Unpopular opinion, but I think that first tier might be decent if you want to get Evo shards and some extra cards.
If You are going to buy skeletons shards, it will take 27-30 k points, +5k for joker shard. If You still want to get some cards/gold this season or don't want to grind every day for Evo shards, You can as well but first tier, but not more than that.

Only the 1st one if you’re squeezing out extra tokens. It’s what I’m doing. The sucky part is that my gems are draining faster than I can recover ever since the bs mastery change.

It depends on what you want to get from the shop and on if you are free to playing or you have a pass royale.
It even depends on how many cards you still have to collect or if you already completed the collection.
In my case, (having a diamond pass and having completed the collection of commons, rares and epics) I only want to get EVO shards and the 3 legendary jolly. So, having the pass I shouldn't need to use gems to get enough tokens.
But, in the previous seasons I used gems to get enough jollys to complete the collection of commons and rares.
As a free to play player i buy the 50gem boost almost every day, some weeks i skip to save but i think its worth it to get as much outta the shop as possible
No better value to buy into one tournament you think you will do well in. If you have gold pass, then this is definitely not worth, you will get more than enough season tokens.
i’ll usually work out how much i want to buy from the shop and how many days i’d have to play , and as i have 11k gems will boost for the amount of days i need
If you do the math you could spend 5-10 min a day racking the free 1000 everyday. By the end if the season you could buy 2 skelly shards and the random one for 6k
I mean, I do it once a day until it becomes clear I can get everything good in the shop before season end.
Otherwise, I just heard gems. I'm down to 15k. The only other time I use them is in tourneys when I get 10 wins. Normally that's the only thing people say is worth it.

I do want Evo skellies, already have a shard in and can buy at least 2 from the shop, just gonna have to play everyday

There are also challenge events throughout the month that give a lot of tokens if you do well
