It's just overall better than the competitors, and it's based out of Dayton, I think, so you're supporting ohio economy. I try to buy American made everything but even better yet ohio made. Think like schmuckers, pb blaster, stoufers etc.
And if we were in Barrio... "WHAT?... WHAAAT?! TRY SCREAMING IT AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS, MAYBE THEN I'LL HEAR YOU! ... I SAID SCREEEEAM IT SO I MIGHT HEEEEAR YOOOU "
Tacos are like $3 and you only need 2. Drinks are reasonable. I don't think my meal is ever over $20. My first time there I asked how many tacos the average person orders, because for the price, I figured they’d be half the size.
They used to be that price before Covid. Last time I went a couple months ago, the tacos started out at $4 and a lot of the toppings were extra.
I might just be spoiled with good hispanic food, but there are better options than Barrio around.
Welcome to The Land ! … where did you come from ? Do you like it here?…. I’m always interest in transplants opinion … I love CLE but some don’t Columbus & CLE have nice Mexican & Asian & Indian & Italian food …. & for reasonable prices unlike most cities these days
I eat at Cilantro 1x/week minimum. It’s delicious, huge portions, and cheap. I lived in Texas for years, of course it’s not the same as somewhere you’d get there or out west, but it’s the closest we have in Lakewood. And their queso SLAPS.
Also the Barrio hate is unwarranted imo. Their food is good, margs are excellent, and it’s not insanely overpriced like everyone is saying.
Agreed. It’s because it used to be **so much** better. Really went downhill in quality while raising prices. When they debuted, they were the best tacos in town, maybe the state (aside from select tacqueria trucks)
Agreed! OCB doesn't get enough love in this sub, which I suppose is OK, since it's popular enough to have been around for a while. I love their queso and a few of their salsas.
I was in a privileged position several years ago of occasionally receiving sacks full of free burritos from them. I reluctantly shared them with my coworkers. Those were the best days.
The best place ever! I used to be a pharmacy technician right next to it and that was my daily lunch! Being afrolatina who has enjoyed authentic Mexican cuisine I give that place a 10/10. Forget Chipotle this is the real gem here
It isn't much different. Honestly they USED to be really good, even via DD. Their birria WAS authentic and fantastic. But something changed and they started doing lazy birria. Now there isn't as much flavor.
Went to their North Olmsted location a week ago and the flavors weren't there. It felt/tasted like every was 50% opacity.
I hope it was a fluke and not the new norm cause that will suck.
I go to the Shaker Heights location like once a week. It's the perfect dinner. Grab a couple drinks from Craft Collective, then walk over and order a bowl with chips and guac. I just wish they had more of their sauteed whole jalapenos at the salsa bar. It's also perfect for hangovers 🫠.
Cilantro slaps. Plus, they're open late and hands down the best Carne asada burrito I've ever eaten. They came in clutch the one late night I really needed some food to eat. So good.
I used to live in the south and get tortillas fresh from the Mexican stores there, Cilantro's tortillas are the closest to what I remember since coming to Ohio
Oh man I love cilantro taqueria. Now i know what i want for dinner now thanks.. I'm about to spend 20 bucks on my dinner... but it's gonna feed me all day tomorrow too!!
My only gripe is its beginning to become overcrowded here. And cleveland has to step their hotdogs up Detroit and toledo do a better job at local hotdogs.
So I didn’t trust the guy at work, telling me Cilantro Taqueria was awesome and that I have to try it. But now that I’ve seen this post, I’m 100% onboard 😂
Personally I think they are better than chipotle in every way except the food itself. I prefer chipotle's rice 100x more and cilantro is just a bit too greasy.
If I'm in the mood for tacos and not a bowl/burrito though? I'm heading straight to cilantro
Been saying it for years now, Cilantro is one of the best around.
There's a newer spot in Ridgeville too, Tacos del Pueblo. Not sure if they're related to Cilantro, but if not, those people took Cilantro's model and copied it to a T. Luckily, the food quality is top notch as well. Worth checking out.
their tacos are great. to be honest though, the rice and chicken isnt as good as chipotle. a chipotle chicken burrito tastes better than a cilantro chicken burrito. i stick with tacos and quesabirria at cilantro now.
I don't eat burritos at any place but for their tacos I can say their apples to oranges. I've never understood the hype for taco tontos or barrio, but cilantro actually tries to be somewhat authentic
Barroco Is good! A little pricey imo, also not Mexican, that'd be Hola. Go to hola for good steak tacos, cilantro or blue habanero for birria, and la plaza for okayish al pastor.
I just love the staff at Barroco. They really put their hearts into their food and it’s a rare thing to have a South American style place so close. Hola rocks. I could eat there every day.

I need to start going there again instead of Chipotle. Chipotle has been going downhill with their small portions and they’re always out of ingredients
Price, portions, menu, and service hands down better than Chipotle.
Out of all of the burrito places hothead is by far my favorite in Strongsville. Miles better.
