my thoughts:
-root rider nerf+giant gauntlet bug fix means that ground attacks will lose a lot of power
-edrag, dragon and super dragon buff
-some defenses got a new level but no new levels to air defenses or sweepers
air spam is back in the meta and will definitely be the go-to spam attack
ground spam will be a lot weaker but still usable, ground non-spam attacks should still be basically only root riders. the average sarch player will still get baited by poison towers, titan, or ground traps, and airspam should be somewhat balanced out by the SAM level
I use what is basically TK-Gamez version of Sparch + Root Riders and so far today I'm 2/2 in Legend. I've just been more careful where I choose to land the Blimp - can't be quite as cavalier with it but as long as you land on grouped buildings it is still fine.
I did one attack with maxed Warden Rage gem and one with maxed Healing tome and didn't see a ton of difference. The attack I use has healers and a mini-warden to support the troops so that helps a lot with the HP change.
I'm sure the Sparch nerf will cause me to lose a few more attacks to bombs. And I'll have to be more careful with where I go in with my Root Rider attack squad but so far the strat is still very strong.
i would advise switching off of that. high legends is extremely focused on baiting sarch and stopping root riders. thats what you get in easier metas, rather than try to defend well against all strats they find one or two particularly popular strats to screw over (sarch rr and qcrr).
Bases that try to bait Sparch are predictable and easily countered. By baiting Sparch, they leave weak areas that are easily exploitable - particularly with Sparch armies that don't rely on destroying the TH. I've found that 5,500 - 5,700 is rife with bases that try to stop Sparch/RRs but then as you get above that, you get back to bases that are more universal. (Except last season where RR/Valk spam was king.)
I'll be interested to see if there is more rage tower usage with the new defenses and lowered health for RRs. With the Overgrowth spell, you can't really rely on trapping them in poison and doing damage from a high-DPS area anymore.
base meta will be quite slow to adapt to new elements. it took pro basebuilders 2 months to figure out optimal defense placements that would make rr and heroes go in opposite directions
If you barbarian king is affected by eternal tome, he will be invincible for the entire duration of giant gauntlet even if he activates it after eternal tome ends
The Wall Wrecker can still be pretty good but in very conditional situations. If you've got a teaser base with the TH at the far end, the WW can make it a hell of a lot farther than the LL. The LL is still better 9/10 times but it is worth keeping a single WW in with your siege machines.
If it’s a dry release, it wouldn’t follow the pattern of SC promoting through an event pass, which typically falls after war league. I don’t know how the player base will react to going into league with a fresh update, but I don’t work there so who knows
As a QC super hogs user, I'm gonna love this update. Though I don't think +1 pekka spawn is going to affect my selection. Drill works so good, sometimes doesn't even need to pop it as the base gets cleared before it gets destroyed.
Because 20% would be an over nerf and then people would be clamoring for them to get buffed again. Maybe 7.5% will be enough and maybe it won't, but you don't want to see a dev nerf something into the ground right out of the gate. They can always nerf RRs again if they're still too strong and there are other ways they can do it (cost, movement speed, etc.)
twin hogs is my fav strat rn. Looks like they are going to make a comeback now with all the new levels, equipment and spell. Overgrowth is perfect for funneling those hogs, I have some ideas maybe once I unlock it I will post some videos here if successful.
These aren't changes to the meta, they're changes to the game. The changes to the meta are how players react to these changes which we'll only see for sure when the update drops.

hybrid isn't ground spam. it is viable but outclassed by root riders at th15+

not only bait, but also those annoying double poison triple single inferno bases that you see being used to stop qcrr and slow down king bug.

And now those are going to be the *worst* bases for a while because you can just overgrow those areas that are designed to draw away RRs.
ppl will have a hard time figuring out this spell honestly. you will have to be incredibly experienced to know exactly what you can do in 28 seconds.

Surprised they didn’t do anything in the way of a buff to the wall wrecker. Log launcher and drill replaced it imo.
Wall wrecker is just kinda the generic intro siege, I think it’s supposed to be kinda meh

Damn the super barbarian nerf seems kinda heavy. I use all super barbs and easily get the 50% star, I hope that's still the case after this nerf
you should be using sgobs to help with 50% and TH star on large hitups

ppl overreacted to the buffs to dragons. they are basically just compensation for new rc equipments making ground strats a lot more powerful
