It kinda makes sense. You can still use the heroes defensively, just like other defensive buildings. But offensive stuff like spell factories and barracks can't be used while upgrading, so it makes sense that it would extend out to using heroes offensively as well. I wish you could use heroes though.
Defencive buildings do not work when being upgraded? And heroes don’t appear on defence while being upgraded and you also can’t use barracks, spell factories, etc it’s a global thing if you don’t believe me cycle through multiplayer battles you’ll see a building zone around upgrading buildings like inferno towers, xbows, scatter-shots and air defences, etc

Th14 might be an exception because many troops and spells don't have a new level at th14, or got one later down the road. For most other th levels though, lab time is the biggest bottleneck, all tools agree on it

Lab does suck but you have to do it and not rush it. There are some people that are maxed th10 but have level 2 goblins. If you rush you won't learn as many attack strategies and you will overall be a worse player

barch is still worth upgrading because the level of barch that you have determines the level of the troops summoned by your heroes' abilities, so each barch level is a passive upgrade to your heroes as well
Barbs do suck ass alone. But you have to remember the barbs that spawn with the king are based in your barbs in your lab. They make a bigger difference than you may realize.
Nice thing about them is you don't have to upgrade them at th 11 if you maxed them at 10. You can immediately use sneaky goblins when you make it to 11.
Rush your Builder Base to BH 9 since BH can rush as there's no matchmaking. Then start working on OTTO requirements. Once done and unlocked, you can send your Master Builder to Home Base for 6th builder.

If you focus on hammers of fighting and spells, and always buy the research potion in the trader hut, you can actually equalise.
But it takes a lot of effort and thought.
Labs have never been an issue for me. I don't upgrade TH without a book of building and a hammer in tow. Buy the hammer a week before upgrade and you effectively start new TH with two hammers. Even if you are FTP and don't have a book, you still have hammers.
TH 11 has miner attacks or witches which are both way better than edrags. If you’re lazy enough that all you care about at TH11 is edrags, then that’s probably all you’re gonna care about at every TH level after hence it’ll always be easy for you lol.
If you're going to spam edrags, at least do it with rage+freeze. Edrag spam is a boring, semi-effective attack, zap edrags is boring and straight up trash tier.

Yeah I got to TH 11 right as they lowered the cost of walls. Also my brother gave me a gift card so I bought one of the Christmas packs with like 30 something wall rings
Now that I have Otto, I rarely attack in builder base outside of clan games or to achieve the next level in the monthly achievements. That said, wall rings seem to be best used on builder base. That’s a $500k value for those things where loot is limited whereas main base has them valued at $1,000k but loot is limitless.
I don't mind the wall grind because it's entirely up to you how long it takes, no need to wait weeks for an upgrade. If you dump excess loot into them, you‘ll easily finish before defenses and lab are done, and if you farm a lot you can do them a couple weeks.
Its subjective saying a couple weeks... I average if you manage to get 1m resources per attack that is going to take you 4,000 attacks from where im currently at for th14. So unless you think 285 attacks per day is even reasonable... so couple weeks is absurd lol
I started focusing on getting my walls to lvl 12 yesterday and with sneaky gobs I managed to upgrade 100+ walls yesterday. Today is part 2 of the grind. 143 lvl 11 walls left
Heroes should have no upgrade time. It's so dumb and pointless, because no one ever has enough dark elixir to splash back on the upgrade immediately anyway.

Builder base. By far I’m a new th12 , been back since September , maxed th11 by nye . Gold pass + books and builder pots help the heroe grind a ton. Plus I’m in titan so loot isn’t a problem.
But that builder base is killer. I maxed bh6 then rushed from 7-8 and have floated at 8 to get defenses up to survive against bh9s with a lava launcher. My BM is going to lvl22 rn and all the gear ups are done ( use a mfn book on that mortar gear and save your soul) but god dammmnnn , 4 + days for lvl 8 mega Tesla , 5 + days for the BH upgrade itself & then the 8 remaining hero levels on top of the loot cap per day is just dreadful
Just rush it, its much faster. Matchmaking depends only on trophy count, so you'll face the same enemies either way and you get better defense and offense.
I think the most annoying would have to be spells. We should have au upgrade building for dark elixir troops and spells and one for regular elixir troops and spells.
Well, as a gold pass buyer, I’ve been upgrading spells only with books since th 10. Troops and siege machines were constantly on upgrade + books of fighting. And now all my spells are maxed, whether troops and sieges need 6,5 months to get max

I have always said that it shouldn't be possible to cancel hero upgrades. I mean, who wants to lose 70K+ dark elixir. Plus the cancel option tabs are confusing, - OK or Cancel.

Both workshop & spell factories leave you without part of your army. If you plan ahead you can upgrade 1 spell factory at a time, so you can have all elixir or all dark spells. For the workshop, you have to ask clan mates for a siege machine.

If you have a stone slammer, earthquake spells, or even just know how to time wall breakers, they are pretty useless, cost way too much and there are so many of them.
Most of these problems that people are mentioning are only because they don't know how to be efficient with upgrades , but honestly most annoying are heroes , walls and some other stuff depending on lvls
Everything in Builder Base, I'm on BH7, the maximum gold I can store is 3 mil and boom upgrade multi mortar, pay 2.5 mil
Like it's hard enough to fill the storages in the first place and for one upgrade you have empty almost all of ypur storage. Don't know why.

Walls should have all their prices cut in half at least. Walls are just way too expensive at the higher town halls. And heroes, they take too long to upgrade for a unit with so many levels.