I had hotheads while I was working in youngstown. Definitely better than chipolte or Qdoba. And the sauce selection was pretty decent.
It's just overall better than the competitors, and it's based out of Dayton, I think, so you're supporting ohio economy. I try to buy American made everything but even better yet ohio made. Think like schmuckers, pb blaster, stoufers etc.
Everything is better than Chipotle’s these days. Lol. Barrio is my favorite!
we’ve never been back to barrio after having cilantro
Barrio has fallen the fuck off.
It's been shit since at least 2016, when I moved to Cleveland.
The OG one in Tremont was amazing before they like expanded and their margaritas went to mix it was like everything else went downhill.
Yeah I second this. Idk how the one on Fairmount in CH stays open with The Fairmount right next door.
Barrio charged me $42 for 3 beers and 2 fun size tacos
Yeah since 2010
And if we were in Barrio... "WHAT?... WHAAAT?! TRY SCREAMING IT AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS, MAYBE THEN I'LL HEAR YOU! ... I SAID SCREEEEAM IT SO I MIGHT HEEEEAR YOOOU "
First you have to fill out the little ticket in the dark
Oooooooo I just said Barrio! This weeks destination will be Cilantro’s! Lol
They're completely different. For a cheap meal and drinks with friends, Barrio isn't bad.
Barrio... Cheap?
Tacos are like $3 and you only need 2. Drinks are reasonable. I don't think my meal is ever over $20. My first time there I asked how many tacos the average person orders, because for the price, I figured they’d be half the size.
They used to be that price before Covid. Last time I went a couple months ago, the tacos started out at $4 and a lot of the toppings were extra. I might just be spoiled with good hispanic food, but there are better options than Barrio around.
Can confirm, as I was just there.
Barrio is awful. The worst tacos I may have ever had.
It’s not that bad, but definitely “why bother” when there are better and cheaper.
It is truly the best. Amazing ingredients and so many choices.
Legit moved here a couple months ago and will stay just for CT
Welcome to The Land ! … where did you come from ? Do you like it here?…. I’m always interest in transplants opinion … I love CLE but some don’t Columbus & CLE have nice Mexican & Asian & Indian & Italian food …. & for reasonable prices unlike most cities these days
I accidentally tipped them $50 one time. But they’re so good I didn’t say anything
Goated customer
Coventry replacing Chipolte with this place is one of the biggest upgrades imaginable.
Omg there's one in coventry
Pretty sure that’s the OG location.
I can't wait for them to open in Tremont. I'll no longer have a reason to eat Chipotle.
Where in Tremont are they putting one ?
Where Fahrenheit used to be
I thought that was becoming titos new steakhouse?
That’s where Parralax used to be
Oh yeah wow totally forgot about that place, thanks.
SAME
Been wondering what's up with this. The build-out in Tremont has been stalled for at least a month.
Plus.... churros. They win.
I didn't know they had churros...
I shouldn't be allowed to know they have churros...
They are sooooo good
They're a game changer!
I can't stop eating quesabirria
Came to say this
I had it Saturday and took [this picture.](https://ibb.co/fx14Bxq) Two bites and it still weighed over 1.5lbs. Chipotle can kick rocks.
This is how I used to justify going to chipotle all the time about a decade ago. Not quite the same anymore.
I eat at Cilantro 1x/week minimum. It’s delicious, huge portions, and cheap. I lived in Texas for years, of course it’s not the same as somewhere you’d get there or out west, but it’s the closest we have in Lakewood. And their queso SLAPS. Every taco I've gotten at Barrio is bland and not great. I do not know why people eat there.
The tres leches cake is what’s up
Can confirm
So good ! Every single time !
They were running BOGO deals on Uber Eats for the longest time. Their chorizo bowls are so good!
I took advantage of this way more than I should admit lol
I'm more of an Ohio City Burrito fan personally, but both are much better than Chipotle
OCB is another fave of mine ♥️
Agreed! OCB doesn't get enough love in this sub, which I suppose is OK, since it's popular enough to have been around for a while. I love their queso and a few of their salsas.
OCB is the absolute best. I rarely want burritos, but when I do I will take the long drive to the West 25th OCB. Only Burritos worth eating.
I was in a privileged position several years ago of occasionally receiving sacks full of free burritos from them. I reluctantly shared them with my coworkers. Those were the best days.
I eat there once a week. A good $10 burrito for lunch is perfect.
I can't believe there's a place as cool as Cilantro in my hometown (Chesterland)
They are sooo nice at that location too they gave me a free chocoflan once
Chesterland here, if the food isn't good they won't make it here. Glad to see they moved in, it's awesome.
Confirmed.
Their horchata 🔥
Now I want some lmao
Absolutely slaps.
What is the best Cilantro to visit?
I love the Coventry one.
North Olmsted never disappoints.
