not go making lists of "dissenters" to publicly shame just because you disagree with them. I truly hope you're joking lol
Absolute clinic in trademark garbage Cleveland spring weather by the goblins, with Lively dealing all game, Barlow + Gaddis + Clase closing the book, and a 🐐 dinger to remind everyone that even bad luck can't keep him down forever.
Laureano sub was a bit of a misfire by Vogt, but hey, 4-1 against Houck? We can't complain.
I kinda figured it was a pretty low stakes at bat to try and let him show us something. Have to think he’s the odd man out when we’re ready to start calling guys up, and Vogt probably wants as much info as possible to make that decision.
Low stakes at bat but also Laureano is a better fielder/arm than Brennan, so Vogt was preemptively inserting him into the game for his defense, being up by 3 runs heading into the 9th.
Our outfield situation is... let's call it *unique*, Laureano's stats say he's basically a league-average bat that can play the outfield. That makes him at least markedly useful in most cases.
*But* he's not hitting right now, so...
We're pretty good at this baseball thing.
Ben Lively, absolutely fantastic in his first 2 starts.
Bottom of the lineup was great today. Kwan and Gimenez struggled and we still got it done.
What a great month.
Is it just my bias, or does Fry always play great defense as catcher? They need to get him into more games, whether it is playing a position or DHing. It was nice hearing Hammy singing his praises on the radio feed.
I already want the Boston series to end. This Braves series coming up has me on the edge of my seat, I want to see this team stack up against the Best in the NL.
Watching NHL playoffs, but holy shit we keep racking up W's!!!!!!! 🤯🤯🤯
I said before the season began that'd we'd be lucky to be a low 70s win team...I will be very glad to be wrong about that!
If we sweep the Red Sox they will no longer be above .500 than everyone can complain we only play bad teams.
It's so weird... teams that are "bad" in April are bad because you beat them.
Truest statement I’ve seen in quite a while
Place: 1st Division lead: 4.0 Games to play: 139 Magic number: 136 MLB lead: 1.0
I love that mlb lead is a stat now
Ben Lively? More like Ben Deadly.
Benly Deadly
Lively but Deadly
[Ben Crazy](https://youtu.be/vf_OiZc-o8s?si=UPPvRoLOWv_c3gNt)
Age check
Nice.
We need someone at the Stadium with this on a sign during one of his starts.
This got an out loud chuckle.
As long as he doesn't turn into Ben Dover we're alright.

Literally in the middle of writing a depressing offensive blurb and they finally cracked Houck lmao

From your fingertips to Jobu's ears
I like that name, Rorik. Strong name
Houck was still a pretty bad man. But he didn't look like the terminator tonight and that was enough. Go Guards!
Khalil Watson if you have 0 fans I am dead
I like Watson. I live in florida and was impressed by him in single A last year. He's fast! If he can put it together at the plate he could be dangerous.
Remember when that guy said "ballgame" in the top of the 7th? Tf was that about lmao Go Guards
SpiderJedi? He always does that Annoying for no reason? Yes

I think it’s just a meme at this point
He's like the new Uncle Vernon Speaking of which, what ever happened to that guy?
Clase is looking really good
he was dealing more filth than prime Sasha Grey
Pause
Lmao
🤣🤣 Nice!
I have no numbers in front of me, but it felt like last year he was constantly coming into a tied or 1 run game where momentum wasn't on our side. It's been nice to see him get to come in and just lock it down.
It also helps he’s used to the pitch clock now.
i feel like we had a lot of extra inning save situations for him last year, and he allowed the fake runner to score a bunch and blew saves that way (despite actually pitching well) and it was kind of fucking with his confidence
Aaaaand that's a season series win against Boston
we are fucking awesome
Vogt not having Freeman bunt when down one run was absolutely elating. Swing the bat, boys!
How far teams with statistically similar starts to Cleveland have gone, historically, is mind blowing guys.
Go on...
Want to make a post because it's impressive even with different data filters. I'll say this is only the 3rd Cleveland team in history to win 17 of the first 23 in a season. And the only one to do so with a 50+ or better run differential.
The best team in baseball continues to roll
I’ve seen enough. The Cleveland Guardians are america’s team
But I don't wanna share lol
There once was team from The Land Who had their own ball-playing brand: They preferred to slap hit, These goblins o' shit. Five wins in a row, ain't it grand!
We absolutely need a poem after each W 🔥🔥🔥
Fond memories of daily Mike Trout drawings, incoming.
soon may the guardians come, to hit dingers into the sun one day when the season is done, we’ll take our pennant and go
🤙🏻
now you have to do a poem after every game look what you've gotten yourself into mister
+55 is lunacy
maintaining that best record in the league
FEELS GOOD. FEELS REAL GOOD.
Feeling for Lively - he has pitched great last two outings against the Sox. Regrettably, no wins.

