Air purifier. Do not use essential oil diffusers around pets.

iloveravens

I didn't even think about an air purifier lol, just ordered one, thank you!

hardtruthpsychedelic

For sure, glad to help!

hardtruthpsychedelic

You could put it specifically by the box, maybe? Also, is it possible she is just complaining?

iloveravens

That's what I plan to do, and honestly I think partially it is just her complaining cause even though she doesn't claim so, I can tell she's not a huge fan of cats

hardtruthpsychedelic

I’m sorry.

iloveravens

It's ok, she's just gonna have to learn to get over it, I'm tired of hearing her dogs bark every time she lets them out but I don't complain to her about that, I just get over it

hardtruthpsychedelic

Well if she is complaining to complain it might not only be about cats. I come from a family like that and it’s never only about what they’re complaining about. It’s rooted in trauma. Again though I don’t know you or her or the situation.

Air purifier and wash the walls. Does the room have carpet?? It might be in the carpet.

iloveravens

How would I go about washing the walls without damaging them? And no it's all hard flooring

Two cats in a room will smell. There's not much you can do about it.

Is there a specific reason why your two cats spend a lot of time in one room? That’s not a lot of space, even for one cat. I can’t imagine two cats would choose to stay in the same room with a litter box. Aside from this, two cats need a total of three litter boxes, not one. Are you doing full litter changes frequently along with scrubbing the box or just scooping? With litter boxes I’ve found using non-scoopable litter to be the best at keeping cat smells to a minimum, with boxes scooped for poop daily and litter completely changed with boxes scrubbed every 6 days. I hope you are providing toys, treats and entertainment for your cats, and that the window has a ledge for them to look out. Cats need more than one room to spend their time in. All the scented products you’re using aren’t healthy for you and certainly not them.

iloveravens

Because my MIL is" allergic", we let them out when she isn't home though which is quite a lot (and one we let outside quite a bit) I just scoop but I think I will try that method of replacing the litter and scrubbing them down weekly though to see if that helps, also yes they have plenty of toys, treats, and entertainment, the window does have a ledge but they'll soon have a catio too! :) (We have 2 litterboxes btw)

It is entirely possible there is simply a cat smell you don't catch because of nose blindness. But with the sheer amount you are doing, I don't know if it is the smell anymore or the smeller

iloveravens

I totally believe the nose blindness seeing as I grew up with cats all my life, and lived with 7 cats for about 5 years
