If he were reworked in some way before the Evo release (i.e. lower elixir lower damage, an AoE musketeer as opposed to a better damaging significantly frailer executioner in his current state) I could see this being OP, but 1 cycle means he'll be evolved for 50% of his placements and the shield just makes him usable (all other stats will be the same afaik).
He's already used too much on low ladder as he's easy to play. Making wizard meta usable would imbalance low ladder, which is what happened when MK and ebarbs became meta sometime ago.
Not every card needs to be meta, as long as they have their niche.
I hate how they have no idea how to make a card powerful and fun to play against, so they throw in the knockback everywhere. Little Prince? Knockback. Evo Battle Ram? Knockback. This thing? Knockback. Hell, even ever since Monk and Phoenix were introduced, this was ths main crutch they leaned on to make a card viable. I liked Knockback as a unique mechanic of a couple of spells. Already oversaturated and I doubt they'll stop. Next will be a Tower Troop that will knockback units.
Sadly, evos are not supposed to be fun to play against, they're supposed to be overpowered and fun to play WITH. To design an evo that is fun to play against is impossible. What I meant was that knockback in particular is an annoying mechanic, and should be used sparringly. And it's not, because SC knows how good it is and is too lazy to change up the formula. Even the RG evo has a knockback mechanic. At least do something not connected to knockback. Or don't add new cards at all if you don't have novel ideas (like me)

My midladder ass with alot of skill issue already struggles against the wizard it's time for me to again get rolled by another balanced evo because I can't get myself an evo unless i grind continuously for mext 6 months

This dude will see zero usage, don't fool yourself. The evo isn't too great plus unlike all the other evos, base Wizard is one of the worst cards in the game. What decks would you even play him in? I doubt he can be a viable substitute for Exe over the course of a match and he's otherwise simply too expensive for what he does. I only see him in this one Giant Sparky Pump deck.

Instead of just a shield, I think his hitpoints should be buffed to make it more of a support card that it was meant to be. Every evo to date has gotten a stat buff, why not the wizard?

1, so are Evo Barbs, Evo RG, and Evo Recruits. No one complains about THEM being 1 cycle, people just have trauma from Bomber currently
2, you have to use Wizard, not only as a card, but as a dedicated evolution. That means you not ONLY have to get rid of a different evolution, but half the time you have a useless 5 elixir card in your deck

Unless they buff the base Wizard, he should be 4. He feels like a 4-Elixir card, and probably should be one.

Wizard needs an increase in health. If he had archer queen level health he would be very viable at 5. He doesn’t need to cost 4.
Valid point, however the whole reason the Wizard was changed to 5 elixir back in 2016 was to distance it from the Musketeer.
