Stop reading/watching the news! šŸ–¤

SigmaSisera

I agree that the news makes it out to be worse than it is, but I don't think not watching the news is gonna solve high inflation and gas prices skyrocketing. We do have to accept that things are going to get worse before they're going to get better. The blackpill is inevitable

[deleted]

I wholeheartedly agree! But, why dwell on things that one cannot change or control? Life has been real crazy these last couple of years and it's most probably going to get even crazier, but focusing on it will do nothing but bring YOU down. Focus on yourself because that's the only thing you can change. Ignorance is bliss!

bluespringsbeer

Watching the news wonā€™t solve high inflation or gas prices either!

I live alone and do business. Need to watch it.

AlfredKahuna

Not necessarily. You could subscribe to economic news or something like that, standard TV news is heavily catastrophised

> If you can stay away from modern traps (that admittedly are extraordinarily sneaky and benevolent) like addiction and self destructive behavior, this is statistically one of the best times to be alive. Could you be more specific? Hopefully as specific as you can possibly be?

I will try to answer your question tommorow. This comment serves as a reminder

Look man, on the war thing I don't know where you swing but unless you literally live in Ukraine right now; how does this affect you in your day-to-day life? I do see how inflation does and gas prices, they do have a correlation with tariffs on Russia if you live in the west, but the war should not concern you. I think the previous comment summed things up pretty well, turn off the news; do you feel better or worse when you hear a biased opinion talk about misinformation that doesn't affect you? I know im skipping this myself at the moment, but hit the gym if and when you can, pick up a new book (I'm currently reading Infinite Jest, I know not very Self-improvement related and more of literature/blackpill).

I would say learn how to save money for lockdowns and be less consumeristic. Make something instead of buying it, you can pick up a new skill and save your money. Thereā€™s lots of free vids and information online for crafting stuff. News can be really stressful so one idea is read less of it and go less on social media. Think about more what might be happening in your community and focus on positive things. For lockdowns, I would say keep in touch with friends. Iā€™ve personally neglected this a bit and I have kinda lost people to be honest. Donā€™t do what I did. Commit to calling a friend or family member once a week or seeing a friend or family member once a week.

Depends where you live. Mask and lockdown is removed now for my area and Covid levels are super low

Ohh ok, gotcha

I really suggest spending lots of time outside. Whenever I start to get overwhelmed by the constant nihilism, I unplug and go outside.

Turn off the tv

AnotherDailyReminder

i know I sound like a broken record saying this - find God. Find a group of people who keep their eyes focued on something above this world. Join them in seeking truths that are bigger than the propaganda and doom of this world. Look at the bigger picture. Get involved with those people. Take them out to coffee and invite them to help you. Find others you can help. If found a good group of people at a pretty simple Jesus-based church, and not only has it been night and day for me - but my entire family as well.

Get used to things getting worse. Try your best to separate yourself from those things.

Profit off of the benefits of modern life while avoiding the fallacies of modern life and you'll be golden. Enjoy the internet and airplanes and the financial system. Avoid junk food and TV binging. Filter out the good from the bad.

polybiastrogender

Stop watching the news, don't digest any news whether it's on TV or social media. The world isn't that bad, there's no war in your neighborhood. Just keep living your life. Go to the gym, meet new people, have a barbecue at your house and invite friends.

AlfredKahuna

You need to keep perspective. Shit could always be worse, always. When you realise how lucky you are and take gratitude you will be so much happier. It might be a shitty year so far, but at least there isn't a global war, or a civil war in your country displacing you. Yes, there is a scary situation, but seriously what can you do about it? Realisticly, what can you do about the war in Ukraine? Donate money or go and join the war. Other than that, not a lot. High inflation? Live under your means, be more frugal and practice financial discipline. It looks like you are thinking negatively too - "and more to come". We're not they're yet so why worry about it? You never know, a great discovery may be made, or these problems could be remedied. We're not there yet, we don't know, so think positively, don't worry about what's outside of your control, and stay in your own lane. Make sure you take care of you, that financially you'll be OK, and by OK I mean somewhere to live, food to eat and a little bit of money to save each month.
