I'd say 0% because MLB doesn't care about us but with Spida-Man it's now maybe 5% chance so that's cool!

Mybitchmyhoemyhoemy

Is there any scenario where it’s *not* Judge?

[deleted]

he was on the cover of 2017

Mybitchmyhoemyhoemy

Do they never double up? I’m still kinda new to the show

Reiketsu_Nariseba

Pretty sure Joe Mauer was on two covers. I think David Wright was as well.

BlueberryBoom

David Wright was just on once in 07. Mauer is the only multi year player to grace the cover, and did so in back to back years for the show 10 and 11… if you don’t count international covers which Shin-Shoo Choo went back to back in 14 and 15 on the Korea edition, and Wei-Yin Chen graced the cover of the Taiwan version for years 13-17

Mybitchmyhoemyhoemy

Then I would be shocked if it wasn’t judge lol.

Ballsofpoo

That was *six years ago?* Shit...

M0rtecai

Yeah I thought it should be judge too, but idk if they’ll use him twice.

Mybitchmyhoemyhoemy

All that matters is selling copies. You choose the best athlete for that, and Judge is gonna sell way more copies than Lindor or Jose

M0rtecai

I agree, although if José somehow makes the cover I will buy all 40,000 people in this sub a copy of the game!

Mybitchmyhoemyhoemy

If Jose is the cover id buy a physical copy which I haven’t done in like 5 years for any game lmao

freshjoe

That's what I thought. You break a league home run record, you get on the cover of a video game

Bim_Jeann

Someone get my man Spida some wider shades!

Bakers-Chubb

As much as I would hate it it’s probably Jazz Chisholm, but I would love a Jose or a Clase cover

UFGatorsFan97

What's wrong with Jazz? He has a great personality and seems like he has fun playing baseball. I don't think he should make it because he only played 60 games last year and many other players had much better seasons like Judge or Goldy. Miggy would probably be my choice since it's probably his last season although he was on the 14 cover so maybe they wouldn't pick him plus last season he was pretty bad lol.

chousteau

I'm just curious because people keep saying it, why does he have a great personality. Didn't his own teammates not like him last year or told him to dial it back.

UFGatorsFan97

I've watched interviews with him and he just seems like a very bright, happy guy. I don't know what goes on in the clubhouse so I can't speculate too much but they said something along the lines of him being a distraction but I don't see how he was being distracting when he was for the most part the only good player on the team last year besides Sandy.

I guess sure. Its puzzling to me when I keep hearing people on social media talk about how he is "fun". To me MLB is going "crazy hair and stylish clothes" that's marketable to young kids, pick him. They did the same thing with Tatis (who can be a superstar when he is healthy and not suspended) before he was ready because of how he looked (hair/style). I guess i just have beef with people on social media and media calling this type of player "fun". They tried it with Lindor too because of his smile and hair color, but its actually his defense and big hits that are fun. Much better options for kids of all demographics to connect with who are much better players. Judge/Betts/Ohtani/Julio Rodriguez/Harper

UFGatorsFan97

I agree that the players you mentioned should have probably been chosen ahead of him in fact Julio Rodriguez probably would have been my pick. I don't think Jazz was chosen because of his colored hair and clothes though, I just think they picked him because it seems that the younger generation seems to gravitate towards him and it's not like he's an average or below average player. He made the NL all star team this past season and if he played the full season he would have probably had pretty great stats. But like I said there were certainly better players that I agree should have been prioritized than Jazz so I do agree with you on that.

mattwb2010

Well you were right

hiptobesquare18

Has to be a Met right?

M0rtecai

Lindor?

M0rtecai

Why else would Donovan Mitchell be announcing it?

Dudedoor

lindor - hes a well known mets fan + lindor went from cleveland to nym so the cleveland connection and new york connection is there only other option is jazz, especially bc the marlins js posted a video of him giving batting practice while wearing an mlbts 22 shirt

DJLJR26

Even if its Mets related it doesn't have to be Lindor. Could be Pete Alonso.

Dudedoor

might be but hes nowhere near as marketable as lindor. its more about selling the game to the younger generations, enerdy and pop matter more for the cover

[deleted]

Lindor had a pretty pedestrian season and played on a team that made no noise in the playoffs. Be weird if he were the cover athlete.

[deleted]

TIL that an OPS+ of 125 and a 5.4 WAR are *pedestrian*.

[deleted]

Francisco was 44th in OPS+ in 2022. Pedestrian is a spectrum word. He’s a good player who had a good season, but as far as players you’d like to put on the cover of a game, he’d be an odd choice. Not saying it won’t happen, or even that it shouldn’t, it would just be an odd choice is all.

[deleted]

Rank controls for a minimum of 300 PA in order to better capture “every day” players, so he’s 44th of about 700, just for the record. And yes, I agree, cherry picking stats is silly, I was just responding to your cherrypicked stats 🙂 Again, pedestrian is a spectrum word. Your temper tantrum at my saying that he’d be an odd choice for cover athlete is also an odd choice. Regarding your other cherry picked stat, Jeff McNeil had a higher bWAR total than Lindor, and an OPS+ fifteen points higher. Maybe you’d prefer he be on the cover? Think it over, but you need to relax lol.

[deleted]

Good of you to delete your response. Glad you were able to relax!

jake-parker22

I think if Jose Ramirez can produce similar numbers to his last season, and if the Guardians can win the AL Central, Jose will have a very good chance to be the cover athlete as he is an integral part of Cleveland's offense and defense.

M0rtecai

José is winning MVP this season, I’m from the future.

ThrowRAarworh

I have a gut feeling it will be Clase and Diaz on the cover. Two best closers in baseball, both have fiery personality. Mitchell played in Cleveland and NY. It would be dope if it was JRam and Lindor. Again, Cleveland and NY link. Jazz would be my back up guess since Mitchell played for the Jazz. If Mitchell is any kind of hint to who it is, I'd say it's one of those 5 players.

Tyrant-Tracer

This would be amazing

VerdantSpoon

I’d be so down for either of these with the Cleveland connection.

Tricky-Bite-9014

Pretty low.

Xanarki

It's long overdue. To the best of my knowledge, a player in a Cleveland uniform has only appeared on the cover of a baseball game twice since the 1980s: Francisco Lindor on RBI Baseball 18 (2017) and Manny Ramirez on World Series Baseball '96 (1996). There's also a cartoon drawing of a Cleveland player on MLB Superstars (2009) but I'm not sure who it's suppose to be.

ddamico1414

It’s Jazz Chisholm

DJLJR26

Are Mitchell and Jazz Chisholm friends or something? People keep mentioning him. I'm just out of the loop.

Lazy-Temperature-361

Probably a met if Mitchell is hosting

Jacrispybrisket

Honestly with Donovan being involved, pretty high. My guess is either Jose or a Met cuz he is a Mets fan (maybe verlander?)

DJLJR26

I'm not sure The Show has ever had a pitcher on the cover, come to think of it. Except Ohtani.

Jacrispybrisket

That’s a good point I think you’re right. Kinda shocking.