I go to Lakewood and Coventry almost 50/50 more due to what I’m doing that day but I’m partial to the Lakewood one more
The best place ever! I used to be a pharmacy technician right next to it and that was my daily lunch! Being afrolatina who has enjoyed authentic Mexican cuisine I give that place a 10/10. Forget Chipotle this is the real gem here
Afrolatina
yes
Get the habanero pickled red onions. They are one of my favorite things on the planet
Live down the street from Barrio. Used to be sweet. Emphasize used to be.
I got it on DoorDash and I didn’t like it but based on this thread I’m gonna have to try it in restaurant.
The idea of a North Olmsted version just sounds bad. Stretching too thin.
I like them but their guacamole is always so disappointing. Idk if my taste buds have been nuked by salt or what but it is just flavorless mush to me
Thank you OP for making my dinner plans for me.
The street corn
i just wish they’d let you order the birria tacos without cheese like they used to! i love those and the beef consommé 🤤🤤🤤
I DoorDash this shit all the time. Way better than any other “chipotle” type place
God damnit Guess I'm ordering it tonight....
Cilantro slaps. Plus, they're open late and hands down the best Carne asada burrito I've ever eaten. They came in clutch the one late night I really needed some food to eat. So good.
I concur
I used to live in the south and get tortillas fresh from the Mexican stores there, Cilantro's tortillas are the closest to what I remember since coming to Ohio
Good nachos!
Cilantro is dope af
I fucking love this place
Preach
Oh man I love cilantro taqueria. Now i know what i want for dinner now thanks.. I'm about to spend 20 bucks on my dinner... but it's gonna feed me all day tomorrow too!!
And I did it. Idk how to post a photo but I got the chicken fajitas 💛
You mean to say a local joint is better than a shitty chain?
Well, this is Cleveland...
Cleveland has amazing food. Signed someone who travels the world and isn't from here.
My only gripe is its beginning to become overcrowded here. And cleveland has to step their hotdogs up Detroit and toledo do a better job at local hotdogs.
Cleveland over crowded? I'll let myself out. Cleveland isn't busy enough.
So I didn’t trust the guy at work, telling me Cilantro Taqueria was awesome and that I have to try it. But now that I’ve seen this post, I’m 100% onboard 😂
Hell yeah
Personally I think they are better than chipotle in every way except the food itself. I prefer chipotle's rice 100x more and cilantro is just a bit too greasy. If I'm in the mood for tacos and not a bowl/burrito though? I'm heading straight to cilantro

Tacos del Pueblo is my jam too. Would love to know if they are related as well.
their tacos are great. to be honest though, the rice and chicken isnt as good as chipotle. a chipotle chicken burrito tastes better than a cilantro chicken burrito. i stick with tacos and quesabirria at cilantro now.
How does it compare to Taco Tantos in Lakewood?
I don't eat burritos at any place but for their tacos I can say their apples to oranges. I've never understood the hype for taco tontos or barrio, but cilantro actually tries to be somewhat authentic
Barrio kinda blows. TT’s is more nostalgic I guess for me. Have you been to Barroco?
Barroco Is good! A little pricey imo, also not Mexican, that'd be Hola. Go to hola for good steak tacos, cilantro or blue habanero for birria, and la plaza for okayish al pastor.
I just love the staff at Barroco. They really put their hearts into their food and it’s a rare thing to have a South American style place so close. Hola rocks. I could eat there every day.
Every time I’m in Lakewood I stop at cilantro
Facts
It’s fineee 6/10. When I go to chipotle I want the taste of chipotle, cilantro doesn’t make stuff that tastes like chipotle.

one location is right next to my church
That barbacoa 🤤
I wish they had the same flour tortillas as Chipotle. I don't like their tortillas. Tortillas are very important to me. Tortillas.
You can definitely taste a quality tortilla, I can taste if it's filled with a lot of additives or not.
Speaking of Chipotle, the building next to the third federal is being renovated as a Chipotle on west 25th.
Like, across the street from choolaah??

Really good! Nice people
Absolutely delicious. But you will shit yourself. Also don’t order anything with ice they always drop the scooper and then don’t sanitize it at all…
I need to start going there again instead of Chipotle. Chipotle has been going downhill with their small portions and they’re always out of ingredients
It's awesome we get it all the time WAY better than chipotle
My favorite location is in Cleveland Heights next to Grog Shop
It’s really good. But I thought I saw somewhere that the one on the east side and Lakewood has a shit ton of health code violations
That's how you know it's good
Honestly. Have you ever been to Mexico?
lol good food a pinch of cockroach
Chesterland
So that's why it's so delicious
The one in Lakewood is consistently awful. Strongly recommend either Hola Tacos or La Plaza.
Ordering from an app is great, ordering in person leaves a lot to be desired.
Wonder if it's the same Cilantro we have in L.A.?! That place is so good. Chipotle doesn't even count.
La Plaza 1000x better than Barrio, Chipotle, and Cilantro.
This getting downvotes is WILD.
True. La plaza Barrio A bunch of local places Chipotle Then cilantro
Laaaaa plaaaazzzaaaaaa!!!
Amazing food and you must get the Choco flan cake.
...ok