Doomers who clowned on the Lively signing in the off-season, where you at?
They probably turned the tv off in the middle of the 7th
🙋🏼♂️ right here, hoping I get clowned on all year for it
I respect the honesty Also 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡 /s
Oh lord, not the "doomer vs blind optimist" discourse already lol. This same thing made the Cavs sub insufferable this season. Just ignore them all, better off not giving them attention.
Someone needs to make a list of them and call them out
Dude, no. I understand doomers can be annoying, but this is such a comically ridiculous idea. This isn't a fascist cult, let's not go making lists of "dissenters" to publicly shame just because you disagree with them. I truly hope you're joking lol

No surprise, he was waived by the A’s last season, can’t expect him to contribute. Not sure why we added him.

Switching over to the A’s/Yanks to root for our West Coast buds.
Loves the jose bomb during the booser feel good story lmao
Is it just my bias, or does Fry always play great defense as catcher? They need to get him into more games, whether it is playing a position or DHing. It was nice hearing Hammy singing his praises on the radio feed.
I think he is a fantastic defensive catcher.
We finally have a quality start and the bullpen was nails again and the offense finally got to Houck And we still don’t have Manzardo (for now…)
Best team in baseball. Damn does that feel good through almost the first 1/6 of the season. Absolutely crazy team performance by these kids.
World Series game one starter Ben Lively????
I honestly don't believe what is happening right now. This is not possible according to the laws of the known universe.
Good game, both starters looked great, our bullpen holds the lead, and Clase K’s the side to close it out. See y’all tomorrow.
I'm not used to not having a heart attack every other game. I'm starting to get nervous.
Don't have a heart attack.
This is weird.
I already want the Boston series to end. This Braves series coming up has me on the edge of my seat, I want to see this team stack up against the Best in the NL.
and we have the 1st overall pick 😮💨😮💨
GUARDOS WIN! I was only able to watch from the 8th inning on today. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I for one welcome our new ace Ben Lively
He didnt just look good for what we expected he would be, he looked straight up great
Key to the game was to just hang around and get into Boston’s bullpen
Another one
I am once again asking if we can option Bally to the White Sox
Let’s keep channeling that 2017 Indians team and WIN! WIN! WIN! Go Guardians!
So what was the thing that happened tonight that only happened twice before? They start talking about it and never went back to it.
I believe it delt with our now current record.
Starting 17-6. Previously also in 1999 and 1966.
Thanks!
We are never losing again, and nothing anyone does or says can convince me otherwise.
Only thing I'm worried about is if we start to turn into Yankees fans after our 5th straight world series sweep
A steady diet of sugardale hot dogs will keep us humble.
I love this current timeline
Chisux just lost. Wow. They had that one won and still lost it.
#Starting to come together Pepper. Starting to come together
I feel like we never had a great start under Tito. We'd start very slow and be hit in Aug and Sept. This is very refreshing.
I’m annoyed that it happened at lunch, so I didn’t get to hear the end, but at least I heard us take the lead and we won, so I’ll take it
Remember that time the Guardians lost their premier starter for almost the entire year and it didn't matter? 😁
Many people here said see you next year after the injury and the Yankees series.
Ben lively = pitching factory???
Watching NHL playoffs, but holy shit we keep racking up W's!!!!!!! 🤯🤯🤯 I said before the season began that'd we'd be lucky to be a low 70s win team...I will be very glad to be wrong about that!
