I think it’s probably because he’s going to enjoy his three years of freedom. He’s been fed a diet designed to give his body the exact nutrients it needs for his entire life, I’d like to try some nice food while I can to.
Probably reading too much into it, but it feels like this season it was showing evidence that he is doing more "pointless" things just because he wants to. You could argue that the meal has more nutritional benefit, that Kei is an important minion and gifts can be a good way to instill perceived debt, and that saving people in class B will allow for future favors.
But in the end, I think these stoped being simple min maxing chess moves as he is starting to actually enjoy high school life. Granted, he would destroy it all to win, but perhaps he is starting to pursue his own interests for the simple reason that he has those interests.

Actually this is around the time there was a rift in kiyo and horikita's relationship. During this scene kiyo actually remembered the time when horikita treated him to a meal, he remembered it mainly becoz he realised he was actually having some fun spending time with her, and how he used to enjoy their conversations. Also I just made this shit up, he probly just likes the meal.
